Would you notice the difference from 120Mb to 100Mb? I'd have thought you'd need a pretty special PC and a lot of e.g. HD content to notice much difference.

If you d/l a file and it takes 10 secs instead of 7, would it matter? Just asking....
I know what you mean and obviously its not a significant downgrade but i work at home and do a lot of video conferencing etc so the extra speed does help (once windows 7 throttling is disabled)..

Having followed this thread and read the feedback (which is fairly comprehensive, fair play) I’ve decided to decline the offer of the Horizon trial. I’m just not sure it will be worth the hassle for me.

    I’ve already got:
Digital + HD box with 21 HD channels and Sky Sports HD package
    50MB Broadband
    Home phone (never used it)
    Apple TV
USB connection via Surround Sound system if I want to play downloaded movies etc

Apart from being able to record 4 things at once and an increase in BB speed, I don’t really see any major benefits of Horizon above and beyond what I have. The thoughts of encountering the numerous problems listed on this thread far outweigh any benefits of the €100 credit on offer in my mind. Am I missing something?

I haven't made my mind up whether to accept or not but the EPG and changing channels on the old HD box is the one thing that drives me nuts !

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to 'push' content to the box using Twonky/Twonky Beam? My Horizon box can see my Twonky Library and play content back.. but I can't seem to beam/push content to the box using Twonky Beam.

Has anyone managed to watch recordings using TWONKY yet? I can see them all on my phone, but get "MIME type not supported" when I try to play them.

Maybe I'm asking too much at this early stage.

    What does Twonky do?

Sets up a media server on your device so that your UPC box can play the films.

Oh so basically if I have media on my PC, the UPC box can access it and I can play over my TV:)?

    Yes.

Anyone know if you get a new remote with horizon box. Sincerely hope so cause current one is a pain and so slow in changing channels and rewinding/forwarding recordings.

Also do you get to keep your old box as may use it in the bedroom if can do

Having the same problem here. Can I ask how or where you changed the password. I was not quite so lucky with the guy i got in self install support, he had me do a full factory reset of the horizon box and said it would work after that. Unfortunately I could not check because my son decided to password protect his xbox and he was not here at the time. I know how to change from wpa to wep.

The box is sitting going through it's initial setup now! Gotta say, if nothing else, the box and new remote look a damn sight better than the old ones! The keyboard on the back of the remote is a nice touch!

I dowloaded it from here: http://twonky.com/downloads/

You'll have to ring 1908 to get a license key.

I downloaded Twonky Server rather than Manager. Don't know what manager does.

Right, so after not hearing anything about my order for 2 days, I ring back this evening and the guy tells me there was some change that didn't go through properly and that he'll fix it to go through for monday, just re-confirm that we'd like to keep current package, yeah grand, and that I'd want to keep my router in another room as is and use the horizon box just for TV. He then tries to convince me to use the horizon box as a consolidated box but I keep telling him I need my desktop to be wired, so he says there will be a €90 charge for that, which he can discount to €50. Told him that that was unacceptable and that his colleague the other day never said anything about that, other folks didn't have to pay, UPC reps on here said otherwise etc, but he just kept telling me that the charge is unavoidable and the only other choice is to cancel the order so I said to cancel it.

Is there something else I can do? Re-order it online perhaps?

Is there a way to check whats on now + next on the current channel that your watching, without having to click channel up or down?

Ie im watching sky 1 now, and want to see whats on next? without clicking into guide

With the old box you just had to press OK and the EPG would come up with now + next for the current channel!

    Press 'back' while watching TV?

TV issue on mine. I get:

"Your box has lost its connection with your TV.
Please check your HDMI cable and settings on your TV or switch to a SCART connection.
    Error code 2040."

Now on TV shows the current show, followed by "HDCP Error"

If I go into Diagnostics - HDMI, I get:
    "HDCP State: Not compatible
    HDMI status: Connected"

    Anyone else get this?

Is it possible to have the Horizon box control the volume rather than the TV? I am using optical out to an amp and the kids trashed the amp remote.

Also its a pisser it can't cope with dts audio when streaming to it, given almost every HD mkv has dts.

I have this kinda crappy horizon box (its annoying me to be honest)

How do i access the login page via the browser to change the router settings on the horizon box (advanced stuff)?

How am i supposed to do port forwarding, QOS, read logs etc? I can't access a dam thing!!! Its rubbish!

I need to be able to do port forwarding on my network. I have a NAS and a headless linux machine running on my network that i access when im out and about through my original cisco router (which i was forced to return and is a breach of contract... upc please expect a letter to upper management about this matter from me)?

Finally my original installation had my modem centered in the house with my tv in a corner of the house. Now my tv and modem are rammed into the corner causing wifi dead spots in my house.

Like seriously UPC... the **** is this crap?

Same as.....however it has shown me the fab sound quality of my TV

If your connected to the net on your laptop run ip config and take a look at the DNS server this is your router. Default log in admin admin.

With regards to your other questions I would have expected some research by yourself before implementing it.

Check your IP config, access the gateway IP in your browser. That easy.
