How do you install it without flashing it?

The Google edition? You have to be rooted with unlocked bootloader to flash it.

Looks like 4.2.2 update for Vodafone in Australia is in final testing. Hopefully Vodafone Ireland will have it in the next few weeks...

Does anyone elses Sat Nav work? My maps seem to work, but it is always searching for GP've had this problem since I got the phone. I can't continue to use the phone if this can't be fixed.

Also my Zoe's no longer work, everytime I go make a Zoe I get "unable to create vidoe as there is a problem with the original media file" - also headwrecking.

GPS locks for me within about 5-10 seconds when sitting in my lounge. Faster outside.

Haven't had problems with Zoe, although I have read about other people having trouble. Often it is from people upgrading to android 4.2.2....so if that's the case for you then the solution below might work:

"Hi, go into the 'Android/Data/com.htc.zeroediting/files/zero_editor/resources/' folder and rename the 'music' folder to something different and then try the new highlights again and it will recreate a new music folder with all the new highlights working, then you can go back and delete the old music folder."

So I accidental deleted some nice photos from my HTC One. Its not backed up to dropbox. After searching online it seems it is virtually impossible to recover files from the phone. Surely this cant be the case. Please someone tell me there is a way. How could they make the phone and take away this function, it just seems crazy.

All this time I've been using phones, I didn't realise the One is the first to take away the undelete function! Crazy.

Reminds me of that girl who deleted the photos and videos of herself with Beyonce at her concert in Dublin. Apparently there's some super duper top secret forensic way that it can be recovered.....so you may have hope.

At the end of the day, all your photos should back up to Dropbox, and when you do delete something, it asks you if you're sure......

Edit: 2 second search on google came up with this

    http://photo-video-file-recovery.blogspot.ie/2013/05/how-to-recover-deletedlost-photos.html

it does say that you should have stopped using your phone as soon as possible to avoid overwriting data....but that's a common sense thing

Visualise the scene again in the mind and then paint a picture. The mind never forgets.

I lost my HTC Butterfly at the weekend & have replaced it with the One. My initial thoughts are that I love the One; the awesome metal body; the firmware refinements; the simple approach to UI etc... It is really a fantastic phone (bar Blinkfeed).

But... I miss my Butterfly. There was something very subtle about the giant 5" screen which occupied the entire front of the phone, it was a struggle to get my thumb to the notification bar & I did think the phone was a bit too big for me, but I miss it now; the weight and feel of the phone felt great in the hand; the UI was buttery smooth (never experienced it anywhere else, not even the One); I miss some of my widgets, but will learn to live without them...

To wrap up: The One is sophisticated fast and cool. The Butterfly was Utterly Butterly...

I think you'll find battery life is better on the One.

Which widgets are you missing? I know there's a few that have been brought over to the One from the Butterfly.

Specifically I'm missing the sms widget & the vertical bar that holds 4 shortcuts... I would use more widgets but blinkfeed takes up an entire panel and my home screen is one panel (which I like to keep simple) so I'm only left with 3 usable panels...

The battery on the Butterfly always lasted me through the day at least... sometimes two days

I believe so, watching video on mine sometimes it gets almost too hot to hold.

almost too hot to hold watching a movie? that's not normal, watching a movie isn't taxing on the phone....i'd get it looked at.

the one feels hotter than a lot of phones because the aluminium acts like a massive heat sink. the phone actually runs cooler than it's predecessor, and the s4, i believe.

Yeah it's a feature, could be quite handy though, if the electricity goes you could easily fry an egg on the back of it.

Seems the 4.2.2 update is beginning to roll out. Most likely be a while yet before the networks here release it.

There are guides on XDA. Essentially you want to flash an ruu.

If you just want your phone to be like stock, flash ARHD.

What is your reason for needing to get back to stock anyway?

    Hi folks
Thinking about upgrading to HTC One from OneX. I am currently with Three and I see on their boards page that people are complaining about them not sending out firmware updates on time.
If I purchased this phone in Carphone Warehouse would it be locked to Three?
I know I could root it and install custom rom, but don't really want to go down this road with a new phone yet.
    Thanks

The 4.2.2 update is due very soon... maybe today... not sure how quick three are to push out updates.
