Not going to happen on a 12 month contract unless you're trading in an old phone maybe. And then it would have to be a very good and new phone, like an s3.

II got a 12 month contract, with €150 upfront on the 35 per month soon after the release of the s3. So it's definitely possible, you just need to know where to look.

What is the best website to buy this phone sim-free or with 3 Pre-pay?

Phones on three.ie seem alot more expensive than Amazon. Any advice would be great.

    These are the prices for the S4 ;

We are the ones with the Samsung GS4 available on all networks so we offer the best deals! You asked how much?
    - Vodafone: Pay monthly from free; Prepay €599
    - Meteor: Pay monthly from €129; Prepay €659
    - Three: Pay monthly from free; Prepay €629
    - EMobile: Pay monthly from €99; Prepay €659
    - O2: we will update you as soon this info is confirmed!
And if you fancy a trade-in GSII owners, get €150 off and GSIII owners get €250 off the phone of the year! http://www.carphonewarehouse.ie/content/Trade-Ins/603?2

    Where did you get this?

Not sure what deal you are talking about but I definitely got at 12 month contract.

From Meteor though who seem to be a bit more flexible.

Did Meteor's price just shoot up for the €25 tariff? From €249 to €299.

The price may well end up dropping to €199 as it did with the HTC One, started at €299 for a day or two and then €199.

Confirmation that I can pick mine up on Friday evening/sat morning from three.

Partyatmygaff has kinda put me off now though.....
I think I'll heed his advice abd hold off till the early bugs are ironed out.

There aren't any bugs on the SIV which is shocking, but Samsung have done a great job making sure the phone was solid before launch.

I rang Three yesterday evening and the Carphone Warehouse yesterday evening after the Carphone Warehouse posted the prices on their Facebook page, for more specific handset pricing I.e on a fleximax 24 month for €40.66 and both of them acted clueless! Now am I to believe that Carphone Warehouse are getting info before the actual networks. Anyway the htc one and xperia z are both €79 on that plan so I can't see Samsung pricing themselves out of the market from day one. If so I can see them loosing a lot of customers. This whole price secrecy is getting a bit pathetic though two days from launch.

I think i'm gonna wait for the hype to die down and see what the best price is this time next month. It's always a pain in the hole when you want to buy a phone on it's release date as prices are all over the place. It seems the shops don't know what they're doing and maybe with a bit of luck i'll save my self a few quid by waiting.....Mark

Ye, I think I will do the same, want to sell my 4s too to help finance the new purchase. I will wait and see if the phone is really as fantastic as it looks on paper. I usually want to have the newest tech now (impatience) but I will wait on this. I am also worried about moving from Apple to Samsung, althought this is not the forum for that talk. Adverts will be littered with people selling their old phones to buy the new SG4.

I presumed it was the eMobile deal for 34.99/unlimited everything for 18 months. I didn't realise Meteor had a 12month option tho....

    Meteor price plans on web.
We're not visable on mobile web page, has to go to full website.

I know this might not bother everyone but another reason to hold off a while is because otterbox won't have cases available till May 1st. So for anyone who wants to fully protect their €600+ device! Another week is a small price to pay. And just look how fast the HTC One fell in price after only a few weeks.

Anandtech's review (or at least part 1 of it) is finally here: http://anandtech.com/show/6914/samsung-galaxy-s-4-review

One surprising take-away for me is that their benchmark's rank the HTC One's battery performance better than the SG4!

Pinch of salt required, some sites will say the S4 is better and some will say the One, it depends on your usage. if you got a day out of the S3 you'll get that with the One and S4.

Im on €25 per month with eMobile. My 18 month contract will expire in June. With that deal I got a free S2 (€150 deposit)

Anyone know at a guess what price I will need to pay for an s4 if I renew the contract?

Are Meteor store selling phones tomorrow or Saturday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,838 ✭✭✭Dr.Winston O'Boogie

I am due an upgrade with Metoer and currently on 35 a month for 200 mins/texts and 1gb data.

However according to the website this plan isn't available for this phone?? Cheapest one is 45 per month for a 24 month Contract.

Anyone know if there is any flexibility with this?

Meteor are selling online right now. I had to search for the s4 then click a link. On phone so no link.

Niallo, that contract is there on the online store.

You sure, it says the below for me? Are you also upgrading?

Your current plan is not available as an upgrade €35.58
    12 months2002001 GB
    Not available

Ah sorry, no I just saw that contract in the buy options. I would assume you can upgrade in store and keep your contract seeing as it's available online.

Edit: checked again, it's an 18 month contract online, not 12.

I was disappointed to see the S4 does not have a FM tuner.

I was looking forward to getting the S4, but this has turned me off. What a bizarre thing to do, remove a feature like that?
I'm worried about the HTC radios, the one in the desire was worse than useless.

Most phones use a Broadcom chip for the radio so most likely the issues would have been with the antenna (Headphones).

Is anyone finding it difficult ti actually figure out when you can walk into a shop and buy one of these? Vodafone and 3 seem to not even know the phone exists. Carphone warehouse saying saturday. Meteor on twitter said tomorrow but can't see anything else about it. Then a lot of the UK stores are saying middle of next week beause of distribution issues
