A slight annoyance - why is it that when you get skirts and there is a belt with them that the belt is too big for the skirt

Poke a new hole in it :)

I know that scales are not the most reliable measure of weight loss. I'm going to do some measurements too, but weight loss is very slow for me so it's nice to see some movement on the scales.

In answer to your questions: yes, yes, yes, no, no. As for my clothes, I think there is a slight difference.

All I was trying to get at is that if you've been eating well, have a calorie deficit everyday and exercise you're probably down more then 1 lb

I get ya; my diet hasn't been perfect and exercise is a bit all over the place so it's hard to know how much weight I have lost. The measuring tape will probably give me a better idea :)

    Arghhh!!

Using a scales to measure weight loss makes no sense!

    Was it the same scales?
Was it on the same floor?
Were you wearing the same clothes?
    Have you gained muscle mass?
Do you have damaged muscle? Your body floods that area with water leading to 'water-weight'

Do your clothes fit better is the best measure, IMO.

    /rant

Yeah I don't get this either.

I also don't really get when people say they lose or put on 1 or 2 pounds and think it matters...that's nothing. I often lose 2 kilos in a week if I am stressed and don't really make anything of it.

And when people freak out over putting on 1 or 2 pounds in a week..seriously?! So many factors could contribute to putting on a few pounds...nothing to get upset about!

I bought a scales a while back. Told my boyfriend we have to move it from next to the bathroom door cause I weigh myself waaaaay too often with it so easily available :o

But I have lost about a stone this year, which I feel is super slow going compared to rates I've lost weight before, but I've been doing it the smart and healthy way mooooostly :)

People's bodies drop or hold on to weight differently though. I'd have to literally eat nothing for a week to lose 2kg in that space of time. Believe me, if I lost that much weight in a week I'd be singing it from the rooftops. Losing 1lb does matter to me, it matters to other people too.

I guess I'm different so! My weight never stays the same. Haven't weighed myself in about 3 months now (batteries went in scales can't be arsed getting new ones!)...but anytime I do it's different everyday. Had a vomiting bug once and it went from 56 to 52 kilos in 4 days :/ My brother is the same. He has to eat about 3 dinners every evening or else he looks ill..

Good luck with the weight loss :)

It matters when you're actively trying to lose it like I am tbh. I always get weighed at the same and in the same clothes. Probably sounds silly but that's my routine.

Am I the only person who weighs in in the nip? Every pound I can get off counts! :P (of course, that's in my bathroom at home. Probably wouldn't go down too well at a public meeting :D)

We got the lowdown on the ethos and what they do with the kids. Met his teachers, saw the awesome facilities. I know one of the parents really well too. Feeling great about him going there now.🐒

Ohh is he moving pre school?

My monkey has been put under pressure to do well in his drumcondras. He's in a very academic school, and because he's clever, a bit of extra pressure (that I don't fully agree with) has been put on. But, I as chatting to his resource teacher the other day and she said he's done really well :)

What were the drumcondra tests? I dont remember doing them at all. I remember doing the Sigma T's, but defo not the drumcondra test.

Tests in numeracy and literacy for him. There's an Irish one too but he doesn't do Irish. Last year he was in the 99th percentile for literacy. I don't think he did as well this year cos he doesn't like pressure. His score doesn't matter to us, once he gave it his best shot :)

Re weightloss, I also weigh in the nuuuuuuuuude same time of the morning. The 1lb down means that I haven't gone up and so can treat myself that day. Also I can loose weight on the scales and feel bloated and uncomfortable in my clothes due to hormonal changes or too many carbs etc.

In saying that, I noticed I had put on a kg in the past 2 weeks, so decided to get it off this week. Must admit, I don't see a huge difference in myself. I thought loosing a stone would transform my body. Not at all! Delighted with how much more in control I feel of my body though!

Three more pups found dumped in a plastic bag in Portlaoise. I hope these people get what's coming to them. There were 2 more last week found and they'd clearly been beaten. :(

lol I passed my QFA exams, regulation and investment
One by the skin of my teeth
Not bad for someone who read half the manuals the few days before... as usual
Maybe I'll do the rest :pac:

The belt will not take any more holes :( Is moving onto a weaker part of the belt so can not.

Re weight: I keep an eye on mine as if I go uo by more than 2lb then it is hard to loose - sure I would love to loose 7lb (to get back to my 20's weight) but I am 39 so being a few lb heavier than when I was 21 is OK.

My darling son has an ear ache, feel so sorry for him.

That's odd about the drumcondras. Our school is very high achieving as well but we deliberately do not make a fuss about them before the test. We agreed that its not really helpful to the children to put extra pressure on them prior to the test. Didn't have drumcondras this year as I'm teaching Senior Infants but to the best of my knowledge the kids were only told the day of the first test to prevent unnecessary worrying/stress.

That is sickening. Why do these people not just get their animals nuetered or better still not bother having animals at all. Clearly there is no proper love, respect or care for the animals they have if they could justify doing that to pups. We used have a neighbour years ago whose dog probably had pups every time she was in heat. Very few would ever get a home, the pups were usually drowned. I could never understand it. Used be crying to my parents about it every time I realised there was a new litter on the way. If I had my way we probably would have ended up with about 50 dogs over the years because of it!

Well, if you lose a pound on week one, and lose another pound in week two etc...that's more statistically significant than losing one one week and putting one on the next week. It can be a big deal if you're trying hard to lose weight.

I weigh myself in the nip, once a week, in the morning before I have my shower (so I am already conveniently in the nip!).

I've been tracking my preggo gain this go, didn't last time. It's cool to see it is quantitative terms. Maybe I should measure my girth too and get you all to GuessMyGirth™.

Has to be before the shower, wet hair adds weight :pac:

Busy day in work today, but heading to Belfast after work for dinner and cocktails and a fancy hotel :D

Then tomorrow I go sit on the iron throne!
