The Last of Us and Beatles Rock Band are now mine.

Should I put GTA5 and everything else on hold and play TLOU immediately?
It is horror game season after all.

Trevor not horror enough for you ?

Just got this back from The Last Bandit, all fixed via a pad hack (you forgot that Jap Saturn pad by the way! :D)

Gave it a test go with Garegga. It's a stick dreams are made of :pac:

Yup, these seem to be very good quality .

I have the exact same one and a couple of Saturn shmups like Garegga, Batsugun and both Pachi's which is nice but also pretty useless actually as I don't have a Saturn :(

    Edit:

I got Gunlord in the mail tonight for the Dreamcast .

Pretty awesome Turrican clone I already had played before .

Hahaha, that's so crazy! Go out and buy one now! How else do you play Radiant Silvergun? (Why do I have a feeling you're going to retort with 'on my STV/Cart setup') :pac:

It's worth opening up your Jap Saturn stick to see what stick is used. The early gen ones have a Seimitsu one :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 616 ✭✭✭Casey120

My stick has the seimitsu hardware and I can play RS on my 360 !

I'm really not the biggest fan of the game :P

Never got my head around them, I prefer Ikaruga, now thats a good one.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 53,321 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Well Mars Matrix is a little too hard. Radiant Silvergun is one of the best traditional shoot'em ups made before they all turned into boring bullet hell games. It's also absolute gaming bliss for some one like me that loves boss fights.

Ikaruga is very different and plays more like a puzzle game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 616 ✭✭✭Casey120

Radiant Silvergun is anything but a traditional shoot'em up, I don't hate the game but I don't enjoy it much either, I personally like Ikaruga's black and white antics more.
Mars matrix an incredibly awesome adrenaline rush once you get the hang of the one button control .

    Called into RAGE just now.
Spent a whole tenner on Magical Mirror for the GC and The Rescue of Princess Blobette for the GB.
Everything else I saw was either horrendously overpriced or overpriced horrendously

    Wow , S&P for the 64

That game blew my socks of back in the day, I have played the Wii successor but did the original ever had a Wii port ?

So, you're willing to support them by giving them your business, but then proceed to bad-mouth them on Boards?

What do you expect? It's a bricks and mortar shop. They've probably got overheads coming out of their a$$.

Last time I checked in there, a good 75%+ of their prices were on par with what you'd expect to pay online, eBay/Amazon, etc...incl. shipping.

I'm not going to defend everything about the place, but they're providing the only viable walk-in gaming option of its' kind in the country and the longer they remain open, the better. There's a lot to be said about being able to walk into a shop in 2013 Dublin and have the option to purchase any kind of retro-goodness.

There's 3 or 4 other options in the Dublin besides RAGE, though; 5, if you lump in the odd retro bit that passes through CeX.

what about Retropalis? dunno if it's spelled right

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 156 ✭✭RNB

None of them have the same amount of stock though, have they?

I must admit, I've heard about Retropolis, but have never been in. Have spoken to quite a few frequenters of the Mingle Market and each one of them mentioned that, although good, there's very little choice in there.

Fair enough, but a tad defensive there. I think I'm entitled to voice my opinion, given I'm their target demo for their services.
I just found some of the pricing on even the most uninspiring Megadrive games to be steep.
My comment may have been playful but I think it unlikely I was going to change anyone's mind about shopping there.

Yes, I too think it's great to have a walk in Retro shop in Dublin, but I'd love if their stuff was priced more keenly.

I find the stock much better in Retropolis. He may not have much but it's much better and when he does get in something nice he sells it way below ebay prices (even when I tell him it's worth more!). I don't bother with RAGE that much anymore. I can get the stuff in better condition and cheaper online most of the time.

Apologies, may have been a little strong with my post.

It just bugs me when folks bang on about it so much, being over-priced, etc. Having lived in many European/Scandinavian countries over the past decade and seeing countless R.A.G.E-like shops being put out of business due to similar kinds of negativity, leading to less and less people utilising them, I genuinely hope they can survive. And not just The R.A.G.E., but all others, including Retropolis.

Retropolis prices are, generally, fantastic tbh.
I got a few bits at one of the nights in Thomas House and was frankly surprised.
Doctor Doom got an amazing deal on some NTSC/J SFII stuff.
And his pricing seems to be incredibly keen across the range of stock he has.
Now, yes, he doesn't yet have the volume of stock that RAGE have but there is a difference in scale of operations.
This should mean that Retropolis should be charging even more and RAGE less, but it isn't so.

Using Ebay as a yard stick for value is easy but hazardous, as a lot of sellers seem to relisting items at the same high prices, especially in the BIN categories.
Looking at the bidding is probably better.

But, yes, great to have 2 sellers of retro games in Dublin, no doubt.
Let's hope, as the years draw on, we'll see more of them.
