With regards to adding favourite channels, is there a way to just display them in the guide when they've been added? I couldn't find a "favourites view"?

I set up my favourites and reordered them the other day. Since then whenever I've gone into the full guide or the now & next guide the reordered favourites list has been displayed as default. Is that not the same on yours?

Hmm, i'll have to try again and see if I notice a difference but I couldn't see any new order when I checked, just stars beside the channels I had favourited.

TV issue on mine. I get:

"Your box has lost its connection with your TV.
Please check your HDMI cable and settings on your TV or switch to a SCART connection.
    Error code 2040."

Now on TV shows the current show, followed by "HDCP Error"

If I go into Diagnostics - HDMI, I get:
    "HDCP State: Not compatible
    HDMI status: Connected"

    Anyone else get this?

I got this 2080 issue resolved myself before UPC got out to me.

I don't know exactly what it was that sorted this, or if it was a combination of things together, but it's now working.

    * Changed HDMI cable
    * Changed TV settings
    * Changed Horizon box Audio/Video settings
    * Updated TV firmware
    * Powered box off, left a minute, powered back on

Set up Twonky server on my PC and able to access music , pictures and video from Horizon box. You have to specify what folders you want to share on your PC.

However it was annoying to view as you have to press the remote button twice to view a photo and twice to back out to main menu. No options for slide show or side arrows that I found anyway.

Anyone have a different experience ?

I also put twonkey beam on my daughters android phone but couldn't get it to beam to the Tv.

    Dak

When you go into the Google Play store, there are two apps that come up when you search for 'Twonky', one is 'Twonky Beam' and the other is 'Twonky Mobile'.

I installed 'Twonky Mobile' on my phone (Galaxy S2, running Jellybean) and have had no issues so maybe try that?

Have my Horizon box for 2 weeks now. Havent been upgraded to 50MB yet, rang twice last week and was told was in the middle of being switched over, but there is a problem with it. My UPC still showing old 25mb package. Anyone else having this issue?
Also the wifi reception is way worse than the old router, constantly dropping in the bedroom.
yes mine hasn't been shifted to 100mb yet either. still on 30Mb after a week and a half. However the wifi strength is better than previous cisco router and am getting speeds close to 30. Not a big deal as the bband is working fine -- though looking forward to seing how I get on when 100mb hits home.

Are you using the horizon router for wired and wireless or are you using your Cisco modem or router
If using the original upc modem it can't get more than 30mb
My install yesterday about 15min after the horizon install my broadband went from 30mb 50mb
My account shows today I'm on horizon bundle and got email confirming today my phone package same as I had before
Not lost my freetime package also has 400 min international

I know the is a trial but it's been an absolute nightmare. After a self install I discovered several of the TV channels as being very pixilated, pasty and with lines running across. The diagnostics show a very poor signal yet the last HD box showed much better picture quality. I attempted changes including RGB settings, HD and several factory resets. No improvement. So several phone calls later while left on hold UPC finally agreed to send out an engineer. He replaced the internal UPC box and some wiring outside as he said the wiring may need updating. The property is approximately 7 years old. No improvement. That was Friday. I finally got through to UPC again though could no longer contact them through the self install number so have been experiencing really long waiting times and have been dealing with staff totally unknowledgeable about Horizon through their normal 'customer service'. anyway I was informed that someone would call out with a new box Monday. lads that turned up had not been informed about a replacement box so headed off again. They came back today. I talked them through how to install the new Horizon box as they hadn't been trained in this! They replaced some internal wiring. Absolutely no change in picture quality.

Wifi signal is crap upstairs from Horizon box so after dealing with several unknowledgables I finally got my Thompson router reinstated but with a threat of an extra fee! I totally challenged that. When I was informed DLNA will not work I asked about the signal being also kept on the Horizon box. I was informed this would most probably mean paying for another wifi connection. I stated that according to people on this forum it had happened without issue. He informed me that 'whoever is saying that on Boards.ie is lying!'. I challenged that.

Several issues too with remote control and channels freezing. As I said I know this is a trial but its already had many of these issues highlighted from its ongoing use in Europe. It's a little disheartening too that my experience to date including telephone calls in double figures and three home visits from UPC staff has highlighted a lack of training in the availability, functioning and installation of the Horizon Box.

I posted earlier that I got it working with Serviio. Had to abandon Twonky.

