My battery life seems to be worse since the update. Reboot usually fixes it but not on this occasion.

Two things I wanted were toggles and battery percentage, bye bye power toggles and battery widget. Battery seemed to last a bit longer into the night with the update. New home button function improves some apps.

I'm not getting the battery percentage in the notification bar?

Have you used it more ? Sometimes perception is generally the case.

How did you manage that upgrade? I've tried but have been told one month before and nothing else

This is what I've been told
"We could not put through an upgrade that far ahead before it is due unless the customer has bought out of the months remaining on their contract and signed up to a new phone plan."

I rang sales, said I was very interested in the HTC One or the Samsung, and was wondering about my upgrade, they put me through to "Loyalty" I think, said the same thing to them, was nice as pie to them and they said you're not due until December, but we should be able to upgrade you today! I'm on the Select unlimited deal from last year, which shows up as a staff rate on their system (maybe this was a factor) asked was I happy with that tariff (in hindsight I should have asked was there anything better :P ) price was 189. Yahtzee! :D

Just updated, haven't noticed anything significantly different so far.

Only two things I've noticed are:
    - swiping up on the home button now does the same as holding it (i.e. Google Stalker)
    - the new pulldown settings grid layout, which I hate, it's much harder to see at a glance the old list layout

The link I posted earlier shows the changes. Most are configurable, i.e. Swipe up for Google Now, and long hold for settings. The battery and daydreams are custom settings also, they don't just appear.

Is there anyway to get this update if your phone is locked to a network (3?)

S-off, supercid, change to htc__001, update.

True, but if you were gonna s-off, supercid etc, you would have been running 4.2.2 for ages anyway :P

I answered the question asked. Not my problem if it's not the answer they want to hear :-)

You need to enable it in battery settings.

Battery is definitely better, could be a result of uninstalling a few apps that are now not needed.

Battery seems better, and seems to have stopped getting nuclear hot.

No other changes other than the update.

Notification toggles aren't great. Much easier to use power toggles imo, can't see why they just couldn't copy Samsung.

Haven't seen any major difference in the battery life but the software does seem smoother.

Better still, HTC should employ some of the devs from XDA, so you can choose between the new style, or vertical or horizontal quick settings.

edit.....Updated, selected swipe up for google now in options and I just can't do it. I'm perplexed, wtf am I doing wrong. Figured it out, thought it was anywhere on the bar.

    Still.. Also what's daydreaming about?

daydream is like a screensaver type thing.....think it can come on when you are charging or when in dock mode. only looked at it once.

Anyone know how I apply the update with TWRP?

Every time I go to install the update, it reboots, and I get the TWRP menu.

I don't think the OTA likes the non stock recovery. Flash the stock one and it should work.

I rang them again just to chance it and October is the earliest I could avail of an upgrade:(

They told me that the previous time I'd rang about a month ago I think it was. Chance again in a couple of weeks I'd say...

Anyone else finding the keyboard a bit slow with the 4.2 update?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,151 ✭✭✭rovoagho

Mine went apesh#t with SwiftKey, had to switch back to the standard keyboard. 4.2.2 also killed all of the "quick event" apps I could find in the play store.

Were you running stock before? Between battery issues and keyboard problems i think your hardware has an issue.

My battery hasnt changed, that i know of i dont see it better nor worse. And my swiftkey works a charm. No changes.

    Everythings been positive so far.

The One Mini has finally been confirmed. It was a definite purchase for me until it dawned on me that it only has ~12gb of usable storage - that's just pathetic, I've got 15+gb on my Desire S as it is. The wait continues. . .

Please can someone tell me how to get the keyboard up when on a phone call.
It was up before and seems to have dissapeared.
Trying to work with voicemail is a nightmare!

My HTC One has picked up a few knocks over the last few months and I've decided to get a case so it doesn't get any more damage.

I was just wondering if anyone has some across the official HTC double dip hardshell case in gunmetal grey with black caps?

I've checked everywhere online and all I can find is the light grey version with the red cap and grey caps.

Its not the small high end phone everybody wanted, but if priced well could be a very attractive device.

€400 according to the Indo... If that's true that'll be RRP, you might get it for less..
