38 points off 16 today at Portsalon open week, thought it was good scoring till I seen the winner had 45 points:(

    12/14 FIR
    2/18 GIR
    7 Up&Downs
    29 Puts

    7 Pars
    9 Bogeys
    1 Double
    1 Blank

Thankfully I'll be cut back down to 15 after going up to 16 since the start of the year.

33 Points off 7 yesterday in Tullamore, 80 Gross. Delighted to actually have that score after having 37 putts. Struggled with the putter from distance all day, missed 2 early birdie chances and after that I knew it wasn't going to be my day, though I stuck in there and nearly had my score back on track until I 3 putted for a 5 on the par 3 17th. Drove the ball very well, new Titleist 910f in the bag and it is a miracle club, 13.5deg so it goes like a bullet. Happy with how I struck the ball, need to work on my short game.

    7/13 Fairways
    9/18 Greens
    37 Putts

    9 Pars
    8 Bogeys
    1 Double

    Lesson #2
Dont let 1 bad shot/hole ruin your day.
Other than being half way, there is no logical difference between the front nine and the back nine. Turn it into 18 individual holes (or X individual shots if you can) and move on after each one.

Congrats on the first comp, welcome to proper golf :)

Cheers. Yeah it was the rushed start that had the adrenalin going for a few holes, lost a ball or two and was holding people up so I had to get a move on. It was a weird round, I either parred, bogied or quadrupled! Will try and play each hole individually.

Next one tomorrow, hopefully a more solid round.

Played in an open in Clones GC on Saturday. First time in a long time I put a half decent round together ended up on 32 pts off 24. Putter was stone cold all day had 39 putts in total, 11 for par or better but only made one par which was disappointing but a least I know i'm going the right way and can see what I need to work on.

This really is a mad feckin game!!
Out today - scratched the 1st and 2nd and then dug out 13 points in the pissing rain for front nine.
Was so so close to packing in but decided feck it I'm here now and I'm already wet.
Went on to play the back nine in level par / 25 points and missed 3footer on 17 for 1 under!!!
    Lesson learned :-)

This is the kinda round I wish I had more of to be honest - actually relatively solid and consistent as opposed to the par-scratch-par-scratch golf I often play that drives me demented... didn't hit the ball great but, with 16 shots on my side, I don't have to... still a couple of three-putts in there which is annoying cos both were relatively straight-forward... One double was from the middle of the 6th fairway which is infuriating... but great birdie on 14 from the left rough... happy enough...

Never been so sad walking off a Golf Course as I was in Navan G.C this evening.
Walked off the 15th Green 4 Under Gross and had a makeable putt on 16 to go -5 but got caught up in the moment and 3 Stabbed.
I followed this beautiful 3 stab on 16 with another on 17 only due to the fact that I got distracted on my first putt of 25ft by Kids Shouting On the nearby 15th Green. I'm not a man to make excuse's but this was very unsettling. I managed a Boring par on 18 for a -2 (70) total for the day. Oh what could have been. Considering this is my Alma-Mater and having seen the course in much better condition it was certainly worth the €10 I got it for On GolfDublin.com but not much more. The greens were good, consistent and bobble free which was the Highlight of the Course. All in all 6/10.

I played well for my front 9 to finish with 20 points only to come home in 13 with 1 scratch off 21.
Any day I get out and come home with a red forehead and tired back is a good day imo.
What about the great 15 you played?;)

Sorry about the tired back Ilik. Some day soon you will be able to stop carrying me...!!! No explanation for the red forehead though. Thought you stuck yourself under the trees in the shade all too often to be burnt..ha ha!

Your water tactics could have some merit in cooling off, not the most productive on the card though:D
    Roll on Friday!

Played Dunmurry Springs today and would have to say the new course route is great. The course was looking pristine, only fault I could find was the condition of the bunkers. Then again I know I shouldn't have been in any :)

Anyways played solid enough off white tees, Gross 80, 7 pars, 2 birdies, 7 bogey's & 2 fupping doubles from middle of fairway.... one of those with a wedge in hand
Missed two easy birdie chances on 2nd & 5th

Played in a 3 ball better-ball in Cork GC today.Played well with 1 scratch and finished with an individual score of 35. That's with 3 gimme's though:D
Got on the card at the first which is always good to settle in.First time out there, I rate it ahead of Fota as a golf course, great challenge.

33 points, 86 strokes off 11 today in captains qualifier in grange castle.

Should make it in for captains day next Sunday hopefully.

1 scratch on the card, 15th. Wouldnt mind but it was the hole I was trying to play most sensible. Took 3 hybrid off tee, pushed it into trees right. Got away with it, but had awkward lie. Was trying to take my medicine and just knock out, but duffed it leaving about 180 in. Then shanked my iron onto the 16th. managed to hit my 4th onto the green, but ended up 3 putting due to a very tricky pin position.

Was the only low on the round really, played mostly solid golf.

Probably missed a couple of putts that I should have made.

Will be a very likely 0.1 back, hopefully have a better day if I make it through next Sunday

SC, what do you think will be the cut for Cap's Day? Don't think my 30 will make it :(

Last couple of years its been around the 31-32 mark so presumably it'll be something similar this year too?

I'm out tomorrow at lads, if there's any talk of where the cut will be I'll post.

Played in a Champagne Scramble today, best drive and 2 scores to count on par 4 and 5's, everyone played there own ball one par 3's with 3 scores to count, 110 points for the team, no idea if it will be in contention or not, we all played pretty well though. We didn't pick my drive on 3 holes but I wasn't far away, went around in +2, just playing without the usual pressure was such a joy. Its a great format. I'll hopefully learn to relax and just take it one hole at a time in future.

Definitely a team event like that time to time can help reset the mind for the singles, especially if ye dovetail well.

89 blows around Cork Golf club (Par 72) this afternoon.

Played handy with a cool gentle breeze and nice run on the ball.

Not used to playing on greens that quick and never got a handle on them tbh. Haven't played the course in a few years so found myself hitting a few of the blind holes with a "Hail Mary" approach

I found the lack of directions re : tee boxes etc. annoying. Simple sign or even a map on the scorecard would have saved a lot of bother.

Good shooting even driving blind. Happened to me on the par5 5th, aimed for what I could see and missed left. Parred my second but once we went down to the fairway there was an ocean of green that couldn't be missed on the right.

    80 (Par 68) off 8

was 9 over on the front, +3 on the back with a ball OB on 16 (annoying as I would have been inside my buffer otherwise)

    2 birdies
    6 pars
    7 bogeys
    3 doubles

30 Putts (inc 2 three putts)
    55% FIR
    22% GIR

ball striking improved a little on the back nine, pathetic on the front.
