My mate and I are both going to the midnight release, we decided that we're gonna both launch the game at the same time, chat on skype and then have a race to mount chiliad after the first mission. :D

Jaysus, the last couple days I've been getting really excited for this game, Seeing pictures of the games in stores and of the full map doesn't help!

I wonder by what % work productivity is down in the run up to the release of this game. Hands up who should be working but are instead reading up on GTA V.

    I'm one for a start.:pac:

I know I have said this before but I am worried about peoples unrealistic expectations of the quality of the graphics in this game.

Remember, this is an aging console stretched to its limit in this game. In order to use such a large map with the level of detail they mention and with lots going on there will have to be corners cut.

I never trust early screenshots, especially those coming from the game producers themselves. The so called 'gameplay video' was cleverly edited with cutscenes throughout. To me most of the screenshots are from cutscenes rather than gameplay and will most likely have been 'touched up' for any anomalies.

While I am not saying the graphics will be bad, I am saying that from reading through this and other forums some people are going to be slightly dissapointed. This will be no Uncharted 2 in terms of graphics!

There was a scene in the multiplayer scene were some guys run up to the Los Santos Government building (I think) and hide behind cars in a shoot out before taking down a guy on the roof. It struck me at the time that the textures for the road and the building itself were quite poor.

Having said that, it will be a hell of a game and thats the important thing.

Yeah I'm replaying IV at the moment and it's surprising how poor some of it looks on ps3. A resource-saving depth of field blurs anything more than about 10 meters away from you, the character models are quite low res and many of the building textures and things are low res as crap. Saying that though several years have passed, LA Noire and RDR have been made/published in the mean-time and the visuals in them are just great.

    Looking forward to scuba diving!

One of the min-games I'm really looking forward to is golf.

I'm wondering how this will actually work...will it be that once you start a game you won't have freedom to move around on the course and each scene will just bring you from one shot to another so like the only thing you can do is take a shot (ala tiger woods), OR will we be able to run around and go up to the next shot on our own accord?

Second option would be class....take your shot, get in your buggy to the next one (maybe snipe a bird flying around you before hand)..

    :D

This time next week I'll finally be playing :D

I'm in work Tuesday night so will have to get a few hours sleep Wednesday morning to keep me awake for the day.

Might actually install it on Tuesday so I dont have to wait on Wednesday. Wont have enough time to play it properly though.

A preview said the golf and tennis were like having Tiger Woods PGA tour and top spin in GTA V :)

    Drunk Golf!

2 things I really really want are Poker (very doubtful at this stage, like Penn said Gambling was only in Las Venturas so good excuse for them not to have gambling in V) and Unlockable costumes ala Red Dead.

Was great having a checklist of tasks and then getting a class outfit for your character.

    Ooooops :o

Sorry folks - I was meant to post a warning here when we were starting to sell out of GTA. A huge rush of orders in the last couple of hours has meant we've been forced to stop taking pre orders for a little while. (Read that as someone pressed the panic button :p)

We're doing our sums at the moment to see how many more we can release onto the site and hope to have it turned back on later this evening. That said we're talking about a small percentage of extra stock being available so if you are planning on ordering from us I'd recommend getting onto it sooner rather than later.

Jaysus Pat you gave me a heart attack! I thought you were gonna say you won't be getting any copies after all.

The big scary red letters in your name don't lend a very calming tone to your posts there Pat, did nearly **** myself.

Anywho, re; gambling there might not be a legitimate casino but there could be shacks in the back country and secret high roller games in warehouses. That'd be pretty cool.

I'd be surprised if there wasn't gambling tbh. They have a lot of the functionality already from Red Dead so it'd just be matter of tweaking it to fit. I'd say the reason it's not been mentioned is that they don't think it's a major selling point.

It's not exactly hard to believe that the kind of people who are involved in bank heists would be into a bit of illegal gambling. Of course it will be in there!

Sorry lads - I was coming from the mindset of orders yet to be placed as opposed to those already placed. No problems with those !!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,303 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Yeah, I've been hearing the well is running dry. A mate in xtravision said they will only be selling gta v to people who preordered it and won't have any copies to sell on tuesday to non-preorderers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,080 ✭✭✭✭Maximus Alexander

Friend of mine is working at the HMV in Dundrum, which opens on tomorrow. They have no pre-orders yet, on account of not being open yet, so I'm top of the list. :D

Maybe a reason for not having gambling would be because of the focus on money in this game. Perhaps they were afraid that if you happened to be good at poker then you could end up throwing the money system out of balance by acquiring too much too fast.

    Just a thought.

Though, for the same reason, gambling would be really cool to have.

We're likely going to be the same. We had allocated a certain amount of stock to on the day purchases at our venue but we're going to be dipping into that for extra website stock.

BTW - We're looking at end of September for wave 2. There is no stock available at all for delivery week of / week after release.

Mad if people still haven't preordered. I know tescos and the like might have a few copies but just isn't worth the risk when the next batch isn't out until end of september when we will all be starting GTA Online.
