    frustrating day.

Regulation par opener. Fairway, green, lag, tap in. Particularly happy as my lag putting has been very poor recently and the greens were lightening.

2 out of a bunker, 2 more to hit the green, scratch. And so it went. 2 scratches, 3 3pointers on the front 9, turned with 17.

scratch, 3 pointer and then it started slipping away. Some smashing shots and some silly shots. 2 points on final 4 holes for 27 points.

    head down.

4th competition and should be in the buffer zone for first time.

It was V Par and ended up 2 Down in Grange Castle

Front 9 has been an issue for me, played it better today but some awful shot selection resulted in 3 scratches and ended up 3 Down.
    50 strokes.

Got it together for the back 9, 2 pars and 7 bogies resulted in a 1 Up back nine(bogied index 18).
    43 strokes.

Could have very easily been one shot better on the back.... Was delighted with myself walking off with a par on 14 until my playing partner pulled me on my duffed second shot that I had forgotten about :(

Should be safe enough with that, not drifting to 18 just yet.

Played the front 9 in Bellewstown yesterday. Had about 50 shots.

First time back playing since I tore a disc in my back in June 2010. I was quite nervous. Amazing how my attitude has changed. Every bad shot (of which there were many), I just smiled to myself and tried to hit the next one better. 3 years ago I would have been losing the head with myself for those shots.
I enjoyed every second I was out there. I'm just happy to be back :D

28 points in Tipperary town this morning. Another .1 out to 23:mad:

5 3 pointers, 4 of which were pars, 4 scratches. I'm playing well, that's all I have to tell myself. It's the not playing the percentage shot that's costing me. That and 4 three putts to score single points on all 4.

    Captain's Prize in Bandon yesterday.

Started with a routine bogey on 1, then put my drive OB on the long par-4 2 (index 4 and I'm off 22), put another drive OB, caught my third drive well and sent next shot down near green only to pull a wedge into a bunker. Didn't get out first time and also took sand on my takeaway, got out second time and, like all good golfing disasters, finished with a three-putt for 13.

Played fine after that, bar 13, where I hit my first right-to-left drive of the day to go OB left and take an 8. Finished with three pars for a nett 80, would have had 32 Stb points so at least I won't get a 0.1, have to get cut soon though.
Have they lenghtened the 2nd recently, it used to be a drive and short iron usually an 8 or 9, but most likely a PW in this weather.

77 Gross today, gave me 42 points and the win in a Single Stableford event :D

Cut down to 10 from 11

Stroke play competition today, hit a Nett 71. Par is 71 so played to my HC so happy enough.

As usual I left a few shots out there so could easily have been a v good score. One disaster of an 8 and one 3 putt are two examples of where I could have saved 4 - 5 shots !!

Stableford I would have had 38points with 2 scratches ! I think I'm due to get a good score together soon!

Just checked, 431 off blues and was into wind last two days. When did you last play, as what's now the 2nd used to be the 14th? Old 2nd is now 4th

110 blows around Blarney last Thursday. Poor front 9 (60) when using the driver off the tee, lost 3 balls on the 6th.

Switched to 3i from the 9th and things improved highlighted by a drive with the 3w on 16th of 260y. Parred the 10th and a bogey on 13th.

Have to play more often and do some putting practice/lessons.

Holmpatrick Cup fourball with my father today, 42 points with three blanks.

If my own scores had been in a singles comp, I'd have had 41 (off 21) with the aforementioned three blanks - my previous best in a comp was 34 :D

    head up.

booked into an open at the last minute this morning. I couldn't let yesterdays display dominate my thoughts for the week.

Another strong start, birdieing the index 7. Moved to 3 under net after 4. Scratched 8 after a 1 pointer on the previous and I was back to levels. Poor decision making compounded a bad shot. Silly.

    16 points around the back.

    Birdie,
    4 pars,
7 bogies. It's the others that kill me. 3 scratches, two 1 pointers for 34 points. Left plenty out there other than the scratches as well.

5 1 putts (32 in total + scratch) which must be a new low score for me.

5 fir, 2 gir (but I was in the fringe 4 more times).

