Am I to understand if I update to 4.3 HTC sense 5.5 will be included? Will this unroot my phone? Quite like blinkfeed, although I use it rarely.:-)

The only update I've ran on my phone was on day 1 when I bought it. Since then I have rooted my phone (haven't changed ROM or anything). Will this block any future updates from HTC?

Anyone here with there htc one on the 48 network? Here in my problem..

I moved from O2 to 48 last week.
Everything was fine , got calls and mobile data BUT I cannot send texts.

48 told me I'd need to edit the smsc number and this was how to do it. And I did.
Here is what they said to do which I did... Can you try the following:
    1. Go to Phone Dialer, and press: *#*#4636#*#*
    2. Select Phone information
    3. Scroll down to bottom of the screen, you'll see the field for SMSC setting.
    4. [Optional] Click Refresh to see current SMSC number.
    5. Change the SMSC number to +353894300000 then click Update.

It did not work, is it a sim problem? 48 said they couldn't do any more and that I'd need to contact htc about it but I said I ask here first.

When I hit update, I got an update error immediately as you can see in the attached photos... So it lets me put in the 48 smsc put when I hit update I get this update error..
Other than this I hit refresh to see what smsc was but also I got a refresh error.

    See attached photos,
Still can't bloody text anyone for the last week. Anyone here have a htc one and on the 48 network? My old O2 sim worked perfect.

The HTC One US will have 4.4 within the next 90 days. We haven't gotten 4.3 yet but hopefully we'll have 4.4 by Feb or March.

So looks like the Americans will all have 4.4 (Kit Kat) within 90 days: http://www.theverge.com/2013/10/31/5052342/every-htc-one-in-north-america-will-have-android-kitkat-within-90-days

    Broken down as follows:
    • within 15 days: Google play editions
    • within 30 days: Unlocked & dev versions
    • within 90 days: all carrier versions
Here's hoping that we get something similar on this side of the water...

Anyone else getting really annoyed at how slow we're getting updates here? Still no sign of 4.3 or Sense 5.5 while America, who traditionally have to wait months after Europe have 4.3, Sense 5.5 and now 4.4 within 90 days.

Starting to annoy me and making the Nexus 5 quite an attractive proposition. Which is bad news for my wallet :)

I'm not getting too fussed about not receiving the 4.3 as it is not a major update and I doubt the 4.4 will be either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,489 ✭✭✭Ivefoundgod

Whatever about 4.3 but Sense 5.5? Plus 4.4 has some nice features as does 4.3 which would be nice. It wouldn't bother me as much if I didn't know the update was out there.

It's such a big problem with android.
Phone makers have got to work with Google and vice versa. In saying that HTC cabtbget the sense update of their own out. Android is such a smooth operating system imo better then IOS and what they did to Moto x is start of something amazing.

Phone company's need to get their own house in order then work with Google for a quicker release.

Actually HTC in America is pushing updates out a lot quicker than other brands in a market where updates are usually very slow due to the power of Carriers. Thats why everyone is so annoyed that we haven't got the updates here, most EU operators have little bloatware by comparison and the update is clearly more or less ready to go. Can't understand how unlocked international HTC One don't even have 4.3 yet. Its baffling me.

Got new HTC One as upgrade from SGS2. Have boards app but there is no menu button on HTC One to exit app. Have same problem with a couple of other apps that need menu button.
Am I just missing something here?

Press and hold the home button and you'll get the exit app option .

Ok, haven't read the whole thread but there is a built in app on my HTC One called TV.
It's brilliant, shows me every program on my UPC horizon box and by touching the program on the phone, it changes the channel for me! Kids can't understand why channel keeps changing lol.
    Also controls my tv.

Me too.... Online instructions look complicated though. Really appreciate advice from someone who has done it.

I have the HTC one x & have always loved it, but more recently I have found that the earpiece is next to useless when making calls. I have to switch in the loudspeaker to carry on a conversation.
Is this something I just never noticed before, is it a by product of a recent update or a well known fault?

You can also do that with the Sky Plus App.

That TV app is excellent! The only issue is that u can't tell it that u hate a program.

Home and away ain't all that bad mate, when my wife has it on sometimes I throw a glance in April and Sachas direction.
Maybe the tv app knows you better than you think ;-)

Tried it, didn't make any difference at all. Will try some compressed air at work tomorrow, but have a feeling the earpiece is faulty

Compressed air will make ****e out of the receiver membrane.
    Learned that from experience.
But I suppose it's worth a try if you think it's screwed anyway.

Same happened mine. Sent it away with emobile on a Monday morning and got a brand new phone on Thursday afternoon.

I know mine had metal filings in it though.

Picked up a HTC one with a vodafone contract yesterday. An absolute joy to use so far, I'm so happy with it. My iPhone leaning preferences are now a thing of the past!
