An enjoyable weekend of golf in cracking weather.

Saturday was a society outing in tulfarris, scored 31 points which was good enough to win my class prize, 32 won overall. Left plenty on the course, including a 4 putt on one if the par 3s.

Then today out for singles in grange castle. Course was in great condition as they were hosting junior cup. 82 strokes for 38 points off 12. Just saw on howdidIdo that I came first, & css was 75 so cut a full stroke. 2 poor holes in the front 9 were the only blips on the card really. Had a great back 9, 3 over, so really happy with my play. 6 putts fewer than last week makes all the difference.

Slightly sunburned, but very satisfied :D

Well done. You beat me on the countback. I shot an 89 and came in with 38pts off Hcap 19.1. Due to the css of 75 I ended up getting cut 1.5 and then got hit with another cut of 1 due to good scoring (this was noted as a exceptional scoring reduction so I guess I should be pleased with my play). The course was looking well and tough enough with the wind and some difficult pin positions. :D

    Nice weather for golf....

Good work trying for 2 wins in quick succession (will have to have an extra word in the handicap secretaries ear :D), would be quite happy to get an ESR, though it gets a lot tougher as the handicap drops.

Have it triggered now, so think its next 10 qualifying rounds that it'll apply to? Could someone confirm, is it 4 or 5 shots better than CSS to qualify for it?

If its 4 shots, and assuming CSS of 72, I'd have to shoot a 79, which would mean joining the sub 80 club, something I haven't managed yet with Fixdepitchmark ;) (its on the list of things to hopefully get done this year though)

Exceptional Scoring Reduction means that your handicap can be reduced if you post two good scores (4 shots better than CSS) in a calendar year.

Some further details on it here.
    http://www.cgc-ni.com/uploads/CONGU%20ESR.pdf

    Space,
If you shot a ND -4,-5 or indeed -6 over the next 9 scroing comps you would get another ESR.
There would be no change if it came in the 10th or subsequent events.

i.e If you were to shoot a ND -6 is 15 events time then the would be no change.

However, you would still have the rest of the year to post a ND of -7 or better and that will trigger another ESR.

    Clear as mud? ;)

Wasn't too bad at all in the end... Started off great, par-par and finished great, par-birdie, but there was some ragged stuff in between... out again in the morning hoping to hit a bit of form...

Started par and finished par, par but my putting has suffered due to all the long game practice. 28 points off 17

88 going around Foyle Golf Club.
Being 16, terrible at putting and out of practice for 6 months I would say that's not too bad :)

35 points off 14 on the monty course at carton house.

Highlight was back to back birdies at 8 & 9.

First time playing it and its a super track, definitely going to head up for the Irish open....

45 shots after work yesterday evening playing 9 holes. It was ok but was happy about the putts, down to 15 from 23 the day before.

The putts stat was helped by a very lucky par on the 2nd. Sliced right onto the 9th fairway and had to hit second parallel along the right due to trees. This left me about 20 yds away from a tree. Flop shot over the large tree and still about 30 yds from pin. Chip over raised bunker and walk to find ball....in the hole for a PAR. lol :D

    4/6 fairways hit
1 GIR **This has to change
    15 putts

Will be out again this evening due to the excellent weather.

Absolute nightmare in Skerries for practice in Jimmy Bruen, really let my Da(playing partner ) down with some terrible golf. I think we carded something in the 90's.

After getting a call from the manager inviting me to practice after he heard I was in good form from the Metropolitan, it was pretty embarrassing to say the least. Unless I pull out some magic in next weeks practice I can see myself sitting on the bench for that : /

34 points today playing off 8. Played well apart from a few holes that really let me down, didn't drive the ball brilliantly and didn't make any putts.

Played my first round of big boy golf earlier (ie. Not par 3). Went round in 112 at Silloge. No idea how many points I got but happy enough. Got decent distance off the drives and played okay around the greens. Putting was awful. Still and all , happy enough with that for a first attempt.

    16 points after 6 holes despite 2 3 putts.
lost a ball in really benign circumstances.
15 points for the other 12 holes...

    36 putts + a scratch
    2 fir
    5 gir.

I'll have to sit down and think about this one. Got way ahead of myself.

After 3 plus .1s since getting my handicap (17.3)... it's welcome to the buffer zone for me!

A nice 30th present, the pints are tasting better already.

Was playing in Castlebar GC, some serious greens, I'd rank them thougher than anywhere else I've played... I was crying for a flat green as I came trough the turn. Bloody daisys all over the course do not make finding balls easy though.

I'm striking the driver really well, irons are starting to come along too, working on getting weight transfer onto left hand side and starting to see divots for the first time ever.
Concentration and getting off to slow starts still an issue.

Delighted to get into the buffer for the first time though... I'm due a cut next week right??? :)

Castlebar is a great course, some very tough greens there all right! The 17th is a beast of a hole!

17 is an even bigger beast when you land it on the 9th fairway and take the "trees are 90% air" approach shot.... Twice.... :(

    31 points of 28 in Millicent today . With 2 scratchs .

Happy with how I played bar a few silly mistakes . Drove the ball very well and putting was solid but still pulling my short irons to the left which is quite annoying

    Lol funny old game
67 today, 15 shots less than last week.

    77% FIR
    50% GIR
    32 Putts

    2 doubles, 1 birdie, 10 pars, 5 bogeys

    nothing would drop all day.

    CSS 69, cut 0.4 back to 8.2
