    Both LE's (I had the DDPSDOJSLE pre-ordered for months, then changed my mind and went for the LE at the last minute). Also got something else, but that can wait... :)

    Love that jap megadrive packaging.

    Yeah it's pretty cool I must say. I've been looking for a replacement manual for it, & the US artwork is just horrendous in comparison

    Picked up a Sony Trinitron 27inch (or 26 maybe) widescreen CRT today for peanuts. Still looking for A 4:3 Trinitron with component inputs but that may never appear or even exist :D

    Hooked the GameCube up through the official RGB cable and it looks amazing, far far better than any TV I've played on in a long time, usually I'm playing through the Wii component cables which does the trick but it just looks right on the CRT for some reason. Maybe its a nostalgia thing.

    Then I hooked up the 360 through the composite and sweet lord its horrendous. Unplayable and unreadable I was O_o at how bad it looked. I was hoping to use the screen for fighting games on the 360/Wii/GC but unless I pay money for a solution and figure out a work around it wont be used anywhere near as much as it should be. I don't remember the 360 ever looking that bad before :(

    Might be a very stupid question but is there such a thing as a component cable to RGB scart adapter or is it a completely different signal? I have component cables for the Wii and 360 but the telly has scart only. I don't fancy spending money on RGB leads for the Wii and 360 when I hopefully will find a TV with the inputs down the line, or can by an adapter I could use instead.

    think that's the way for any games

    Japanese box art > European box art > US box art

    Mexican box art > Japanese box art > European box art > US box art

    Admittedly there is only one Mexican variant I know of, Zombies Ate my Neighbours. Its a cracker though.

    annnnnnd, its furking broken :mad:
    Goes completely out of focus but it happens very slowly, if you change the aspect ratio it pops back to normal and instantly starts blurring again. Balls.

    That's weird. Know anybody that's good at repairing CRTs? Could be an easy fix.

    So this little beauty arrived this morning, DoDonPachi Saidaioujou. I installed the game no problem but can't play the thing - it's saying I need a system update. My 360 is not connected to the internet so is there any way around this load of bullsh1t without connecting it up? Would be nice to be able to play a legitimately bought game. :)

    Is it a standard 360? Ie not modded? If so, afaik the only way to update it is through XBL or via a game disc. The required update is always on the disc though, so this situation isn't meant to happen.

    Or is this the jtag?

    Can't you download Xbox Live updates to a USB dongle? I seem to remember doing that a few years ago...

    *edit*

    Yeah here you go, download this:
    http://www.xbox.com/system-update-usb

    Extract it to a USB and then boot up the console, should auto update.

    Thanks for the replies chaps. It's a standard unmodded old style Elite 360, 120GB or something. I just haven't used it online in years since I cancelled my Gold sub.

    I don't want to update it though just incase I want to get it modded some time in the future - won't a system update, whether from a USB stick or going online potentially/defintely block me from modding it?

    I do have a jtag aswell and can go the download route but would still like to get the disc version working. Obviously I don't buy 360 games that often and wouldn't have bought this if I had of known about mandatory system updates.

    I think with the older consoles especially that they can all be reset glitched at this stage, I might be mistaken though.

    Thats only the avatar update. It's not the actual new dash itself, & those avatar updates are matched per dash, ie

    If you update to dash 14202, then you need to download the 14202 system update via usb {on a hacked console, normal ones do this themselves}

    So I bought a dud. At least I know not to buy anything else for the 360 so. Good one MS.

    Its very strange that the required update isn't on the disc. Unless it is talking about the system update, & not the actual dash version, then Achilles link will work for you. You have to use the exact same version for your dash though, & if it's an old dash, the one in the link won't work. What dash are you on?

    Ah sorry man, the update was on the disc I just wsn't reading it correctly - I thought it would connect me to XBL if I chose Yes. Did the update, dash looks all different now, 'Social' comes before 'Games' in the menu? :pac:

    Ah sure if i'm blocked from modding it in future it doesn't matter I guess. Cheers.

    Got some games from brianon today.

    Mario Kart (JP), Super Gn'G (JP), Final Fight 2 boxed (JP) and Joe and Mac Caveman Ninjas (PAL)

    I think as it stands, all dash versions are currently exploitable. I wouldn't worry about it too much either, once the One comes out, MS will prob begin waver in their security battles with the 360.

    But you could play the disk on your Jtag , no ?
    My Jtag didn't play the last discs any more since the new dash but I found a tutorial on youtube .

    I felt brave so I flashed the Nan myself and that updated the dash to the latest one, it even worked afterwards :pac:

    I don't have the DVD attached to the jtag anymore, there was no point once I'd burned all my originals to the HDD. I have the same problem at the minute with the jtag dash needing an update to play Sai - got a nice guide from EnterNow so going to try that at the wkend.

    /Edit: Had a few goes of DDP Sai at lunch and what an amazing looking game. I'm only playing it on the Sony Trini using RGB scart but seriously gorgeous. Cut scenes at the end of level are a bit dodgy though. :)
    Not sure if anyone else will be playing it on a tv rather than a cab but the following settings got the picture spot on for me (could be different for diff TVs):

    General Screen:
    Rotate = Right Roll
    Link Rotation = On
    Wide Mode = Off (you loose a feck load of screen real estate on the main menus but otherwise the game screen is tiny)

    Screen (per game mode):
    Adjust = 0, 8
    Zoom = 93, 88
    Smoothing = Off

    A lot less dramatic but I got Mario Sports Mix today, a nice collection of games and another Wii game for the collection, hope to get Excite Truck on Monday, a seriously under rated gem that.
    Turns out Star Fox Assault is no longer on the way, should probably give the would be french seller positive feedback for saving me from the misery of having to play it!

    I might do a bit of searching but now that I've tried it again it really does blur out to **** very quickly, blacks become greens, lines change from crisp and black to almost twice as thick and have a weird green ghosting.
    :(

    I'll drop it back down tomorrow and hopefully grab some of the cash back in the form of a credit note or a swap for the little 19" trinitron down there. Might be good for the NES :D Feel rotten cheap bringing a tv back to a charity shop but I have nowhere to dispose of a 10+ stone plastic and glass paperweight.

    Fire emblem was the tipping point for me and buying a 3DS, will pick one up very soon. I usually avoid XL versions of handhelds but everyone seems to be delighted with the larger 3DS. Wonder if the FE limited edition is easily bought.

    It's on amazon as far as I know £189. Didn't get it because there isn't an hard copy of the game included.
