Got mine yday in Meteor Grafton St on PAYG, Very happy with it, no design flaws as far as I can tell. still playing around with it but so far so good :)

Were they happily giving them out on PAYG then or did you have to sweet talk them into it? Feckers in LV turned me away!!!

Id say they wouldn't have given it to me if the guy I was dealing with wasn't a bit of a soft touch...he asked me three times did I have proof of ID (you need this to upgrade your contract) I then informed him I wanted it on prepay and he was like "oooohhhh yeah, ok" he couldn't possibly say they had none left after that, say he was ragin :)

I asked them straight up if they had any in stock and they said yes. I said I'd take one on PAYG and was informed that they were for contracts only. I was not one bit happy. If you advertise a device as being available on PAYG and there is stock in then you should be prepared to sell it.

After using a smoke grey silicone case for the last couple of weeks, I've switched to a clear s-line one I got off eBay for €3-4. Has a good fit, and doesn't pull away in the centre of the bottom and top like the previous one did. Also doesn't detract from the look of the phone too much.

Cheers, it's just one I've done myself. Have a few themed things I've done over on XDA, mainly weather clocks, weather icons, status bars etc. You need to be rooted to flash though.

    Here you go

I generally try to order only from Irish sellers. Ordered yesterday lunchtime, arrived today. Anything from the UK takes a good week.

Its a shame for the power user that wants a smaller device.

But looks very good against the 8gb iPhone 4s and 16gb iPhone 5 for probably around €350 - €400.

Ordered one of them today to have a case for when I get my new One from VF. I was looking through a lot of cases today and just ordered that one for the moment as its in Ireland and Ill have it for before my phone.

Also the more I see the black One the more I wish VF had it!!

I got this case in the shop beside meteor in the square, was 10e but didn't mind paying it as I didn't want to wait. Fits the phone tightly but the case covers the power button which means you'll need to take the case off if you want to use the phone as your TV remote

I still can't get the tv remote to work for Ireland yet

The work around is to put in a UK postcode and configure the remote as normal.

Strange that some people (myself included) had no problems setting it up, and others can't. Did anyone figure whether the issue is with the phone or sky box or neither?

Has anyone bought an otterbox defender for the ONE yet? Just wondering is it a cosy fit and does it add much bulk to the phone.
Also does it obstruct the stereo speakers and the IR sensor?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think either of those have an in built screen protector do they? It's a requirement for me and I despise the sticky ones you apply yourself.

The Defender is probably the bulkiest of cases for the One. From what I've seen the screen protector does not cover the speaker grills.

I've got the commuter case (I didnt bother applying the screen protector) and I love it.

    :P

i cant see how you can despise a properly applied stick on screen protector and yet be happy with one built into a case, i didnt realise you could still get cases like this

I've only had bad experiences with the self applied ones. I bought a ten pack for my S2 and went through 8 in around 15 minutes, I couldn't avoid that one spec of microscopic dust that causes the most annoying air bubble ever, so I brought the last two into my local three store for the salesman to have a go and he faired out worse than me.

Infuriating things, I'm lucky I didn't put my first through the screen.

Not only do the in built screen protectors still exist but they're after getting more popular if anything, otterbox defender, Griffin survivor and ballistic gel sc.

Would love a few opinions by the way if anyone has had experience with either of these.

good tip for stick on ones, if you have some dust stuck underneath use a piece of sellotape to raise that corner of the screen protector and use another piece to take the dust off the inside of the screen protector

    works a treat

Don't bother putting cases on my phones, just adds too much bulk onto what already are big phones.

What is a thin plastic screen protector going to do that gorilla glass won't??

Pretty sure that if you're that butterfingered, what you need is a ruggedised phone builders have...

I'm having a fair bit of hassle transferring stuff to the phone - don't think it's the One specifically, more of a Linux/ICS issue.

Running Mint (presume Ubuntu would be the same), whenever I plug the phone in two windows pop up which then give an error after a minute or so.
Whenever I open a window manually, it works, but sometimes seems to lose it again while switching between folders. Copying can be either really fast, really slow, or give an error halfway through.

Never had any problems with the same cable with the Desire HD running Gingerbread, but then I was manually selecting to connect as a drive. Not gone on this new ICS thing where it automatically decides what to do, it looks as if sometimes it's deciding it's not connected to anything while I'm in the middle of transferring something.

Of course there is the vague chance I'm making a complete hash of something obvious?
