Click on your application tray icon. Select the stock internet app and drag up to "remove" and then drag the chrome app down.

Thanks, but I'm talking about the icons at the bottom of the lock screen. If you drag them up from the tray there is no 'Remove' option, it will just launch the app for the icon you have dragged up when the phone is unlocked.

Drag the new icon over the existing one

these icons are the same whether the phone is locked or not.

    Thanks guys.

I realised that the lock screen icons mirror the icons in the Sense app tray. I use Action Launcher though and the changes that I had made to the app tray in AL were not being mirrored in the Sense lock screen. Just needed to disable AL, make the changes to the app tray in Sense and re-enable AL to make them the same.

    SwiftKey is pretty good.

I've actually installed the new Google keyboard from the market, it's a bit better than swift key IMO!

I downloaded it once and gave up after a few hours. Downloading it again for a second bash as you're usually on the ball!

Doesn't it do exactly what the stock Sense keyboard does, only with a slap of the ugly stick?

I'm looking in settings->apps-> running and see that several games and apps (e.g. Poweramp etc)that I haven't played since yesterday are running.
Accounts & sync I have turned off for everyhing.
    Any idea why?

I killed them all (using Task Manager) but see now that loads are running again:
    Maps
    Google Play Store
    Dropbox
    Facebook
    Flickr

Good few of them keep running for me too. I think it's to do with the settings of the apps. When you download them it gives a list of what it needs to run. Could be wrong tho. Only have the phone a few hours

I do the same as you, and can never seem to kill these apps, I think they always have to run in the background as somewhere along the line, you (we) gave them permission to constantly collect data or something... I found that some apps always run in the background and really drained my battery, i hardly used them as well, like Vevo, so I just deleted them.

I use Go Power Master on my home screen which has a nice 'stop processes' button and i press that every now and then to kill other apps that start running without me knowing. it normally says things like: killed 30 processes and extended battery time by 50mins. but then i press it 5 mins later and 5 have sneaked back... argh!

I did try using Advanced task killer which was more effective, but I found that my phone started to get bugs and behave in weird ways and i had to restart, as i think it killed a few tasks that the phone has to run to work properly...

I prefer it as the swype works better IMO and it doesn't auto complete words when you press . (full stop) maybe it was a swift key setting but it annoyed me as my email has a . in it.

AFAIK, ATK and the like are redundant now, killing tasks like that feck up the way it works.

    Is it just me?
I go to call history and sort by all calls.
However it's not beginning with the most recent calls/calls missed/received etc.

So pissed off yesterday, lost my beloved HTC One X, think it was stolen, so rang meteor and cancelled sim, blocked imei etc

Went to Carphone Warehouse at 1 today, filled in insurance form, walked up to gardai station then went back, they offered me an S3, said i didn;t want samsung, just any HTC would do.

Offered me a brand new HTC ONE :D:D

Took less than an hour, delighted i had the insurance

Contract is up now (50/m) in 2 months so dropping down to that 20/m sim only plan

From despair to joy in a day

On that note, can anyone recommend the best insurance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,207 ✭✭✭miralize

Also, anyone want to "find" a phone in a few months?

That claim above was wit CPW's own Lifeline.

I was dreading it (making the claim) as never claimed before in 5yrs of having an insured handset.

Walked in, filled in form, walked up to Gardai Station to get it stamped, by the time i'd got back it had been approved so no faults whatsoever

    Cost is 14/month i think

Vodafones one is a tenner a month. Dropped my old note 2 in a puddle a few months back and all it took was a two minute phone call. Would have had the phone the following day but they messed up the address so took 4 days. Worth the money...

Bit the bullet and picked up the HTC One this morning.

Well worth the money so far and loving it. Much smoother than my S3 running Cyanogenmod.

I'll avoid the GPE version for now I think and stick with stock.

Put Android Revolution Hd on it...same as stock but tweaked battery etc plus you can wake it up with the volume buttons..really really nice.

    They have indeed.

Head to Settings- About Phone - Update.

There's one minor update and then 4.2.2

I just ordered one or these:

    http://buy.thegameklip.com/products/gameklip-casemount

I never checked that the phone is compatible with usb OTG devices though :o

Can anyone confirm that the phone is / isn't compatible with usb OTG?
I thought all android (from 4.0 onwards) was compatible but it seems some manufacturers don't allow it and I don't really want to root the phone yet. Thanks!

The One supports USB OTG but AFAIK only for mounting storage etc.

Ya, I've been reading up on it today and it seems that may indeed be the case :(. I'm sure there'll be a work around soon given the popularity of the phone, though that will probably require rooting.

Rooting is fairly straightforward on the HTC One.
A guy over on XDA has put today an all in one tool which is brilliant.
Just follow the sequence and it does it all for you.
