Well, After 20 days, i'm finally after getting my money back from Nook..

I also received a letter from Littlewoods saying
    Dear Mr. *******

Thank you for choosing to shop at Littlewoods Ireland.

Please contact our Credit Department on 01 811 2222 to help us deal with your request.

We look forward to hearing from you.

    Yours sincerely,

    Credit Authorisation Department

    I rang.
They gave me a 2 minute message about how they have changed their system to make it quicker and easier.... :pac:

When i got through, they told me that they wanted my correct address :confused:. (They sent me a letter).

I told them very politely i wanted my address and details removed from their database, they told me i can't do that.
If i want to make any changes to my address/details I have to send them in a photocopy of my passport/driving licence along with a hand-written letter to ask them to alter it....

She couldn't tell me what the letter was for/about..

What a joke of a company.. I started laughing at the crápness after i got off the phone, i couldn't help myself..

Two companies i will never deal with as long as live, are Littlewoods and Misco..
Apart from their utterly useless (can't stress that part enough) service, they both seem more interested in getting peoples details than selling them a product.

Has anyone who ordered from Flubit got one yet?

They emailed to tell me they were out of stock and had no idea when or if they'd be able to fulfill my order, so I cancelled and ordered it from Asda instead.

Clearly it won't be dispatched on time. Nothing telling me this though - no contact from LW at all.

Got my nook yesterday, is there any way to buy books for it in Ireland or does it have to be rooted??? It's for a 10year old, I just want to put some kids books on it for him :(

I got mine last week (from littlewoods) and after some messing around I got it up and running.
    • It takes a fair bit of time on the charger before you see anything other than the low battery message (more than the 3 hours they suggest).
    • The software update is straight forward.
    • Calibre works a treat (very simple interface)
    • Adobe digital is a bit more complex; getting the Nook authorised, read the instructions before you do anything. Once set up, buying from Easons is straight forward.

Interestingly, I went to PC World Carrickmines on Saturday and they said they sent back all there NOOK accessories to the UK in the last week? So I converted an old hiking sock into a nook sleeve!

So far so good. Now just if I could get some time to myself to read. Thanks OP!

Crap, was going to go out there this week.

Anyone know if they're still in other stores around Dublin?

I got a cover on eBay for a fiver posted - it arrived today. I wouldn't go paying €34 for a cover!

There was still a few Oliver and Madeline covers dotted around PC World/Currys in Dublin as of Saturday. I would move quickly if you want them. Oliver is 12.97 and Madeline is 13.97 I think.

I tried both of those and didn't like them, it makes it harder to hold the Nook.

Just picked up a nice cover from a guy who's selling them on adverts.

Amazon are selling them for 10 pounds
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B009EAAKI4/ref=mp_s_a_1_12?qid=1369115806&sr=8-12&pi=SL75

but he's selling them for 10 euro . He also does the more expensive flip cover case for 15 whereas amazon is charging 20 pounds .

    Hi

I ordered mine on 01/05 and it was delivered by Fastway yesterday. It's lovely and I was really pleased with it and then someone at work gave me a ton of Kindle format books and I thought I'd do the same as the cool kids and root it - using these instructions - http://lifehacker.com/5889158/turn-a-99-nook-into-a-fully-fledged-android-tablet-in-four-easy-steps

It's gone horribly wrong - I put the software on an SD card, inserted it, rebooted the Nook, got a screen listing the changes to be made and the instruction to remove the card and reboot when the screen flashed black, the screen didn't flash so after 2 hours of waiting, I removed the card. Since 2 am this morning I just have the screen displaying "Your nook is starting up".

If there's anyone out there who could help me I'd be very grateful. I bought for going on holidays on Saturday and was so relieved that it arrived on time. Of course now I think I've ruined it but perhaps someone can tell me how fix it? I'd be happy just to have it as an unrooted Nook.

Oh no - I was planning on rooting mine (whenever it decides to show itself!)

I was planning on using this link to help me:
    http://www.babblingengineer.com/how-to/how-i-turned-my-nook-into-an-e-reader-monster/

Have you tried rebooting it again?

Disaster! Maybe try this solution from http://nookdevs.com/Nook_Simple_Touch_restore_to_stock:

    >>>>>>>>>>>

Method #2. Use this to go back to the firmware the nook was shipped with (use this if rooted)

This will actually restore it to the same exact way you got it from the store. It's the equivalent of restoring your computer with your installations disks.

    Turn off your nook completely.
If you are at the "home" screen then hold power button for 3 seconds and choose "Power off" when prompted.
If you are in the screen-saver mode then hold power button for 10 seconds until screen will freeze or go blank, or text "Your nook is switched off" will appear.
With it off, hold the power button until the screen flickers black for a moment THEN CONTINUE to hold it for another 15 seconds. You won't see anything happen at this point - but the animated arrows will stop typically.
Repeat the above step 6 times in a row. YES, Six is the magic number that tells the nook to do a restore. At the six time screen will get half white- half black and it's a good sign!
Now press the Power Button once to turn on the nook.
The touch screen will go black with a description of what it's doing (restoring). This may take several minutes - do NOT stop it.

    >>>>>>>>>>

If that does fix it, use the Babbling Engineer guide for rooting as linked by dancingqueen, as this is for the more recent firmware that your Nook probably shipped with. Or use Calibre to convert your Kindle books to epub and just use the stock Nook reader, which I think is just a bit nicer and more flexible to use...

My friend made the same mistake. TouchNooter will not work for our Nooks as they ship with 1.2 firmware, and it only works for firmware <=1.1. To fix, reboot it 8 times. this will cause it to automatically start a factory reset. Then install NookManager to root it, followed by NTGAppsAttack for your Google Apps.

Ring littlewoods and get your parcel UPI. Then ring the depot to see why it's not left yet.

I just got a call from Littlewoods to say that my order has been delayed and the expected delivery date is not until May 31st and would I mind waiting.

However, since I placed my order the expected delivery date has always been 4th June.. so my order has been "delayed" and sent forward to 31st May according to the phone call - the online status still shows the 4th June as delivery date though..

Hmmm, confusing! I'm not entirely sure I'm ever going to get this, but I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Clearly my status is a lie - unless they are going to teleport my delivery in one day... nothing updated, and no phonecall to say it is delayed.

    Shocking :(

My Nook was due today from Littlewoods, when I logged in this morning they had changed delivery date to 12/6, without sending me an email to inform me.

I filled out the form asking why I hadn't been contacted and I received an email apologising, saying it was being sent direct from their suppliers and if it didn't arrive by the 12th to let them know.

I just logged back into Littlewoods and now my order has been cancelled, again with no email. Atrocious customer service, simply atrocious.

That is really really bad - make sure you get your money back. I think I will just cancel my order at this stage - anyone in the market for a case? €5
