    A quick question :

I'm new to this whole "trick" as I had 2× Thomson boxes until last Tuesday when they finally swapped them for two new WiFi boxes.

I've been following this thread all along and knew of the trick but, obviously, couldn't try it myself until now.

It's been working on the blue button fine and has only changed back to 998 once in the past week.

I set the channels as favourites using my Setanta card but I didn't set the +1 channels as I don't mind going into "Other Channels" for the few occasions I watch them.

However, ALL the channels I have in the "Other Channels" pages show up when I go into the "Favourites" set up page.

So I "ticked" the non-EPG channels AGAIN as they were unticked with my sub cards in the boxes.

As I said : all working fine now -- reminders / recordings / even the "Set Reminder" when a trailer is showing.

But -- now when I use the blue button only the non-EPG channels show as being "ticked" while my EPG channels are not ticked. They still cycle through all my favourites - they just don't show as being favourites... if that makes sense.

My Question : Is anybody else experiencing this with the favourites and is it OK to leave the boxes like this?

Also : all the channels I have as "favourites" are showing TWICE in the "Other Channels" pages now but I don't care about that as I know it's just because I ticked the channels with both cards in the boxes.

It should be fine. The only problem that can crop up is that you could get a "double" press on the blue button while cycling through the favourites.

I just hope UTV going HD on the 4th of November does not mess this "trick" up!

Same as that. I won't put the hd into other channels. ..Maybe that will sort it.

Anybody notice a glitch when switching from 'other channels' to the normal EPG?

If I watch a channel on other channels then switch back to the EPG the blue button won't scroll through my favourites, the only cure is switching the box off & on again.

BTW,I'm not using the card trick due to the problems using UK cards detailed over the last few pages.

Yes -- I have that same exact problem.

I had two Thomson boxes until 2 weeks ago when they were finally replaced with two new WiFi ones.

I've been using the "blue button" trick since I got the boxes and all is fine but I didn't "favourite" any +1 channels so I still have to go into "Other Channels" to view them.

The blue button doesn't work AT ALL after leaving the other channels menu.

I fix it by going into "Add Channels" (services - 9 - 6) and tuning any of the frequencies that any "other" channel is on and then exiting.

Are you using the card trick? I'm not using it at the minute on this box but problem is there.Pain in the ass as I always use the blue button rather than the tv guide.

Yes - using the blue button trick.

So it's happening for you WITHOUT the trick !?!

Must be a common bug then -- let's not mention it to Sky in case they "fix" it and also "fix" the trick . . .

How to get Channel 5 and BBC One HD on your Irish EPG and Recordable!!
Yes, discovered this little doosey a few days ago
    Here's what I used:
    My Sky HD box
    My genuine Sky sub card
A White UK FTV card [link deleted - ICDG]

    Here's how I did it:
Plugged out my Sky HD box, inserted the FTV card, plugged it back in and switched it on.
Changed channel to 105 (Channel 5) and switched off box.
Put back in my normal Sky sub card switched it on and viola Channel 5 and BBC One HD on the EPG!

Weirdly 3e and Channel 5 are both on channel number 105 and also BBC HD and BBC One HD are on 143.

All the Sky+ pause, rewind record functions work as normal, haven't tried Series link yet.

Discovered this trick 2 days ago and has worked ever since, channels seem to remain until the box is plugged out, will do a bit more testing including series link. Could be a great find for those looking to record the new BB

    Additional note:
It turns out that if you have the correct regional variations of ITV, ITV 2 etc stored in other channels (that match your FTV card) then these will also be added. I now have all the ITV's including ITV HD

Bought those cards before and did that trick. Then it stopped working and I think I dumped the cards! Disaster!

Tried to do the trick, but when I put back in my normal card, no Irish channels showed up and the Sky ones wouldn't work. Any ideas?

Give the chip on your sub card a wipe and try it again.

Make sure you push the card well in.

I'm not subscribed to hd, but I have a hd box. Can't remember what region the card is. Is there a way I can check?

When you had the ftv card epg loaded what region was 103 itv? If it was utv you will get the complete epg.

    103 just said ITV.

Still doesn't work though. Gave it a wipe and pushed it right in, and it overwrote the FTV channels with Irish ones. Flummoxed I am, 'cause it definitely uses to work before it stopped working!

You have an itv London card. You can only get the trick using the blue button. Unplug the box and insert the UK card, then power up the box and wait for the epg to load fully. Using the services /favourites tick all the uk channels that you want. Don't forget to save them by pressing the green button. Go into standy and swap back to the irish card. Switch on the box and pressing the blue button will cycle you through the uk channels. Make sure you have the channels you want stored in "other channels" before you start doing anything.
