    That should have been out

Johnson and Murtagh really doing the business. Assuming Dockrell won't leak too many things looking really good at 25 for 1 after 8.

Got him! Wright gone bowled Murtagh.

The irony of Murtagh and Rankin being the best bowlers so far :D

Balance gone! 25 for 3. Murtagh again. England selectors must be squirming.

    George Hook will be inconsolable

have to say, Malahide is looking fantastic, really impressive with the set up! I regret turning down a ticket now!

Some over from Murtagh 2 wicket maiden. 25 for 3 after 9 overs.

At the rate they are going we might even be able to squeeze them for runs at the end even if they can put a few solid partnerships together

Yes, poor run rate but I still remember the ODI vs Pak in Clontarf, it looked like the guys are winning but in the end gave away too many runs in last couple of overs.

Still great going. Keep up the good work guys :)

I was there earlier today - what a fantastic occasion - maybe overstretching it but could be one of the stand out sporting events of the year. I know the glorious weather and good Irish performance helps. Malahide looks great - does anyone know if it is planned to be used again or just a temporary installation.

A couple of summer fixtures against some of the big nations next year hopefully!

One complaint - from stand A couldn't see big screen or second scoreboard (3rd scoreboard broken for say the first 2 hours)

This is shaping up well, I envy anyone basking out in Malahide with something cold and foamy! Sky sports text commentary not exactly flattering to England!

PS Malahide is now the MCG, the road across the railway - Trent Bridge ;)

Bopara looking good and murtaghs spell nearly done. 64-4 after 17 overs. Crucial we keep the run rate high and pressure England. They brought an unbalanced team, long on batting which will make this interesting to the end. Would be nice to get rid of Bopara and or Morgan.

need a wicket soon, this partnership is looking dangerous

This isn't looking good, where is the wicket going to come from?

Rankin takes a 4 for and Morgan cruising past 50.

What a depressing day. Irish cricket doesn't stand a chance really :(

    Hardly depressing

This partnership is causing us some serious damage, a wicket is needed fairly sharpish.

It's falling apart. Badly need a wicket. England only need a run a ball with plenty of batting left. Need a minor miracle at this stage, our spin just didn't do the business at all. England need 102 off 100 balls.

    Hardly depressing

Two Irish men being the main reason England are beating Ireland isn't depressing?!

    Hardly depressing
It looks like we are going to lose to an england b team in one of our handful of ODI games in a large part due the performances of two players who really have no business playing for england in ODIs, seems pretty depressing to me

There hasnt even been a chance since Bopara came out right?

The ground looks magnificent. Well done to everyone concerned. Including Mother Nature !

Power play coming up. Hopefully they get careless. England still have enough batting anyway. Ireland excellent in the field but can't see a bowling breakthrough coming. Maybe Johnson will be up to another spell.

  • Registered Users Posts: 713 ✭✭✭wicorthered

Just lack that bowling depth. It was the same against Pakistan. Our opening bowlers look dangerous, but after them there is no wicket taker against top batting line ups. O Brien, Mooney, Sorensen are good players and can keep things tight for spells but just lack that extra bit to trouble top international players. A couple more wickets at 48/4 and we were home, but it was too easy for Morgan and Bopara to play themselves in.

Pity we don't have someone like I dunno Rankin, coming on first change!!!

Not a lot you can really do when the batters are on such form..
