No pics unfortunately, but an hour ago I saw parked dark red 1976 Volvo 244DL (76-KY-xxx) on MacCurtain st. in Cork. While I was walking around it (checking all the tiny rust bubbles all over the car) a 1986 Bmw 5 series 'shark nose' was passing by in the traffic. Nice to see that some old cars are used as daily drivers.

This is the one I saw: http://cars.donedeal.ie/vintagecars-for-sale/volvo-244-1976/5420155

Don't have a photo unfortunately, but saw it outside Heuston Stn this morning - a lovely white Triumph Stag V8 convertible in top down mode. Stopped to listen to the engine as he drove off ah bliss!:D

Also no pic, but this is quite a rarity so I have to mention it. I saw a 1987 Chevy Camaro Iroc-Z on Boreenmanna rd. in Cork half an hour ago. Dark red colour. I wonder if he pays the motor tax (which is how much? 1800 rip-off units in this case?) :)

    edit:

it wasn't looking this good, but this is what I saw. I don't remember seeing many F-bodies around. Only couple of years ago red Firebird in Cork city centre cruising around and that's pretty much it. The motor tax is really a killer.

    What a waste - using a Rover P6 for this scene ...

Hope it was already scrap, probably was?

1965 Mustang. I drove this thing to Kinsale and back there a couple of years back, and was frankly amazed at how bad the steering was compared to modern yokes. Brakes a bit shot too - I think the oul' cables had stretched a bit. Still though, talk about fun:

    Found a few more pics.

I'll try and use a better canner over the next few days.

The Ford pics were taken at some motor show in Dub in 1991. Some exhibition center near where the IFSC is now..

One of Mac's contributions I spotted a while back. Taken in Dublin 4 circa 91 and the same car 22 years later (now mine). I knew I had seen it posted and it took me a while to find it.

I reckon it looked better in original spec., and i am considering returning it to factory look !

The SL has certainly weathered the years better than the Lada or K30 would have. Quality pays !

Just watching an episode of 'Overhaulin' - Chip Foose has Jay Leno and Mike Brewer checking out his interpritation of an old Lotus Europa

    Speaking of Triumph Stags...

Here's one with a TR6 I saw over the weekend. Or at least my 3 yr-old car obsessed spotter saw them first!

Called around to a lad at the weekend and he had his latest acquisition, a type 34 Karmann Gkia, rolled out into the yard, can't say I'd ever seen one before then.

    WP_000904_zps6f45d787.jpg

    WP_000903_zpsd88aff81.jpg

It'll be quite a job to restore, he says that unlike the "roundy" Karmann Ghia there are no body panels or repair panels available for the type 34 so there will be lots of panel beating involved.

Tucked away in the shed he also has an amphibious kubel wagon and an old ex-army Opel truck and gun carriage a photo of which I posted a few months back. The truck and gun will be up for sale shortly to finance the resto of the karmann ghia.

Sorry for the poor pic, the badge says IFA, from a quick look on Wikipedia it appears to be a former Nationaler Volksarmee (East German armed forces) IFA L 60. The factory were it was made near Berlin now makes Mercedes vans.

After WW2 the old Auto Union/DKW factory ended up in East Germany,
At first they produced IFA cars very similar to post war DKWs, they later went on to make a wide variety of mostly military vehicles.
