Why would you move if it's working properly now?? Do people enjoy throwing money away

Nope, what I was getting at was for the next upgrade I'll go to Samsung rather then another HTC. Long story short, I have 3 email accounts on my phone, including one for work, also for work an important CRM tool. I commute so also use it as a reader and a movie player. I have no sense of direction so the GPS / map features are important! To be without a smart phone for over a month is a problem that i cant have repeated.
Like i said, I do like my phone, but if i cant trust it will be supported in a reasonable amount of time I'll have to look else where. Clear enough?

This thread is about the HTC One. You don't appear to have one but are complaining about it?

Eh, so you know i mentioned having a One S in some of the posts you actually quoted me on right?
The One is a family of phones, not just a model right? Is this thread just for a particular model of the One?
Anyway - to avoid confusion, I've had a One S for just over a year. While it was off getting repaired I went back to using an old Desire that I had.

That was very clear from your first post but unfortunately your most recent post still won't help explain to the HTC offensive that you actually had an issue with HTC.
Brace yourself for a barrage of abuse and smart answer's.
Shame on you for having a problem with the almighty Taiwanese.
Surely must have been somehow your own fault. ;-)

Really? I haven't really read your other posts so I'm just looking at this one. You have a HTC One? It is user's choice what phone you get. I have a One which I believe to be far better than an S4 having used both and the world it seems if awards are anything to go by. You have an issue with HTC support? Do you think Samsung's are any better? Every support team will endeavour to get you sorted and every support team has issues and things don't get sorted.

For the money I'd prefer a better build of a phone than the plastic feel of the S4. Both are very close in terms of specs but if you are paying for it why not get something that feels like you paid for it!

    As for philthrill69, troll much?

    Hey Petes
Yeah, as i said in another post, i'm disappointed because i really do like it.
from talking with with samsung users the expirence from support seems to be generally good. I agree, the HTC does feel better because of the metal case. HTC was actually my first non nokia in 18 years!

Anyway, I'm done moaning about them. For me , its not just the phone specs and awards etc
I dont want to suck any more energy from this thread so I'll park it there.

Jebus h christ, "build quality" "metal chassis" "feels better in the hand" "geeks awards" "minority awards" "niche awards".
If a metal frame which 70% of people are going to cover with a plastic case anyway is your trump card then God help you if Samsung launch their F series next year.

Really, minority and niche awards? How about the biggest award of the year? You are as much anti HTC as anyone on this thread is pro HTC. What's your problem. How about innovation? Anything wrong with that? HTC raised the bar and if you don't see that you are deluded and shouldn't be let near technology. If Samsung release something I like I'll get it, have stuff from them but the HTC One trumps the S4, not by much but it does. I'm not talking about future tech, anyone can speculate, I'm talking about the here and now.

    Lucrative business this , Phil?

Tbh, I'm using a note 3 at the moment which is a bigger (and slightly better S4) and the one is a pleasure to use compared to it. UI, build, screen, signal and speakers are all better with the one. I think it's a deserved winner of the awards but the differences are small. You won't be disappointed with either an s4 or One.

Christ, will you lot please just let it go and shut up now.

Grand, some don't like the phone, some do. Let's all move on now.

I have to agree with Sonics2k, I used to read this thread to see if there was anything new and interesting for the One, but all the childish arguments lately are pathetic.

I would almost recommend the mods lock this thread as it has become painful to read.

Recommend it then, my comments were not childish, I was merely commenting on someone's opinion!

Haha, my comment was not aimed at you in particular, but at the way this thread has gone in general.
But your response really proves my point.

Hi I'm new to this thread, I've had my HTC one for just over a month now, switched from an iPhone 5 to it. Can't fault it as of yet, top notch, I had wanted to try an android phone again after a couple of years of iphones, after a while thinking about it, I decided to go for the HTC one due to its excellent build quality... So far, wow. The only thing that bothers me slightly is, most of the time I have to go in and manually update the weather widget as it doesn't update automatically?

Try the 1Weather app. The widget can be set to auto refresh, and it looks way better than stock.

In the settings you can set the refresh to a hour or whatever suits.

I'm also giving a big thumbs up to the One's signal - my last phone, the S2 had terrible reception in my house, it would drop connection (without warning) and only re-gain it on re-boot. No such problems with the One - happy day's!

So any word on when we're getting the 4.3 update with Sense 5. 5?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,830 ✭✭✭✭MuppetCheck

Should be soon with the US roll out. It was quick enough for the 4.2 roll out anyway. I checked earlier and there was nothing. Mines on Vodafone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,369 ✭✭✭LostBoy101

4.3 only has some minor tweaks so I won't be expecting too much.

Currently have a rooted HTC One, 4.1.2,HTC Sense Version 5.0.Is it worthwhile getting these firmware updates???Any advice appreciated.

I would imagine the 4.3 update is minor enough, but I've heard the Sense 5.5 upgrade is meant to bring a few noticeable changes.

Aye the major change in the Sense 5.5 is that we'll be able to disable blinkfeed.
