Just a heads up for Nexus 7 owners and similar (tablets). Duolingo can now be downloaded for it.

The app seemed to be restricted to smaller screens/phones, up until recently.

Learn a language with a vibrant clear interface.

Free. An account is required, but can be created within the app.

Played with this late into the night last night (wrecked now :-) on my Nexus 10 and I am very very impressed! I think it can even synch your progress between your phone and tablet which I am well impressed with!! I'm off to Spain tomorrow to the North for the first time and it may come in handy! Speaking of Spain and Spanish what in your opinion is the best translation app on Android? Ideally one with a decent offline feature would be best as I may not have WiFi all the time.

That is actually really impressive thanks, the most well designed public service app Ive seen. Dont think it will replace my next Bus dublin app though as that has never let me down and saved my ass plenty of times, good to have the train times in my pocket though.

I find the typing in German annoying and it messes up my Swiftkey dictionary with German words creeping in that I then have to manually delete, any advice? I would like to force myself to do an hour of German every morning and it is a very well built app.

I just switch to default keyboard input when using the app. It doesn't take long and the hassle is rather worth it too.

I installed the French and Spanish language packs in SwiftKey and found them both a big help!

So....best translation app out there? I don't mind paying for it if necessary.....

You can download offline language packs for Google translate if that's any good to you.

I personally think it looks awful, doesn't follow any of the Android design guidelines. If you're after train times be sure to check out the companion app for next bus dublin I made :-) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nextTrain

Yeah its not as good as I thought now, theres a pretty horrible 30-60 second syncing procedure every time you open it and it just crashed on me there, bye bye.

Can anyone recommend a decent launcher? I've being using launcher pro for about 3 years but it's a bit dated and I'm getting bored with it. Using an S4 which is unrooted.

Action Launcher Pro is my go to now. After using Launcher Pro, Go, Apex and Nova but this is definitely my favourite

I use ADW Launcher Ex and have done for years. Served me well. There is a free version too.

I like buzz launcher, mostly because you can download ready made packages!

Thanks for the recommendations. I went with action launcher pro, like it so far. Wasn't a fan of Buzz. Might be good if you spend time with it, but I'm impatient and just want something that's straightforward.

I initially got it for just the page capture feature but now find myself using it all the time. It's slick and very nice to use.

What's the best ad blocking app ATM? If you use a good one please mention if it needs root or not.

The good ones seem to be gone from play and there's a confusing array from other sources.