Got it working to what extent?

I got it installed today. Very happy overall. But with Serviio (the most reliable of a LOT of DLNA software I've tried) I have to choose between playing some video (using default DLNA profile) and playing all video (without transcoding) but losing the ability to pause, rewind and fastforward (using Xbox 360 profile).

    Any suggestions anyone?

im wondering are you allowed to spend the 12 euro on a few films or is it a maximum of 12 euro on 2 films?

I had wondered the exact same thing. Since (if I recall correctly) their information said "2 films", I decided I'll play it safe and just use it on 2 new release HD ones. It's not the kind of issue I want to have one CS rep tell me one thing, only to argue with another over it.

Hi all I already posted question on tv signal strength
    Horizon box settings
What tv signal strength others getting
Is most of you getting low to just reaching medium
Has anyone got medium reaching high on settings
Signal Quality looks ok always showing high
It's the signal strength that looks wrong to me
I like to know if anyone has signal strength reaching above medium
If yes was any new cables upgraded to house recent
With 6 tuners in box I wondering if this the reason signal strength showing low on most people's horizons box
    Looking forward to your replies
    Thank you
    Paul

My signal strenght barely touching medium but quality full. But i dont just really get it why do you care about that? Do you have any problems with audio/video? I dont have. What i have noticed the software of box is now being updated every day almost, and in fact hasnt get frozen since few days. Unfortunately recorded 5 times the same part of Shipping Wars:) so one issue fixed, other broken.
Also i find the box much louder during night time (pwr mngmnt on auto, red light in front).
Re: media library etc i don use it as it is ridiculous this whole twonky and iphone

Horizon Media Library works fine with windows media player library
    Devices

    Very Important
dont add to library you will have audio drop outs and box freeze
As long as you don't let horizon do a scan the windows library
if you do it will then add all files to library this will frezze box
It can't handle files over 1000

Just search using folders plays all video formats
    No need for Twonky
windows media player is fine for streaming to horizon
Has played all video formats for me so far
If you make the mistake of adding to library you will have to do factory reset and not keep any settings
I find media library good as I have about 4000 videos on external hard drives connected to windows 7 and 8 pc
The low signal strength is not a good sign
Usually you have medium to high and quality medium to high
If your going to be recording 4 program's same time this will cause problems
It may just need a signal boost to box from upc
Try recording 4 program's same time see what happens
Power settings should be at high and turn auto standby off
If set to low will disable phone and broadband if you have red light that's means there off
Set standby to high and avoid using auto standby set to off
Upc installers always auto standby set this to off its one of the reasons a upc dvr box fails
Just use normal on/off on remote to set on standby
It will always make noise at night it's does run checks on software if update needed usually around 1-3 am

Actually i havent tried recording 4 programs at the same time.
Re broadband and phone i have deconsolidated those as it froze too many times at the beginning especially during phone call or broadband usage.
Looks like this box needs much more upgrades to be faultless...

You have the option to keep or wipe when doing the factory reset. It will ask.

Convenience is ridiculous? People have been using media servers for a long time now, not sure how it's ridiculous.
Finding media on your phone and pushing it to the television is fantastic because I already do a variation of it that requires me powering up the laptop and plugging into the TV just to watch a documentary. Much easier and sensible to find on phone, and serve it to the TV.

How far in general does the UPC box reach for wireless connection?

I live in a cosy (quite small) 2 bedroom house and the signal is pretty much limited to the parlour room downstairs and the kitchen its attached to. As soon as I go out the back door forget about it, signal is lost. As soon as I go upstairs to bed signal is lost also.

I've tried playing with the network settings but changing channels doesn't do squat that i've noticed. 5ghz is deactivated also although in fairness i haven't read into what that actually does. Missus is starting to complain now and right enough, i've seen my credit being wiped out also not realising i've reverted to 3G.

I really dont see why I should have to go out and spend 40€ on wireless repeaters for such a small space to cover when this box should do it all.

...... PS using Reddit on 3G is costly. :p

edit: I was also checking out speeds on upc speedtest and laptop shows 37mbs wireless (sitting right beside box) and 77mbs or so wired. Is this normal for 100mbs? I've got a wireless N card in laptop.

Also running twonky mobile on galaxy s2 with no probs .

There is a slideshow option if you select a photo from the tv screen, in otherwords select ok while on the photo to bring up slideshow options.
