Is there a way to turn off blink feed or do I have to wait until Sense 5.5?

I'm fairly new to Android. Is rooting a good idea?

Picked up a HTC one with a vodafone contract yesterday. An absolute joy to use so far, I'm so happy with it. My iPhone leaning preferences are now a thing of the past!

    +1 on that.

I have the HTC one x & have always loved it, but more recently I have found that the earpiece is next to useless when making calls. I have to switch in the loudspeaker to carry on a conversation.
Is this something I just never noticed before, is it a by product of a recent update or a well known fault?

That happened to my old HTC One X and I bought a toothbrush and gave the ear speakers (dunno the technical term - the little holes that you put your ear to) a gentle scrub for a few minutes.

    Instant improvement.

Also do the notification light at same time. Big improvement in the brightness.

Got fed up with the stock browser this morning and installed firefox. Instant performance boost. I'd be on wireless, on my 50meg connection at home and the page would be just crawling along and maybe never load. On wireless now, it loads almost instantly. Im looking forward to trying it on 3G. I've been critical of Metoers 3G speeds in the past, maybe it was the browser all along.

You don't have to root to remove blink feed. Install a launcher like Action Launcher (my favourite, love the Shutter, Cover and Side Menu functionality) or Nova and that will remove blink feed for you.

Do you find it any faster than Chrome?

    (chrome isnt stock btw)

So had to send mine to HTC today, I couldnt swipe down the notification bar at all but worked fine when in landscape mode. Did the soft/hard reset to no avail. Anyone have any experiance with HTC with repairs?

several years ago when I worked in the biz, they pretty much swapped everything that was sent back to them. . .took their sweet time but almost everything I sent came back with a different IMEI

as for these days, not a clue

4.3 downloading on HTC One, meteor network. 5 mins to go. First install was a "bug fix" followed by a restart.

Just an update on my earpiece, bought a baby toothbrush & tried gently brushing it out. It worked! Happy bunny here, thanks for the advice peeps

Just downloading it right now. I'm more interested in what Sense 5.5 feels like.

Anyone on Vodafone get update yet?

If you're root, will you get notice that update is available but you need to be non-root for it to work? Or will it just say no updates available?

Am on SIM free and Android 4.3 is just downloading now with sense 5.5.

I'm on Meteor with unbranded HTC One, first big update failed (red triangle) but the second attempt went just fine. Now we can moan about "where's my KitKat update"

Steady guys we are getting a bit greedy wanting "Kitkat" already.... Christmas is only around the corner so maybe, put it on your letter to the guy in the red suit and don't be naughty. :-)

As far as I know, 3 brands all their Android phones so there's always an extra delay

How does one un-root the HTC One by the way? No ROMS have been installed, it was just rooted...

Just something stupid, but you used to be able to have a different background for the lock screen.
This no longer appears to be the case, same for lock screen and normal wallpaper.

Has anyone else had an issue with the internal mic? All people can hear when on a call is static. It's fine working with headset or on speaker. I have done a factory reset and the issue is still there.

I am now debating whether to send it to Three or direct to HTC for repair as it isnt even 2 months old.

I was having an issue with it yesterday actually, it was an automated call back I got, a survey from Airtricity and the voice kept sounding really distant...
