This game is exactly the reason why no Xbox One/PS4 will be sitting under my tv until next year. Not to forget there are still AAA titles yet to come such as Watch Dogs, BF4, COD Ghosts etc. There is simply no reason at all at the moment to jump on the next gen bandwagon.

And GTA V won't be anywhere near a next gen console until late next year if at all.

Anyone watch todays GTA V o'clock on CVG? They said they were sent exclusive screenshots like other game sites but they aren't allowed show them until midnight Monday. They gave the below clues though.

"I might just give you a fist my friend, oh hello"
"and you might as well be driving to the moon"
"I'm not a 'cards on the table' kinda guy"

I dunno about the first 2 but I really hope the third one is Poker! Very weird how they can't release the shots until the game is released. Means Rockstar will be keeping secrets until the game is released, which is a good thing!

I own all the GTA games and regularly play them. Even occasionally play the 2d top down original. I play Nintendo 64 games too, age doesn't matter as long as they're good quality.

I still play my PS2. I only play the GTA games. Can easily see myself doing the same with the PS3 games. I'll only be getting a PS4 when GTA V or something like a new RDR comes out on it.

Celtic_Tiger should realise there is no 'celtic tiger' now so many people are not forking out on a new console especially when there are great games still available now.

well personally ill be getting the ps 4 on release date . COD and watch dogs are all for release in november so i dont mind waiting a week or to to get them for ps4 . as for GTA V id be very surprised if there wasnt a ps4 version in nov/ dec . cause any one who wanted the game would of buying it by then . so it just means more sales for rockstar and sony bringing out a ps4 version but with GTA i dont mind buying it twice

No way will they re-release it in two months time. At that rate they could have held off on the current release and released them all at once. It'll be easily a year before GTA V is on PS4/Xbone.

It wont come out on the next gen in TakeTwo interactives current fiscal year which ends on the 31st of March.

I would rather they forget about bringing it to next gen and just get stuck into a new Red Dead for next gen!

It'd be the exact same game, just upgraded a little. I'm sure it wont be too much of a hassle. Considering they are planning to keep adding to the online stuff, I'm thinking they can do both before working on RDR2/GTA6/Whatever.

Episodes was four years ago and initially DLC.

It's not a simple case of copy + paste. The new consoles are completely different, a lot of the code would need to be modified/rewritten. It'll be out on the PC before it hits the next gen consoles (if it does at all).

chinatown wars at the end of 2010 for psp and ds
then a complete edition with stories and gta 4 in oct 2010

As stated already, the new consoles have pretty different architecture to the PS3/360 (especially in the difference between the PS3/PS4), so it'll take time, effort and money to port such an ambitious game.

Then there's the problem of console install bases - release your games on the 360/PS3 and there's a potential 150 million customers. Release it on the PS4/X1 and there's only going to be a fraction of that.

And I think if they just release it for the currnet gen consoles, people are just going to buy it regardless. Even if I bought both new consoles in November, I'm still buying GTA V next week and intend to be playing it for quite some time.

Lost and the Damned - DLC almost a year after the original game (the CoD equivalent is a map pack).

Ballad of Gay Tony - DLC, as above, but 1.5 years later.

PS3 version - Microsoft had timed exclusivity on the DLC, PS3 players were only too happy to have it come out then.

Chinatown Wars is hardly of the same scale a release as San Andreas, GTA IV, V, etc.

Complete Edition had no new content and wasn't marketed as such - it was a cheaper alternative to buying GTA IV separately. Very handy for PS3 owners as everything came on one disc.

So "new one every few months" couldn't be further from the truth.

My guess is that we'll see it on gaikai with the ps4

yeah maybe so. but if they dont have a ps4 version ready to go they will be the only big new release not to do so as COD ghost , assassins creed black flags ,watch dogs , BF 4, fifa 14 will all be out for ps4 release day and not to mention the supposed slip up of the sony employe saying GTA would be out for ps4

All those games listed bar Battlefield 4 are running on antiquated engines that have been in loads of games at this stage.

They've also been built to target multiple platforms and be cross-generational too, GTA V is not.

From the article you linked:

Rockstar confirmed to Kotaku and other publications that the GTA 5 on PS4 tweet was simply a typo.

I'm saying it's not going to happen, but as it stands it doesn't actually make sense for R* to port it.

Saw the TV ad twice on 3e tonight. It's one of the first times I can remember seeing a game (other than Nintendo Wii and DS stuff because that doesn't count) being advertised on Irish channels. Both times it came on I had to mouth along to "My job! My score! GET YOUR OWN!" as well as bopping to the beat.

Yup. 3e is your best bet. They seem to have it every third ad break. Hurry, you know you want to watch "The Town the Travellers Took Over" anyway, so you may as well see the ad while you're at it. :P
