Are flubit good for emailing you when any status changes on your order? when it is dispatched etc.?

I'm like a man possessed refreshing their site every few hours in work haha

I think they are decent enough. Really no need to keep checking. Once in the morning then if its not left after 1, it probably won't leave.

Think I might give them another call to see what the hold up is.

Edit - Rang and was told it would be dispatched today but I might not get it until Monday. Bit annoying, the girl on the phone was very apologetic but still. Ohwell...shipped out today.

I got an email from them when it was dispatched.

Phone arrived at 5:38am exactly but I've only just got the chance to drive on over to my Parcel Motel and pick it up. I'll post back within a few hours after seeing if it's all good (can't help but be a bit nervous that the replacement device will break down also - I'm a bit paranoid, unnecessarily, I hope...).

I suggest not trying to root it straight away. :)

Way ahead of you! I'll play around with it for most of today without making any serious changes.

Yeah lots of things to do anyway without rooting it. If you like the feel of a different ROM or something, you could try to install a different launcher to keep you ticking over for now. Not the same but could satisfy the urge. :)

I do have an urge but to be honest I'm going to do my best to resist the urge and stick with the stock ROM because of the unique privilege Nexus phones have in getting updates from Google as they come out and because it comes without both carrier and manufacturer bloat. :)

    Right, off I go!

G'day lads, have tunnelbear up and running and set to UK but when I click on the play store devices link I get 'not available in your country'. Is there something else that needs to be done to have it work?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,953 ✭✭✭Raoul

Don't think you have tunnel bear working properly then. Try and log out of your google account first anyway.

Your account may be regionally locked. Mine is nowadays. To get around this you'll have to set up a new account with TunnelBear on and set the country to the UK for safety and use that account to place your order.

DECEiFER is correct. I had the same issue when trying to order. I set up a new account using tunnelbear.

Thanks to DECEiFER and rhonin I've successfully placed the order. But billing address for CC had to in in UK too right? might it still work even though true billing address is in ROI?

No, read back a few posts I made two pages ago* in response to Iggy because it might not be enough to just set the billing address to the UK in Google Wallet. You might need to also do it with your bank. They do often check and I believe most people have gotten at least one attempt cancelled by Google. Only some lucky ones get their order shipped successfully first time, I reckon.

I've also talked a lot about Flubit and why that is a better route to take, so again, you should read some of my posts from two pages ago* as I've explained it to Iggy as an alternative to ordering directly from Google. There's just so many perks when you order with Flubit. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask.

In the meantime, I've got my replacement Nexus and I managed to get through AnTuTu Benchmark without a hitch this time with a score of 17006! Fingers crossed that it stays that way...

EDIT: I said the posts were on the previous page but they were actually a couple of pages back (page 188).

The other trick people are using is to ring their bank and ask them to change the billing address to their parcel motel address. Probably too late to do that but sure wait it out and see what happens. If it doesn't go through it's worth trying that method then.

It might work but you are better to have the billing addresses matching I think. As I said earlier if you are with AIB you can do this easily online with your card reader.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,243 ✭✭✭DECEiFER

But whatever you decide to do, you should decide quickly as you'll only get the opportunity to outright cancel the order within the first hour. After that and you'll have a world of trouble cancelling before either shipment or they cancel for you (which could be days or weeks), which you'll want to do if you decide you want to order with Flubit or if you'd like to re-place the order with Google.

Could someone help me out here,
I want to order a nexus 4, and i have an address to deliver to in UK, that person also has a uk card i can use.

But i wanted to order it from here, but get it delivered to there, internet problems in the house its being delivered to.

So how would i go about ordering it from here(Ireland), and getting it delivered to the UK address, do i need to go through a proxy or that? Cheers

edit : Il be purchasing through Google btw, dont intend on using Parcel Motel, etc.

Go to http://www.flubit.com and on the homepage, stick in the URL for the Nexus 4 product page.

    8GB:
    https://play.google.com/store/devices/details/Nexus_4_8_GB?id=nexus_4_8gb&hl=en

    16GB:
    https://play.google.com/store/devices/details/Nexus_4_16_GB?id=nexus_4_16gb&hl=en

To be certain you get the capacity you want, on the next step, add a "Size" option and stick in whatever of the two GB capacities you desire. Then follow the rest of the steps to complete your demand, which are self-explanatory - you'll know when you see them. Then within 48 hours (it could be as soon as this evening or tomorrow) you'll receive an offer based on your demand. You'll probably pay £235-237 including shipping.

When you go to pay, make sure you add the PM NI address into your PayPal (with your PMID as instructed by PM) and have the order placed with that as your shipping address. Then you wait!

    (Optional):
It might also be a good idea to set your PayPal to bill in the currency the transaction is in and let your bank do the exchange rate because PayPal's exchange rate is a rip-off. However, you won't be able to set that in the Flubit payment window because of the unique way Flubit utilizes the PayPal API, so you should make a mock PayPal purchase elsewhere (I used this: http://dxtory.com/buy-en.html) and once you're logged in, you'll see an option for "Other conversion options." Make the change to bill in the original currency and then exit out of that tab without completing the purchase. The change will be persistent across all future purchases.

You can either follow my instructions in the previous post and order via Flubit to save a few quid on the phone and shipping it over to here using Parcel Motel as the recipient at their Northern Ireland depot, and to make the RMA process easier if something should happen.

Or you can download TunnelBear and use its UK VPN to allow you to get onto the UK devices on the Play Store.

Yes i dont intend on using Flubit or Parcel Motel, so just looking for a straight transaction from Google.

Installed TunnelBear, and it just says 'Connecting' ? Im on a Mac, and ive given it root privileges. Any help?

Edit : Never mind, got it working, seemed to work once I tweeted for the extra GB.

    Ha, chancers!

Just a note in relation to my RMA. TNT refuse to collect the device from here (I have no idea how others managed it) because the TNT account holder is Computer 2000 in the UK, the address is LG Electronics in Poland, and the collection country (Ireland) is a third variable that isn't allowed, apparently. It's because the account holder is in the UK and the destination is Poland, a third country in the mix makes it no good. I was told this by both the Irish TNT and the UK TNT customers services as I said I'd chance calling both.

So what I did then is contact Google Play support and spoke to a lady in the US who couldn't do much to help me since I can't provide an email for the purchase since Flubit handled all that. So I did what I should have done instead of calling Google and contacted Flubit (Fireworks) and spoke to their returns specialist, Dilek, who immediately offered to have me ship the device to her with the return TNT packaging enclosed and she'd handle the collection. Not only that but she offered to reimburse me for the cost of mailing it to London, which I wasn't even planning on asking for as it seemed a bit cheeky. I advised her that it will be about €10 or so to send it via registered post and that was okay by them. Grand job! Another plus for Flubit's service.

EDIT: Goddamn, those phone calls do cost a bit. Over €8 spent since topping up just a moment before starting the calls to TNT.

Have to say flubit sound like they are really on the ball regarding customer service.
I only ordered on monday morning so I've not had any reason to contact yet, I think by tomorrow evening if there has been no movement on dispatch (2-3 working days they say) I'll give them an email to see what the story is and what they have to say.

Is this the one you ordered??

That's the ad alright but he contacted me to say it was just the phone with no extras.
