What good is it when you don't win an all Ireland

Too early to answer that one, we'll get back to you about that in September ;)

Meh, I've yet to come across any meaningful posts from you in this thread. No point wasting time

Not a bad night tonight in terms of the quarters with Armagh and Derry getting picked off by opposition that wouldn't hold any fear for us in Croke Park. Pity Kildare couldn't fluke a win in Newbridge but they're just not good enough really.

Ideal situation next weekend would be Galway somehow taking out Cork but it's hard to see it. Meath might have a shot against Tyrone though, they haven't looked too great in their last couple of games.

The likely scenario is Cavan facing London in the qualifiers and moving on to the quarters. Would be a good draw to get. Laois or Monaghan would be favourable for Mayo also. I would be wary about the other side of the draw, Cork and Tyrone would be potential banana skins for Mayo but they might give them the good hard intense game they need if they are to have a chance in the later stages. Meath could well get past Tyrone but I think the Nordies will edge it. Can't see Galway beating Cork but I'm sure the tribesmen will give them a rattle, they're picking up momentum.

    Championship is certainly heating up!

I hope we get Cork or Tyrone tbh, we need a tough game at this stage.

If that's what we're basing everything on then the current Galway panel might as well retire now.

    The irony:D

If Armagh or Derry had held any fear for Mayo right now they might as well fold up the tents and focus on next year's league. The only draw that might be sketchy for Mayo is a Cork team not being set up like a Conor Counihan team.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Zippy Higgins gets on at number six. I rate Donnie Vaughan but Higgins could be potentially explosive in this position. We shall see.

Good to see the captain back, we really missed him for the run in last year. I was watching this game a few weeks back, the game that signalled Mayo were back in business! Watch this game and look at the contribution Andy Moran makes, that's what we lacked against Donegal, someone with that influence and class.

Got a stand ticket for tomorrow but might just sit in the terrace if the weather holds!

Mayo will beat London comfortably but I wonder will the lack of competition in Connaught hinder yer All-Ireland ambitions?

Mayo will, barring a major shock, head into an All-Ireland quarter final having not even come close to being tested. As a Galwayman I'd like to see Mayo go all the way but I do think a stronger Connaught championship would help. Right now MaYo are streets ahead of Galway and Roscommon, their two traditional rivals.

The big thing Mayo will be missing is knowledge of which players are operating at a high level Need to play better quality teams to judge it Its a pity Galway had two men sent off Surely they would have tightened the gap much more in the second half After half time they started strong

That match was long over by then. No way that game was ever going to be more than a hammering after the first half.

Galway had a serious off day that day and yesterday's result v armagh confirms that, if they meet again in this years championship it would be entirely different game and a different Galway team

I think all this talk of Mayo not being tested is a red herring.
Its not as if they are an unknown quantity that have been hammering teams yet people are not sure if they are the real deal, a bit like Armagh were up to last night.
People know what Mayo are about and have known for a few years now , and more importantly the management know where they are at and where they need to be at

The heat will play a part however i think Mayo will go for goals and the game will probably over as contest by half time. Mayo 4-14 London 0-10

I very close on that prediction. dead enough Connacht final O'Connor back and in form is probably the main plus for Mayo. Was there really over 21,000 at the game didn't look it on TV.

There was in fairness . Stand sideline and one goal end aost entirely full. Albany end was the only empty bit of the ground . So 3/4 full

Delighted for the minors, beat a Rossie side on for the 3 in a row.

Seniors were in a non win situation and while they were very frustrating with use of ball and pass and score selection let them get it out of their systems now.
I do hope we get as hard an opponent in the QF as possible, we need to be tested now.

3 in a row, happy days.

Fair play to London and their fans. A great weekend for them and great weather.

An auld fella (perhaps in his late 70s/ early 80s) sitting beside me at the game sat through most of the first half beginning second half before asking... "is it liatroim Mayo are playing?" No said I, London with polite grin.. London, when did the English start playing football!

Probably the only thing from our 3 in a row il remember :D

    Roll on croker

lol, the lads I have sitting beside me spent their time eating!!!! Must be 25 stone! To say i was squashed is an understatement.

Any neutrals comment on the ref or does it seem that we always get or complain about the refs?

Donegal in the QF now? ;d

In fairness to London they gave it their best shot. They certainly were on for a few goals and they could have had a penalty. Lorcan Mulvey really showed in the 2nd half and I really think they will put it up to Cavan next week. The quarters is definitely achievable for them. Fair play to their fans, there was a great atmosphere in Castlebar today.

I think Mayo will be disappointed not to have scored more points today. 5 goals is all well and good but there's no way they'll get near that amount further on. Sounds like nit-picking I know but Andy doesn't look entirely pleased above!

Also, never thought I'd see an England flag in McHale park! No sign of Boris either!
