Installed mine this afternoon, pretty painless.

Had to return the router and DVR, though from the reaction of the courier if I'd said I didn't have them ready he'd have said "grand" and left them with me.

My Sky Sports has been deactivated, I've rang sales but the CS systems are down so they'll ring me back. Not too upset about that, as long as it's back by Sunday!

Is it just me or is the search function limited to just one word? Bit of a pain if so.

Yeah installed twonky on my ipad mini only because the technician suggested it but the horizon box won't pick it up either

    Hi all,

I'm getting this delivered tomorrow, just wondering I used to have the 150 mb/sec BB but on the new package it's gone down to 100 anyone know if the box can handle more then 100 mb/sec? Also should I give the old equipment to the delivery guy ?

Will ya let us know if your connection to your Xbox was easy,I'm having trouble myself ,no Internet on wifi or wired when I connect ps3/laptop......

Anybody any suggestions,I renamed my ssid and password, and left channels on automatic.my apps are working and the journal is displaying news etc so I'm getting Internet into the box just not out off it

In the past i've found chaning the channel number to something like 9 can really help when using a variety of devices like xboxs and playstations. But that only applies to the wifi connection.

I'm also in the trial.. getting UPC to give me back my modem as the drop in speed going from my PC being plugged in directly by a cable to connecting via wifi two rooms away was just too much. Went from 100meg down to about 22meg but totally understand the reason why and getting the modem back so I can just plug in directly again will sort it.

Also had the issue with the remote not controlling the TV but followed these instructions and all is now good: https://support-en.upc-cablecom.ch/app/answers/detail/a_id/4779/~/connect-remote-control

Keeping in mind that this is just a trial, I think it's a great start and a product with brilliant potential... there are a few issues certainly and I'll definitely be giving them plenty of feedback.

I got the e-mail offering a choice of 2 bundles yesterday. Didn't want either of them so rang 1890940277.

Got sorted in a few mins. ,was able to keep pretty much what I have currently just adding Horizon.

Engineer coming on Monday to install.

One thing, I was told that my bill will increase by €2.50 per month for Horizon, is this the same for everyone? I assume this is being charged in addition to the price for HD (The new box is replacing a HD Digital + box).

Yeah I am now getting random drops in wifi when my ipad goes into sleep mode then when I reopen an app/website it reconnects instantly.also noticed the wifi strength is fine when close to the horizon box(40mb download like my old router even though they said I was getting an upgrade to 100mb) but when I move rooms there is a dramatic drop in speeds unlike my previous set up

Have yet to hear anything back from them after putting in the order on Wednesday evening. They said we'd receive a text from DPD to confirm delivery time as well as an email outlaying the changes on our account, said delivery would be Thursday latest. Will be on to them tomorrow evening if I still haven't heard back.

Do you have N Wifi on your PC/Mac? That's obviously important.

Other things to try - you could turn on Wide (40MHz) channels on the Horizon's Wifi page if that's an option. Also, try an app that scans for local Wifi networks to ensure you're not on the same channel as your neighbours.

    Anyone figured out how to
    (1) Add jump forward and back to the left and right buttons
    (2) To change the day in the guide. I can only go up and down

Did the self install but cannot seem to be able to setup the Home Network. Tried both ways - Create a home network and Join an existing network.

My PC is connected to the Horizon Box via ethernet cable but I get a message saying no devices connected via ethernet.

Do I have to activate something in my PC, install software, change settings in my PC?

Haven't a clue where to go next?

I'm the same, just tv working no phone or broadband. Laptop and mobile phones can connect but no internet access, very frustrated. Called upc earlier and was told they would call back but they never did.

I think you need put the ports in as a range like 500-501

    Got my install done today.

Everything seems to work ok, I'm just trying to get used to it. There are a couple of small things - simple stuff like changing channel:

One question that arose immediately was - is it possible to remove unsubscribed channels from the various menus/channel listings. I haven't got the sky channels with my subscription but I still have to scroll past them (slowly) in order to get to the channels to which I am subscribed. A small thing, but immediately annoying.

Also - the page down button from the old remote and box seems to be gone. On each menu you have to scroll channel by channel, so lets say I want to flick 5 or 15 channels up or down from where I am it's quite a slow process. On the old box I could go left or right and it would flick on fairly quickly, or I could go to the guide and page up or down. Either that's not possible on the new box, or I just haven't been told how to do it.

With regard to the apps, I just had a quick play with the youtube - how do you search for something? All I could seem to get it to do was auto search videos related to the programme currently being watched (spongebob squarepants as it happened).

Hmmm, just watching Vincent Browne and the audio is tiny bit out with the video. Think I had that with the previous box and there was a way to nudge the audio forward or back to sync it up with the video. - Actually just tried it there and it seems you can only nudge forward in millisecond jumps, which makes it worse. No option to nudge it back.

That was first thing I did was to change said to my old one but still no connection

I'm not a network expert but I've found that setting a new box to the old SSID name very seldom works, there are (hidden) network parameters that come into play and your mobile devices just won't work unless you tell them to 'forget' the gateway device in which case you have to manually enter the password anyway so you might as well use the new SSID.

    I've just done mine

    In simple terms

1 Press the volume- button and then the top centre button for 5 seconds (together) until the tv power button blinks twice.
2 Enter your tv code from the list here https://us.v-cdn.net/6034073/uploads/attachments/74897/253145.pdf using the digits on the remote.
3 Press the tv power button (top left button) until tv powers off.
    4 Repeat step one

Actually, I thought I had gotten this to work but step 4 isn't doing it for me. It turns the tv odd as per step 3 and then the tv button flashes slowly, but I can't get it to save/record the code with step 4. It won't blink again for me.

Just to be sure - it's the volume down button and the top centre (source) button (rectangle with an arrow into it) yeah?

Correct but it may not have been clear that you hold down the 'Volume down' (Vol-) button first, then hold down the 'Source' button. That's where I got caught out, I pressed both at the same time and it didn't work.

Here's the instructions from the latest manual....

    1. Look up your TV brand code.
    2. Switch off the Horizon box.
    3. Switch on your television.
    4. First press the VOL– button and then hold it and the Source button down for 5 seconds until the TV ON/OFF button flashes twice.
    5. Enter the TV brand code via the keypad within 10 seconds.
    6. Hold down the TV ON/OFF button for up to 1 minute until the TV switches off.

If your TV does not switch off, repeat steps 2 to 5

    7. To acknowledge, press first the VOL– button again, and then hold it and the Source button down for 5 seconds until the TV ON/OFF button flashes twice

Missing the page up down button, makes the guide painful,
Also the going up and down channels is more awkward.

The tiles on rte player are pure ****e and make it harder to use.
