I can only compare with my Galaxy Nexus, but like for like usage, I am getting almost two full days out of the HTC One. I do however have it in Power Save mode most of the time. I think its outstanding.
I commented on heat earlier in this thread also. It doesn't bother me at all, but on a cold night I love the feature that it can double up as hot water bottle also

I didn't get another 25GB. Already have 25GB from HTC, 50GB from Samsung and that's how it has stayed.....

Umm, wonder why I didn't get that. I've not been eligible for this in the past.

I got the extra space :)

You can now store up to 26.25 GB of stuff in your Dropbox.

When you say no branding do you not even get the Three logo at startup? I got mine on release day from Three and mine is branded (not too heavily but branded all the same)

    My serial number is HT33LW

Just ordered mine from o2. Up to 3 days for delivery :( But at least I should have it for the weekend :)

Going on past experience, you have to do a few things before you get the space, such as download Dropbox on your pc, add a friend etc.

Log in to Dropbox on your pc and follow the getting started guide.

You have to start uploading pictures to it, in order to get it, I think :) You don't earn any extra space if you got your promotion from a previous HTC or Samsung phone though :(

Though I think I have enough to keep me going for a while

Got mine today from Three, excellent next day service, even a text with a 3-hour window in which it would be delivered

serial number for those who care is HT344 so it was made less than two weeks ago! That said, even with what must be one of the newest batches, you would not want to be OCD with the build quality. Very slight bulges in the Au and the machining of the polycarbonate at the sim drawer and the headphone slot is rough but doesn't really matter

My only real problem is the fact I have a normal sim and Three did not send out a microsim with the phone so I have to go to a store to get one, completely ruining the next day delivery!!

I got mine from Amazon yesterday, built on the 27th of March. It does have the gap people are complaining about, but it's a very, very thin gap. Similarly, the speaker grilles aren't exactly flush with the screen, but this you'd really have to go looking for. I'll wait and see what HTC's longer term response is, but I'm very likely to keep it, it's near perfect.

The only other thing I've noticed is that the soft-button lights are very lax to come on compared to previous HTC handsets (I've had a string of them now). Dunno if it's a fault or by design to save battery, but it's a wee bit annoying in low light situations. And it does get a bit hot, but so did my One X.

Having great fun with it, must unlock the bootloader before I get carried away and make it more awkward for myself.

Got mine on Saturday - from Vodafone. Serial is FA33TW. No issues at all with the build quality - looks perfect to my eye.

Upgraded from the Galaxy S2, and coming from that, the battery life is so much better...I am a quite heavy user (not so much phone calls, but lots of email/internet) and so far no issues getting thru the day with plenty of juice to spare.

I was going to wait for the S4, and also considered the Sony Experia Z, but in the end, the One is simply the best looking/best quality build by a long ways. Only gripe is that the power/wake up button is hard to reach in single handed use, otherwise I can't find anything to complain about.

Love the zoe camera software, and I though I would hate the blinkfeed homescreen but its actually quite useful - no need to launch individual apps for news/twitter/fb updates, etc. And the sound quality from the speakers is every bit as good as the marketing adverts make out!

I have 3 branding on startup.
I'm coming from an iPhone and I think I prefer ny iPhone :(

can anyone tell me how to fast forward when using the headphones when i double tap all it does is call the last dialled number.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 426 ✭✭ULMarc

I have the non flush speaker grills as described above. Don't know if it's a defect or just the lay of the phone. The top grill is shallower than the display. And the bottom grill is deeper than the display.

I must say the sound from the speakers is amazing. I was shocked by the amount of presence they seem to have. The tones are nice and clear. Though 'm experiencing some ocasional popping. Haven't fooled around long enough to determine if the cause is the audio, the speakers or the EQ but will keep an eye on it for sure.

I don't have any carrier branding (meteor) on mine. There are these stickers in the box. The kind of ones a carrier would use to reseal the device post processing. So I'm going to pick up a sim from another network tomorrow and try it out.

The TV remote is fun. Pick what show you want to watch and it selects the appropriate channel on Sky. This might be fun at work.

Oh fingers crossed so. Did they mention anything about the Beats headphones?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 426 ✭✭ULMarc

No beats are packaged with the phone. HTC don't do that anymore. And nothing was mentioned about them. Though I did see that O2 are giving away a limited number of Solo's (is that the right one?)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 385 ✭✭Macca3000

Ah ok. I was hoping the in ear ones wold be with it. Yes thats the offer but the email and last transaction screen had no mention of them. I was hoping to sell them on and put the money towards the phone lol.

And I see its out of stock on the website again. Navan store had 2 in stock today if anyone is interested.

Well folks, I bought one of these and loved it, that is until I plugged in the headphones and some crazy crap started happening - I.e: it made phonecalls to my contacts when the headphones jack was barely touched - very annoying and made listening to music impossible.
Took it back after two days and the shop exchanged it and the new one didn't have this problem but this one had a faulty camera where the screen flickered.
Long story short - I swapped for an iPhone.
Previously had a HTC wildfire and the phone was bulletproof, still is.
I for one have lost all faith in HTC's quality control.
Ridiculous for a 600 quid phone.
Also, the controls aren't as smooth as the iPhone when playing games.
Sure it looks cool and has lots of great, if somewhat pointless features -like changing channels on the t.v, which didn't work for me either funnily enough - but really there's no point if you can't rely on its basic functionality.
Maybe I was unlucky but I will never buy another HTC again.
