Got 16 holes is this evening.
Shot +8, round consisted of 9 pars, 6 bogeys & 1 double bogey.

I hit the 3-wood off the tee, I bought it recently, so practiced with it. Generally I played smart golf, but I chipped & 3 putted for the double altough tbh was thinking of something else and just hit the putt....more focus required next time.
Short game let me down badly (to be expected), I need to practice shots from ~100yards.

Hopefully I'll play more this summer but also get 'actual' practice in.

90 strokes, 39 points club comp last Sunday, included 1 four putt and one 3 putt in gale conditions still good for 1.2 cut, thought the CSS would be higher with the conditions but still delighted.

Won my second round singles matchplay last night 2 up with 17 and 18 to play, halved 17 for the win. Was 2 up after 7 and proceeded to blow 8,9,10,11 to go 2 down, pulled myself together and won 12,13, halved 14, won 15 and 16 to go 2 up again. Delighted with the win, I now have a 5 handicapper in the 3rd round:eek:

    Super scoring though boss!

How is right! And he regularly out-driving me the whole way around with a great putting game!

a tale of two days, yesterday in an open in my home course (rathcore) I had one of them days when nothing went my way and had a miserable 28 points off 15 (14.6) the course and weather were fantastic though  and my playing partner and mate broke the 40 point barrier (42) and won the comp.

Then today out in Hollywood lakes for a open, in the wind and rain, me and my sunburned head from yesterday, managed to get around the course in 80 blows for 43 points and my mate who had the 42 yesterday had 26!!! its a funny ole game this golf malarkey :)

Bloody shocking that's how I scored. 28 points, worst score in a long time!

I hit 39pts in shannon yesterday in the open singles and was cut 0.9, The CSS was only 36 which i thought was low as it was a cacking day with no breeze. I want to get down but i thought 0.9 was very harsh.

Stopped playing after 12 holes in an Intermediate scratch.

First time playing the course, in 40 - 50mph wind along the coast.

    I was +17 after 12 holes (13 handicap). Had five 3-putts.
CSS was 76 though, so had I gotten in, in +24, would only have been a nett +5.

Don't think I can remember anyone giving out about getting too much of a cut ever :?

If anything I would have thought you'd be happy to get a bigger cut than you expected!!

It takes a special kind of idiot to turn a round with eight pars into 24-over-par... Jesus Wept... yes, that is a five-putt on 13... into wind, great drive, ripped six-iron to 30 feet... then a case of "I'll finish... I'll finish... I'll mark..."

I feel disappointed. That's because after 11 holes I had just shot 4 straight 1 pointers to let slip the 4 shots to the good that i had been after 7 holes. This was familiar territory to be fair. A few weeks back I'd shot 28 points having had 20 after 7. One difference was that I didn't have 4 bad holes. I had 1, and some inopportune bad shots in between.

Tough day on the greens. Wet and sandy. Missed a lot of putts I'd like to think I should be making. Steadied the ship, tipped away with 4 2 pointers (incl. 2 three putts). Then 3 points, 3 points, 2 points. Finished 38 points and only my second ever time through 90.

Disappointing because I was keen to trigger the ESR. Had a putt on the last to do it as well...

    5 fairways, 5 greens, 5 1 pointers. 36 putts.

Not playing super, didn't feel in control of my swing a lot of the time. Birdie, 5 pars, 6 bogies, 6 doubles.

CSS seemed to be heading in the direction of 71, so that might be only 0.3 cut, but hopefully it's 0.6 which would be 2.5 in the last three weeks.

    EDIT: 0.3 cut, css 71

38 points today on my home course today, Castleisland. Had 30 points standing on the 13th tee off box. Lost 3 balls in the next 2 holes which resulted in 2 blanks. Very disappointed to say the least. But the positives are 11 pars, +3 for 12 holes, 6 up and downs.

Thanks to the dry conditions I got,for me, a good round of 95. But my playing partner had one of those amazing games, and blew past his own personal best by 5 shots.

35 points off 18 in the Club Singles at Ballykisteen today. Had a terrible start with only 3 points for the first 3 holes. Had 16 points in total on the front, 19 on the back. Got a horrid fried egg lie in the face of the lastbunker on the last and had to play out backwards and ended up with double bogey. Finished third overall. Winner shot 37, second was 36.

New irons are really starting to work though.

27 points 2 scratches,8 1 pointers, 4 3 putts, 2 4+ putts:eek: in Bunclody on Wednesday. Played with 3 members who I never met before, gents all of them.

Probably the most scenic 9 holes(back 9) I've ever played. Loved every bit of it even though my putter was stone cold.

10 over par in senior cup qualifier in Roscommon.

Played well, had 2 birdies but 3 double bogeys really screwed me and I was really unlucky to have them aswell. Got some awful bounces :)

    these things happen :)

Steady-Eddie round in the medal yesterday in grange castle

    7 pars
    11 bogeys

Nice to have a round where worst score on the card is a bogey especially when I had to take my medicine on a couple of bad tee shots. Only real disappointment is to finish bogey bogey given its an index 18 par 3 & index 16 par 5.

Finished gross 83, net 71. Pin positions were pretty tough so hopefully css of at least 72 & get cut down to 11

    Same comp as SpaceC (today).
Same comp...but that's were it ends. First stroke play event, so at least that's under my belt.

    97 strokes. Nett 80.
    Some real blow ups!
Some decent stuff in places. Birdie on the 17th so at least there's some 2's money en route.

Need to figure out how to cope with the wind.

HC change 17->18... Captains qualifier next week :) just in time ;)

28pts today. Could not get the ball to drop in the hole at all.

Think its always been about 32-33 points to get a spot for captains day so that extra stroke should help ;)

We'll never know:pac: God bless stableford!Putting for birdie on a short par 4 9th from about 35 ft, ended up picking the ball up.

88 strokes in the Medal over the weekend. Think the CSS was 75 so probably made the buffer zone. Still alot of silly mental errors. Cost me alot and a big cut. 2 triple bogeys and a quad. Two of these holes I had left myself with a wedge in.

Got to love this game :)

Just home from a little spin up to Castleknock. 76 Gross, Played shocking stuff on the front and turned 6 over but managed to get it together on the back with a nice little 2 Under to leave me 4 over total. Course is in great nick and greens were the quickest i have played all year. All in All 9/10.

28 pts off 22 in GrangeCastle in my first ever competition. Got to the tee in a rush as I was late, and proceeded to make a proper mess of the first few (actually 9) holes. 9pts off the front nine. Embarrassing, but thankfully the lad I was playing with was decent and didn't make a fuss.

Got my act together on the back 9 with 19 pts and ended up feeling like I can show my face around those parts again. Lesson learned, don't be late. Looking forward to next comp.

    Lesson #2
Dont let 1 bad shot/hole ruin your day.
Other than being half way, there is no logical difference between the front nine and the back nine. Turn it into 18 individual holes (or X individual shots if you can) and move on after each one.

Congrats on the first comp, welcome to proper golf :)
