I can't see it being that long to be honest. I'd say we'll start seeing trailers and info around March 2011, then every few months with a release in Early 2012. 5 years would be too long to wait for a sequel when chances are they're going to be using the same engine as the last one, unlike GTA:SA and GTA:IV.

Just reading this comment, expecting an early 2012 release, we knew so little back then :P

Lazlow is doing some radio interviews about GTA V with the game being played in the studio for the presenters. Apparently, real LA gang members were used to voice some characters, one guy was only out of jail 1 day before getting the voice actingg job. R* want it as real as can be.

I really love little touches like that. A good voice cast and script can make a massive massive difference to a game.

I presume this is just for the Xbox? I have a PS3 and I don't want another Metal Gear Solid 4 experience. Agony waiting for that thing to load.

I have the game pre-ordered, going to drop the sprog off at day-care, pick up the game, send the missus off to work and plonk myself on the couch for the day. Only 2 weeks left!

Playstation version ships on one disc but still requires the install afaik!

What are the odds that it'll be possible to pick this game up on release day without pre-ordering? Would Tesco be likely to have extra copies in stock?

tesco/supervalu might do, places where people don't normally go for games, with this though the demand will be huge

Given the incredible demand, you really should be pre-ordering this.

At this stage pre ordering might not be enough unless its paid for in full

I can't really pre-order because I'll be working away from home in various locations for a few weeks from the 10th onwards. If I were to pre-order in Xtra Vision for example, does that mean I could pick the game up in any outlet or just the one in which I placed the order?

I don't know where I'm going to be on the 17th so I can't even make plans to collect it in a specific store. Very 'first world' problem I know, but dammit; I want it when it comes out!

Just the store you pre-order it from as far as I know. It's so they know how much stock they need or can allocate to what stores. Last year with Assassin's Creed 3 I ended up having to switch my pre-order from one store to another (well, Gamestop, not XV) 2 days before the game was out as I found out I'd be somewhere else. Was lucky enough to get the last one they had left as someone else who'd pre-ordered it cancelled his the day before.

You could preorder on Gamestop.ie and they'd post it to you. Would be waiting for you when you get home in the evening.

Don't forget Argos also not many people buy games there, and you can have an item reserved as soon as it appears on there site, I have used theme in the past when everywhere else was out of stock.

I seen a big sign outside a harvey norman yesterday advertising the game so that could be an idea for anyone near one of those too.

Someone sent me this link of US GTA pre-orders:
http://www.vgchartz.com/preorders/41525/USA/ (i'd assume its off Reddit)

GTA preorders for the xbox 360 alone are more than battlefield 4 & call of duty ghosts for every currently available console COMBINED by a massive 438 thousand preorders.

    Holy moley!

    Great interview.

Can't believe that was relegated to 4am though, if that was here it'd be the top billing of a prime-time show...

Again, if you live in a major city like Dublin or Cork, you'll get one. Might have to go to a few shops, but you will get one without a pre-order.

The scaremongering about running out of pre-orders is exactly that. Scaremongering. The whole idea is they hold it for you. They have an allocation and will only take so many pre-orders. If they are allocated 300 copies, they won't take any more than 300 pre-orders.

You only need to worry if you live in the middle of nowhere and don't pre-order.

    Just to add to this-

The combined number of ps3 & X360 preorders is more than numbers 3 down to 16 on that list are all together.
Cant wait to see what that figure is in 3 weeks.