Played mountain view this morning 90blows out 45 18pts in 45 17pts had 1 blank on the front & 1 on the back lost ball off the tee with the driver , had 1 birdie on index 7 & 4 pars,8 bogies,3 dbs, hit some lovely irons today some nice pitches but my putting was shocking 3 putted 3times so left plenty out there, on the upside had 27pts in tramore comp friday so todays 35pts made me:D

80 Gross today in Tullamore, 72 nett. Few too many Bulmers last night so I wasn't really feeling it. Apart from being within a foot on the 6th and 9th there is very few positives.

27 points off 17 on Monty, Carton House today, casual round.
I'll take that and run all things considered.

Not a minutes sleep the night before (had to pull an all nighter for work) left me drunk with tiredness after being up for over 24 hours.
    Played it off the whites.

Couldn't hit the 3 wood for the life of me, it was straight as an arrow yesterday
Topped it 4 times off the tee... not the course you want to be taking your second from the ladies tee box. :o

Had some some cracking holes in between all the blah stuff.
    4 Pars
    5 Bogies
    5 DB's
    4 Scratches

    Highlights
Giving myself an opportunity of birdie on the Index 1, lipped out, tap in par.
Driving to the fringe of the 13th (nice bounce in fairness)
The Burger on the 10th....a highlight as always

84 around Thurles yesterday in a society day out.

    38 pts off 14.
    9 pars,
    7 bogies,
    1 double,
    1 scratch.

    6/14 FIR
    8/18 GIR
    36 putts

    4 three putts

First time playing there, lovely tree lined course, in super condition.

Nett 76 at Moate off 15 on Sunday in glorious sunshine. Pins in tricky positions and hard fast greens made both getting into good putting positions and putting more difficult than usual but it was my irons on 2nd shots in particular that let me down. Pulled quite a few of them left early on and I was struggling to get a par. Thankfully I had it sorted by the end of the round.

And now my boards handle makes sense I'm sure :D

Played in the Homepatrick yesterday (As I'm sure plenty did) Had planned to play with my Da but he had to go out in an earlier slot, so I ended up playing with someone else, thankfully someone I relatively knew.

Finished on 38 points. I carried my good Saturday form into Sunday although made two blunders that cost at least 4 points. Playing partner missed 4 putts from within 3 feet as well which didn't help. We should have been comfortably in the mid 40's.

Felt we were going strong and had a good shout for qualification but slack concentration cost us. Tough day in the heat though in fairness to not let the brainwaves slip.

29 points off 18 in Cobh on Saturday. Not my best with 3 scratches & 4 1 pointers but considering it was my 2nd round in 8 months I can't complain. I enjoyed the round anyway which was the main thing.

    A thoroughly mediocre weekends work.

2 rounds in, V-Par in Grange Castle, & Open Singles in Castlewarden

    Grange Castle:
Started well, 2 up through 7 holes, and playing well. 1 poor 3 putt bogey to half the 4th being the only blip to that point. Then it all turned a little sour, 8 & 9 were double double, both the result of poor tee shots putting me in the heavy stuff, to finish level through 9 holes. Back 9, was 9 bogeys, to finish 4 down & 0.1 back.

A year ago, I'd probably have been reasonably happy to have taken 9 bogeys around the back 9 there, but can't afford the sloppy shots that cost me what should have been birdie opportunities & safe pars.

    Ended up with 87 strokes.

    Castlewarden:
Was a round of fantastic highs & crushing lows. Started terribly, 4 points after 5 holes, really poor golf, ragged off the tee, resulting in me having to hack sideways on a number of holes & take some serious medicine. That combined with some poor ball striking meant I was facing 0.1 before I'd the chance to get going.

Got the tee shots straightened out from 6 on and made 6 pars & a birdie over the remaining 13 holes. Highlights including a sensible, 5-iron, lob wedge, 1 putt birdie on the short 250yd 10th & a monster drive leaving only a gap wedge in on the 385yrd par 4 15th. Walked off with a simple 2 putt par.

Ended up with 90 strokes, 29 points, for another 0.1

Felt I was putting really well over the weekend, which is a big bonus, lag improving and confidence over the short putts is on the way up. Still guilty of the slight over-read on some shorter putts, but getting better on this front too.

Driving on Saturday & early Sunday was poor, but in the late round was right back where it should be. If I can carry that forward & keep the putting confidence up, handicap should keep heading the right direction

    Played 72 holes since Friday.

36 points friday evening so hit the buffer. Happy enough with the front 9 but a couple of silly mistakes on the back 9 cost me.

