Made the turn today on 11 points with just the 1 scratch. Then played the back nine level par for 22 points. So 33 points was the end result. Might even get buffer but unlikely with todays conditions. Now to keep it going on the next round.

nice going chud getting cut first time out.sounds like an achievable goal.

I played fota today with a borrowed set of irons that I wanted to try out, more so for the shafts. Even tho on Saturday i had 7 birdies down there I'm sick of hitting the ball sh#t so wanted to try different spec shafts.

after parring the first 2 holes I went birdie on 3,4,5 and 6.had a birdie on 9 and 10 and 15.could have laid up on 18 but went for it as casual game but found the drink.my ball doesn't float ha . difference between both rounds was night and day.

I'm planning on playing the irons tomorrow eve just to make sure it wasn't a one off.for a hobby this game sure drives you mad :)

35 points. A bit windy again but all in all an absolutely beautiful day for golf. I'm not going to argue too much with 35 points, I was dissapointed with my approach play from about 100 yards, it had been pretty solid lately but yesterday it was very poor, I left at least 6 shots out there that I really shouldn't have. And to finish it all of I needed a par on the last to finish with 36 points, hit the green in 2, lagged a 40 foot putt to within a foot and managed to somehow pull the putt and miss. Definitely feel like i'm ready to shoot a really good score soon.

5 of 13 Fairways (While that looks bad only one of them was badly placed, the rest just missed the fairways and didn't hinder my 2nd shots at all.)
    8 Greens
    8 Pars
    9 Bogeys
    1 Double

Naas on Saturday in an open.
    33 points off 12.

    5/14 fairways
    6/14 gir
    34 putts.
    1 birdie

again uninspiring solid stuff....was 2 up on handicap by the seventh and probably should have been 4 up. finished with two doubles...very disappointing.

that said a year ago, if I had had this round, I'd have been delighted....so its not all that bad.

    35 points off 14

    33 putts
    20% FIR
    22% GIR

    6 pars
    11 bogeys
    1 double

    meh

Got out for 12 before the rain comes back. Was hoping to play more but was behind Kevin Na and Guan Tianlang . Playing well, 2 bad drives resulting in block/push. At one stage one lad ahead walked 100 yards to show other bloke GPS, A freezer over ball too. :(

    2 Doubles
    2 Bog
    7 Pars
    1 Birdie

    GIR 50 %

So happy again, feel a very good round coming up :), but bad weather back.

Really good round today, game is coming together, i'm in danger of of scoring 40+ points soon. Just have to get rid of my triples and double bogeys. Better course management is needed

    6 Pars
    4 bogeys
    6 doubles
    2 triples

I'll be getting .1 back and that's the highlight. Dreadful stuff...played like a beginner :o

    40 to 50 kph wind.

    +9 on front + 8 back.

4 club wind at times, made mistake of trying to hit ball too hard.
Bit of fun is all it was , hit a lovely 4 iron onto a par 3 , but not too much to take home out of that except wind burn.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,581 ✭✭✭uberwolf

9 holes in the wind. Steady eddie for the most part.
Bogey - 3 putt from the fringe
Bogey - good 2 putt after weak chip
Bogey - 3 putt from the fringe
    Bogey - 2 putt
triple - 40 yards from green in 1...
bogey - 2 putt bogey but topped tee shot
    par
    bogey
double - 5 yards from green in 1.

47 in all. I wasn't hitting the ball well but for 2 bad wedge shots which were compounded by follow up mistakes it should have been 42 without any fireworks.

86 shots in a hard crosswind and rain! Playing off 15 so par on the course (71)

    1birdie,
    8 pars,
    4 bogeys,
    4 doubles,
    And a bloody 7 on a par 3! Disaster in a bunker!

Came 4th in the club comp tho and got cut .3 to 14.5

97 strokes off 16 with another boardsie today.

Wind caused havoc and the double bogies continue to haunt me, a few silly mistakes but I felt I actually played ok!

must say I really enjoyed the round & course. Wind, rain, sunshine etc made for interesting golf!!

Started terrible myself but came good after a few holes only to scratch 3 in a row (15/16 & 17 ) through bad course management and poor shots. Was trying to play safe golf which paid off on a few holes - had a tap in birdie on a par 5 but like Keano the double bogeys killed my round.
    2 Birdies
    2 Pars
    4 Bogeys
    6 Doubles
    4 shockers!

One thing for sure - I need to get rid of my Taylormade R9 - can't hit it out of my way lately. Used Keano's Titleist for the round today and was a bit more consistent. Keep an eye on adverts!!

    Was thinking 50 meself :D

If everything comes together i should do it soon enough. But if i get a little better at each of those i will shoot in the 80's more often bringing my handicap down to my goal for the year.

Brutal 22 points today. Going for a lesson Monday see no can I sort my game out some way. Jesus H I'm still seething.

98 blows for 31 points in very strong wind and occasional rain and hail. Better to finish strongly than to start strongly...

14 points at the turn, only the one scratch in that but a bundle of one pointers. The elements had their influence in some short putts being missed, but some sloppy play was to the fore.

Crazy scratch after the turn and some more one pointers. 1 four pointer later I finished with 13 points over the final 5. Given the elements that may be enough to scrape into the buffer.

    5 / 13 fairways.
    2 greens, 4 more fringes.
    38 putts.

spent 90 minutes on the short game and 45 minutes on the range afterwards. Got a little more feel for what I'm trying to do with the swing on the range which was something. Medal tomorrow.

31 points in Ballykisteen today. 18 on the front, 13 on the back. Ball disappeared on 12 and couldn't find it. Had been going well enough until then

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,349 ✭✭✭Wombatman

Off 18 in Tuam. Lots of surface water on fairways. Lift clean and place everywhere. 35 yesterday with two scratches. 31 today scratch free. All good bar lapses in concentration. Chipping could have been better mind you.

    79; nett 70 today (sss 69)
Was 6 over after 4 so happy to claw my way back into the buffer (hopefully!)

    7/12 FIR
    5 GIR
    33 putts (3 three putts :( )
    1 birdie
    7 pars
    8 bogeys
    2 doubles

finished with 4 bogeys (again!) which is annoying, but it was a tough day with strong wind, driving rain, blazing sunshine and fricken hail twice!

Played in high winds in my first round for over two years, shot a 21 over 93 which I was happy with given the length of time off, the difficulty I had with my swing and the conditions.

Made a couple of nice birdies which were very encouraging and only went into the lake once :)

Lost two balls in total, simply could not find one that went wayward into the roughage from the tee (that was hole 1) and the one that went into the water on hole 7.

Looking forward to getting out again in the coming week, my back gave me some trouble the following day which leads me to suspect my swing has gotten worse then I thought, it felt like I was being very rigid rather then taking a nice fluid stroke.

My putting has always been my strongest point and that held up, the round would have been alot worse other then that, my driving and wood play was shockingly bad, could hit my irons alright, but the putting saved me

Hopefully I will be better on Monday
