I cancelled my littlewoods order after they kept pushing my order to the back of the dispatch queue. Eventually I lost patience and ordered it from Asda instead, I'm glad I did now seeing how they've left other people high and dry.

Rooted mine last night and put google app store on it - a strange but largely functional android experience.

My friend made the same mistake. TouchNooter will not work for our Nooks as they ship with 1.2 firmware, and it only works for firmware <=1.1. To fix, reboot it 8 times. this will cause it to automatically start a factory reset. Then install NookManager to root it, followed by NTGAppsAttack for your Google Apps.

Manuals for that rooting are joke, I found in one that TouchNooter will work with 1.2 but not with the higher so I tested 2 different image creators and 3 different cards, half day wasted :-(.

(Half)bricking it was another shock, there should be recovery instruction in every rooting manual - its easy to recover so having this few words added would save users a lot of nerves.

In terms of NookManager - it's good to keep it on dedicated card because it is used to install additional modules as Google Market and whatever and might be handy in future.

There is nice trick if you used miniSD card for rooting and it stuck with 80MB partitioning (even if it's ie. 2GB card). As I couldn't manage to re-format it in Windows, I did low-level format in my Canon camera and it got back to full capacity.

    Hi

I checked the firmware on mine before I started and it was 1.2 so I thought it was fine. I had tried rebooting but the power button didn't always work - even when I held it and counted to 10. It finally went to a restore and has just come back to life. Thanks to everyone who replied with advice!:):)

Just a heads up with using NookManager. When you're creating a backup it takes about 15 minutes to complete (or at least it did for me). I thought it was froze and was jut about ready to reset the thing before it finally completed the backup.

Last week I emailed Littlewoods and told them to pass on my mobile number to the courier as they wouldn't be able to find my house without directions from me, I got a reply to say they'd done that.

I rang up Fastway today to find out why I hadn't received delivery, they said it was out for delivery previously but they couldn't locate my address and didn't have a contact number for me.

    Highly annoying.

Okay not exactly for this topic but relevant and free so hopefully it doesn't annoy people. You can borrow ebooks from www.dlrcoco.ie/library for up to 21 days. Not a huge selection but the more popular it gets the more likely they are to invest in it. You will need to join a physical library though in order to get a membership number.

    Date of Order: 04/05/2013
    Original Delivery Date: By 21/05/2013
    Latest Delivery Date: By 12/06/2013

Delivery date change today and no contact from Littlewoods. Contemplating cancelling and going to John Lewis.
Anybody know the expected delivery time from John Lewis or should I just hold on and wait for Littlewoods.

Pain in the arse how John Lewis says in stock until you've completed all the steps to pay. More hopes dashed.

Mine went through, and they took the money this morning.. Fingers crossed...

I'm not holding my breath, and I won't assume i am getting one until it is in my hand.

Use both, calibre will not let you read DRM copies, or rather DRM copies will not work with calibre.
    • Google Adobe Digital Editions
    • Create an Adobe ID
    • Once you open ADE you will be asked to authorise the computer and you should connect the Nook and get that authroised too. It can be a bit tricky.
    • Now when you buy a DRM book you can open it in ADE and transfer to the Nook.
    • All this is free.
    Calibre is much simpler.

I'm not sure, i think you need a different tool, it should also be mentioned on that blog, I think it's called "Merlin" or "Requiem". I can't remember, but it should be there.

Blackwell's have them in stock again - available for UK costumers only. So i sent it to parcel motel and added BT36 4PX as the postcode to my credit card details. Have a confirmation so fingers crossed it won't be cancelled!

I did. Was cancelled because they don't have stock. Same as Argos and John Lewis after I got all the way through payment details.