34 points in Limerick Golf club open singles on Saturday morning. Course in great nick. Again a very promising front 9 was undone a little on the back 9. Finishing bogey, double bogey

35 points Sunday to hit the buffer again. Steady overall with the wedge play and putting the most pleasing.

36 yesterday to hit the buffer again. The greens were as quick as I've seen them in 2 years and my chipping was poorish early in the round so was leaving myself lengthy par putts. Finished better than I started for a change with a par, par, birdie on the last 3.

I can feel a score coming when it all comes together in the next couple of weeks!!1

    Junior Scratch cup on Saturday.

    10 pars
    2 birdies
    3 bogeys
    1 treble
    2 doubles

Mixed bag. I said I felt like a score was on it's way & it so very nearly came on Saturday. Went OB on 6 and bogeyed my second ball for a treble. I was after parring the first 5 so it was a bolt from the blue. Parred index 1 no. 7 to get back on track but doubled 8 from 100 yards in the middle of the fairway. 2 over for the back 9 still gave me a decent score but a wobbler or 2 still being thrown in there to keep a big cut at bay:(

Had played 156 holes  in 9 days so taking a bit of a break this week. Absolutely shattered from it now so a few days rest is needed, but I feel if I can eradicate the really bad hole a good score will come

40 Points off 8 in the Monday Open in Tullamore again today. First hole I pulled the drive straight into the tress on the left, double to start. Then hit 9 GIR in a row and made 2 birdies. Some very solid play, still felt I could have been a few better but I made a couple good putts and did well to get up and down a couple of times when I did miss greens. Should have a chance of winning and should be cut to 7 now too, well on my way to my target of 5 for this year. A good day at the office.

    GOLFSHOT9_zps1e82e6f1.png

    4/13 Fairways
    11/18 Greens
    31 Putts

    2 Birdies
    11 Pars
    4 Bogeys
    1 Double

    :D

    played sunday in summer medal
drove ball into ditch and a triple bogey to start .:(
then 6 pars and a birdie followed :)
lost my next two drives but paired from the tee .
3 pars and 2 bogeys had me 8 over playing the 16th
were I lost my drive this time wasn't a bad shot it just disappeared
paired last 2 .very happy apart from 3 drives closest Iv'e came to playing real golf since I came back .

played 9 holes after work in home course and best score yet : 40 strokes

    1 birdie
    2 pars
    5 bogey
    1 db bogey (due to a 4 putt!! :-0)

    3/6 FIR
    3/9 GIR

Still waiting on my handicap but my best card was 89 - so will probably be around 18, if it was 18 for this card I would have had about 21pts so very happy.

    32pts in mid-week Singles :(

Annoyed because played well all day but had FIVE three-putts... made one putt of consequence all day - for birdie on the last! Sad state of affairs when you're having to birdie the last to have 32 points... Most likely another .1 back so that'll make me 16.6... time for some work with the short stick!

I feel that pain . All parts of the game in good condition and Putts keep letting me down . Had 37pts the weekend and had 40 putts  On one Par 5 was 30m from green in 2 and walked off with a 7. Had +9 on the 5 x Par3's where 4 weeks ago I was driving badly but did the 5 x Par3's in +1.
Curse of the High Handicapper (20). Long Game Good - Short Game Bad , Long Game Bad - Short Game Good . Then every now and then it all comes together :)

    34 points yesterday.

    Front 9, I was 1-under par with 2 birdies, 1 bogey(on the index 18) and 6 pars for 21 points

and that was the end of that :D

though seriously, had 3 blanks on the back 9 for 13 points. Really had a great chance to shoot a brilliant score and played 3 loose shots and each of them cost me a blank :(

Probably the best weekend of golf I've had.

Captain's Prize was on Friday, I had 39 points, including a back 9 of 22. Playing off 13. Finished 3rd. Couldn't believe I finished that high but greens were fast and CSS was 36 which is low for our place.

Was cut from 13.0 to 12.2 for the medal on Sunday. Went around in 80 shots for nett 68 (par 70). Finished 9th. Last two holes let me down badly - double and triple to finish

I was fuming after that finish, but looking back, I can't complain overall. I got a great prize for finishing 3rd in the Captain's and my handicap was cut from 13.0 to 11.8 over the weekend.
