I don't normally like Impact bumper 911s but this one with the lowered springs and especially the split rim BBS wheels looks the business.

Cosgrove never seems to sell cars. He has had what looks like a nice two tone beetle in his gated yard for the past two years. In fact most cars on his forecourt are there a year at least.

No pics unfortunately, but an hour ago I saw parked dark red 1976 Volvo 244DL (76-KY-xxx) on MacCurtain st. in Cork. While I was walking around it (checking all the tiny rust bubbles all over the car) a 1986 Bmw 5 series 'shark nose' was passing by in the traffic. Nice to see that some old cars are used as daily drivers.

And about the largest selection of micra's ever! He had a red 350z also for ages, wouldn't buy it, they rev the nuts of the cars moving them daily, no respect at all

I'd say some of the 'new Irish' buy stuff off George, otherwise he'd be on the dole ;)

I was amazed to see the pic of this mans Garage,
wee story , ... the other day was killing time while waiting at the Mater, met a foreign chappie who needed a jump start, i had no leads, so directed him to a building site and i strolled round by this garage, saw a man in charge and asked if i could borrow his leads and leave the price of them as as surety. No problem ,i strolled back round the block, guy still there, he hailed a taxi, asked for a jump, no problem ,cost you a tenner said the taxi man, and two shakes of a lambs tail , he was away.

Wandered back to exchange leads for money and got talking to the salesman, there was a big beast under a cover and the headlamp outline told me it was an XJS, but much more exciting to me ,peeking out from some cardboard was a Norton Dominator in very good condition. I asked for permission to take a photo and have it but forget how to add it here.

the cars behind the fence are not his and are there years

    Pleasant little interlude.

happy to hear. I pass daily on my morning route and always wondered, the beetle seems lost in a sea of polos, micras n rover...... Had a lively late model mk3 golf there before very well presented but put off by the way they park agin the bollards outside...

Saw it going away, but kind of grey/silver. Or even light blue. Not really 100% sure.

I've seen this Beetle around Greystones a couple of times over the last few weeks. How does one achieve the rusted look? I'm guessing structurally its sound, and then this is just surface rust?

I think I saw that bug up
For sale somewhere recently. They said its rust effect paint. I'd say it completely freaks people out.
What I'd like to know though is how can you tell if your car is actually rusting?

Simply, because rust usually also causes the paintwork to bubble and the rust-style paintwork would be smooth.

There's no problems seeing the difference at close distance.

And the Toyota is somewhat further gone than the 'rat look' effect.

This Rover yesterday in Kinsale (by James Fort to be more accurate)

    Image423.jpg

No pics, but also red Alfa Romeo Spider in Kinsale town centre (third or fourth generation, I'm not 100% sure because I saw it from the side only) and Porsche 924/944 heading to Kinsale.

one of the guys from discount Tyres did something similar with an a4 avant. He sanded back the paint on panels to bare metal. Left 'naked' for abaout a week or so using as his daily, then when desired effect achieved he clear lacquerd over, et voila

You're off to a good start by simply living in Greystones.
