its only for text msg alert - not notification alert. Thanks

For a sound quality point of view, you would be way better off downloading the program with bit torrent or something and ripping the sound off of it.
Then follow the instructions here to add the resulting mp3 as a notification

Downloading it and ripping it is easy to do, but ok. To record a sound follow the steps here:

I have been able to set a recording as a ringtone - but i wanted to set it as a message alert - this isn't available in that menu.
I had hoped there might have been a sneaky back-door way of moving sound files into a folder but i cant seem to access any file manager or folders allowing me to move files around inside the phone.

Thanks for your help so far.

Its a HTC One V by the way

Something weird is happening to the link.

Yes, that middle link looks like the one. Clicking that should do it.

Edit: For some reason if I right click on the original link I provided and select Open in new tab, it works, but if I single click, I get the error. Weird. I dont have time to figure it out right now.

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

Occasionally, when dragging up to unlock, it doesn't seem to click. You can swipe to the very top, and nothing. Usually have to screen lock and unlock (power key.) Noticed on both mine and Mrs. Sof's.

    Both stock, unrooted, running 4.1.2.

New owner of a HTC One, very impressed so far.
However when i set my weather to "Current Location" its not picking up my location, i get the following message:

"Unable to contact the location service to update your current location."

    Anybody see this before?

What are they talking about when they say this won't release until July. I've had 4.2.2 for the past number of weeks. Is it just a botched version or something. It's from ARHD and I was under the impression it was taken from an official HTC build.

Anyway, I came on here to say that I've been given $25 google play credit for registering my One. I can't remember when I registered it but I received the promo code from HTC last night.

Yep, search back through the thread, it's happened a few people including me.
I had to do a factory reset, but I think it was down to an issue with an update of the play store.

I know a simpler fix surfaced after I did my reset, maybe removing and reinstalling the play store?

    How did you register it?

This might be your problem - download and install the updated Play Store and you should be sorted.

    Excellent, problem solved, thanks......

You can. Go into the app drawer and drag whatever you want down to the shortcuts.

Is this registering with HTC or Google?

Is there a way to reduce the intensity of the vibrate? If my phone is on a surface and it goes off, it feels like an earthquake is happening!

If you have ROOT and BusyBox installed then you can use TricksterMod

So did I! But did you work out how to use it yet? play.google.com/redeem is geoblocked to exclude Ireland

There was a similar promotion last year when I bought a Nexus 7. Except that credit was automatically issued by google IF your Google account had a credit card with a US billing address. It's as easy as registering another card on the play store with a US adress. It can be made up but the zip code should be genuine. I assume that this is why I've been able to access this link as it directs to google wallet and I have no problem accessing it.

Anybody able to get the sound working while connecting it to the TV through the media link?

wasn't sure whether to start a new thread or not so i'll just put it in here.
the light on the back of my htc one stays on constatnly even if i turn the phone off,it started a few weeks ago.it will eventually go off but only if there's absolutely no power left in the battery.it's really effecting the battery life of the phone,if i knock my phone off at night and don't connect it to the charger it is totally dead by the following morning.
has anyone ever come across this before or know how i can knock it off?
