34 points 3 scratches in Gold Coast this morning. Played well enough, luck bailed me out at least twice where I could've been in far worse condition. 20 on the front with a silly scratch getting into trouble twice on a par 5.
Home in 14 with 2 consecutive scratches where a combination of loose driving and my own head getting involved with the third member of the group cost me.
Finished well enough which is a plus, always the way when I think I'm out of the round though.

Played with another Boardsie who put together a solid round and some lovely approach play.

played very well today, i think i have done one better than my best but it was along time ago so cant really remember if its was 79 or 78.
left a few shots out there today aswell, couple of putts just fell short and a couple of bad chips.

played Rathaspeck in Wexford over the weekend, its a par3 course with a few par 4s thrown in as well. My shots off the tee and general play with irons was very good. But my putting was woeful particularly on th front nine. had 2 four putt and a lot of three putts. Just couldnt seem to sink anything, was frustrating, second 9 was a bit better thankfully and I finished reasonably strongly so I have some hope that my putting issues are all behind. Might play the local course on my day off next week with the good weather.

played today in beautiful weather .
double bogey, bogey start then was 4 over on the 17th tee box 2 easy holes to come but could only manage 1 miserable point .what a waste of a good round :( 39 points of 11 .still last 3 comps all 39 points so playing decent just can't get it done.

35 points off 18 in the Intermediate scratch cup at Gold Coast this morning. Stupid scratch on the 9th was unforgivable. Hit my best drive of the day and bladed a sand wedge over the back of the green. Had to take an unplayable and failed to 2 putt. Beautiful morning for it and an enjoyable game. Weather could hardly have been better in Spain!

Scratch cup has to be strokeplay does it not?

That's what I thought as well. I haven't played that many of them but they were all strokeplay. For some reason today's was stableford.

played terribly mid week, a reemergence of my fatal flaw.

Hit the range before my round on Saturday, sorted out the swing enough to hit the course. Neglected the practice green, to my cost.

I've hit a real pattern of playing well ahead of myself for the first number of holes, yesterday was a case in point - 2 points, 3, 3, 2, 2, 2 - good drives, approaches, sensible well executed recovery shots and if anything I could have been 3 or 4 more points to the good. My lag putting awful on slow greens.

Then the usual scratches appeared. Throughout the round my ball striking was very good at times, but the wheels came off entirely. 24 points.

    32 points today

    4 scratches
    11 pars!!!
    2 one pointers
    1 bogey

    24 putts
    64% FIR
    57% GIR

Played twice this weekend at Moate and didn't do particularly well either day. Had a great start to the round on Saturday, where I was 1 over after 5 holes for 14pts before a spectacular collapse saw me end with just 28pts. I seem to be cutting across the ball on my irons particularly.

Then today I did the exact opposite in that I had a desperate start with only 11pts on the front nine before settling down and getting 18pts on back nine. Was actually a strokeplay competition and I had a nett 81 which is poor enough.

I'm out tomorrow at lads, if there's any talk of where the cut will be I'll post.

Space/Whip IT...Sorry lads, nobody had a clue of the qualifying score.
But if you qualify, you'll have a lot of catching up to do... There was a 48 pointer handed in!!!!!

I won't be joining ye, miserable round, 26 points with 6 scratches.
Driver is not my friend :( pretty good golf whenever I wasn't 3 off the tee.

5 hour round to boot. Torture.

Played this afternoon and shot 38 pts which sees me make the qualifying cut which this evening seemed to be coming in at around 31 pts. Fantastic weather for the weekend and hopefully more of the same next Sunday for the main event. I heard about a 46pt being in but not the 48pt. Great shooting or a complete bandit ;);)

By lunch time yesterday there was 3 41pointers in, when I was down there earlier there was a 43 pointer in now a 48 pointer and they are the ones I have heard of, lots of guys peaking at the right time!!!!

    Very convenient isn't it.

V par yesterday 4up standing on the 6th. Went into kamikaze mode after that and procede to lose most of the remaing holes and finished 3down.
To make it even more frustrating 4up won the comp :-/

    Nice shooting Macker!
Maybe I've gotten it mixed up, maybe it was 46 that I heard.

We were out with the Secretary and he knew the lad in question, apparently he does blow incredibly hot and cold.

Played Dunmurry Springs today and would have to say the new course route is great.:

The course layout on the website is the same as I remember in 2008. Was there an alternative route or has something changed.

Must get back and play it soon.

New 9th is old 14th, 10th is 15th 11th is 16th.... Old 13th is now 17th ...... means you only climb the hill once............ much better layout

Had 31 points off 9 (damn you 0.1 on Saturday!) around Smurfit Course at the K Club yesterday. (SSS 34)
Played of the whites which is a long enough track.
Was 1 over gross after 8 (after 3 putting the first from 12 feet) and then splashed a ball on 9. Very tough stance from the middle of the fairway (ball 12inches above feet)

Nice track, not sure its worth €50 though (got it for 40 on the day)

Bunkers had very little sand which was great from the fairway, but a nightmare around the greens, bounced a couple of them wall over the back of greens.
Lots of blind shots which I am not a fan off, the 3rd (Par 5) has a blind 2 shot and a blind second (and third for me!)

Putted well, ~30 putts, will check the stats later.

40 points today off 7 in the Monday Open Singles. Struck the ball very well all day, had the pace of the greens but was very unlucky that 2 or 3 more didn't drop. Just missed my birdie putt on 15 from 3 feet, that would have got be back to even par, then went on to makes a mess of the 16th. Parred the last 2 though so I can't complain at all.

    GOLFSHOT-73_zps659803cf.png

    5/13 Fairways
    12/18 Greens
    32 Putts

    1 Birdie
    14 Pars
    2 Bogeys
    1 Double

Absolutely delighted. Don't care if I don't win a thing, should be cut to 6.1. Now its time to apply the after sun.

I've been waiting for quite a long time to post in this thread, and finally I can now. Handed in three cards of 93, 79 and 92 for my handicap in Coollattin in Co. Wicklow so I should be getting a handicap of 16.

I'm happy with that given these are the three rounds of golf I've played all year and I haven't played probably 10 rounds of golf since I gave it up four or five years ago. A little bit of practice and I'd like to be regularly scoring in the low 80s and lower without the pressure of being a 17 year old wanting to be good straight away.

I would be surprised if they give you 16 with a 79 handed in.

Well that's what it averages out as, but yeah, I'd say it might be less alright.

I would say it would be less alright. They couldn't risk giving you a 16 then for you to go shoot another 79 in your first comp, that would be 45pts in a comp. (par72)

They don't take average of the three just the best one. So the 79 will count

Well I don't really mind what I get (within reason obviously, I think anywhere between 12 and 15 I could deal with) and I'm just happy to be back playing. Hopefully this time I'll enjoy it a bit more.

    What was your previous HC?
I'd say 10 would be the highest they'll give you.
