Retropolis prices are, generally, fantastic tbh.
I got a few bits at one of the nights in Thomas House and was frankly surprised.
Doctor Doom got an amazing deal on some NTSC/J SFII stuff.
And his pricing seems to be incredibly keen across the range of stock he has.
Now, yes, he doesn't yet have the volume of stock that RAGE have but there is a difference in scale of operations.
This should mean that Retropolis should be charging even more and RAGE less, but it isn't so.

Using Ebay as a yard stick for value is easy but hazardous, as a lot of sellers seem to relisting items at the same high prices, especially in the BIN categories.
Looking at the bidding is probably better.

But, yes, great to have 2 sellers of retro games in Dublin, no doubt.
Let's hope, as the years draw on, we'll see more of them.

Surprised that 3DGames doesn't get much of a look-in anymore, and they're likely to be gone again soon, judging by the lack of traffic, but their GBA/GB games are €3 a pop, and a lot of their other retro stuff is decently priced. Yes, the stock is not in the best condition, but surely we've all purchased salvageable bits in worse states.

There's a caveat in that they sell bootleg games, GBA-wise, but if you ask to look at'em before purchase, you'll not get nabbed.

I call them H2O Games, because so much of their stock is water damaged, that's why they're doing so bad.

Well, that, they're slightly off-the-track location and their inconsistent pricing would put'em down too, but the stuff I've gotten there works as described; it's not a haven for collectors, by any means, but it would be advised to take a mosy at their GBA/SNES/GB/PS stuff in the cabinets before they inevitably go plop again- might end up with a few decent titles to play.

    Pox!
    I never thought of them!
Where are they based, might contrive another trip into town

North of the Ha'penny bridge, between Liffey and Capel St. Also worth noting that there's a pseudo-Cash Converters opened now just across the road from Gamexhange/Book Mart; CeX-esque in terms of stock, but there might be hope for their PS2 stuff. Book Mart's also gotten better, with their recent 3-for-2 sale, and no longer uniformly pricing everything at €20 (€15, which leaves it a bit more flexible)- they've had a few interesting tidbits in the window the last while too.

Some more additions to the PS2 Collection

    Super Bust a Move
    Suffering Ties that Bind
    Maximo
    Eternal Ring
    Forbidden Siren 2

Have never played any of them before. Forbidden Siren looks Super Scary

Just ordered Trackmania Turbo for the DS, not too expensive and runs beautifully on the DS, at 60 fps as well.
    Good old ebay!

And this after I promised myself I wasn't buying another bloody thing til after Jebus day!

    No!
    I want one too!
I think they look cool, I tried to convince my son that it'd make an excellent addition to his Santy list but he's fallen, hook line and sinker for the Skylanders/Disney Infinity marketing.

I'll have to contrive a way to buy one for myself.
But I need a DSi XL and a 3DS XL too!

Woah, A Link Between Worlds is due out on November 22nd. Didn't realize it was so soon!

My poor 3DS has gotten bugger all use since finishing Fire Emblem. It's certainly be dusted off in November, cannot wait for that.

I'm kinda at the end of my tether with the 3DS, it's so damned uncomfortable for longer sessions, with sever 'claw' setting in after a while.

Yeah, I was putting in really long sessions with Fire Emblem and the ergonomics on the thing are dreadful. It's a shame the original GBA design was never developed on and the DS one took over so much. It just isn't comfortable in the slightest.

I'm kind of stuck between the 3DS and 3DSXL though. Would love to have had the XL from the get go, but after spending quite a sum on the 3DS I don't know if I fancy buying another console.

that's one of my favourite games!
I love it so much, make sure you change to Japanese audio in the options it'll still be subs but sounds much better.
Would love to know how you get on playing it.

Off-topic somewhat, but it's mindblowing that the 3DS is nearly 3 years old; still feels like a system in the infancy in terms of what it can do. With that, it's also at 35 million sales already, so Ninty could very much have a success on their hands that compares well to the absolute runaway win that was the DS.

3 years old? Fecking hell, I would still think of it as a new console, definitely. Still feels like the best games for it yet to come.

Waiting for it to arrive I should have it this week! Would you recommend playing the first one before I play this or does it matter much?

The 3DS back catalogue still seems light though, compared to the massive selection on the DS, even at the 3 year stage.
That said, the DS had a lot more bloatware.
I think the 2DS is a fascinating design choice by Nintendo and I'd love to give it a whirl.
Plus the price point is magic, should sell loads come Jebus Day.

I picked up the black/silver 3DS XL yesterday(along with another Wii U). The XL is much nicer to look at and much nicer to play on.

The bottom screen doesn't look the best though I have to admit.

Picked up Golden Sun Dark Dawn on DS (with manual and map)
Guy behind the desk said I got a great deal, it should be €20 but whatever kinda code that came with it meant it was 11.99, also came with club points. Wouldn't have thought of getting it only for Cian.

They were closed at 11am last few times I was in the area..pity as I'd have liked to browse at least

Pretty sure I saw the 3DSxl for cheap in pc world. Definitely cheapest I've seen anyway. Ill double check tomorrow. They are selling off most of their console stock. official 360 pads wired and wireless were €35 if I remember right.

They are 169.99 in both Currys and PC World.
Sold out online so its, presumably, an in store deal only.
    It's saving if €30, which isn't bad.
Not as good as the €149.99 price in Harvey Norman a month or two ago though.

Single handedly keeping Nintendo in business for 20 years!

Regarding my own situation, I think I rather take a chance on the 2DS than the XL.
On reflection I have the vanilla 3DS and I think the 2DS looks pretty cool.
The button configuration looks interesting too, seems I can give up on the hope of a second circle pad.
    Which raises one final issue,
Will there be another circle pad pro accessory forthcoming for the new device?

It's a wonder they didn't just use the XL displays on the 2DS.
I wonder if the device is going to be a big seller.
Will the Vita finally gain traction this year?
Sony can't really drop the price there and, while it is an impressive piece of tech it's software library doesn't seem to grab the great unwashed in any regard.
The Nintendo handheld seems to be holding all the aces in this regard.
A brand new Nintendo device, at that €130 price point and such a range of software, with more to come, if it doesn't shift in decent numbers nothing ever will.
I think some people were expecting a serious hardware revision when none is mandated.
At least none beyond a 2nd Circle pad, which I don't think is likely at this point.
No, I'd say we won't see a new handheld from Ninty for a other 3 years, at least.

The only problem for me re the 3DS is the games are far too expensive. For one 3DS game, it's almost the same price as a years subscription to PS+, which throws PS3, Vita, & soon PS4 games at you for free every month. As much as I'd love some of the better 3DS games, I refuse to pay €45 for them

I tell you what, it reminds me what it was like buying new cart based games about 20 years ago before discs came along.

Mad that Nintendo can still charge that when you factor in how much cheaper cart technology is now.

TBH I'd rather play a top tier 3DS game than a lot of the stuff they give away on PS+ most of which I've played before or have no interest in playing. I suppose I am buying my games from the US so getting them a lot cheaper. I haven't felt ripped off buy a 3DS game yet since I think they offer as much if not more than the big console games.
