I don't know what to make of the battery. How long should I be expecting with a full battery. With mostly Internet surfing on 3g. bluetooth is also switched on as I need it in my car. I plugged it out an hour ago and it's gone from 90% to 73% in one hour and 3mins.and Google chrome is using 26 percent of battery in the power menu.

Just ordered mine form Meteor. The rep said they expect to receive stock in tomorrow. Though he said it would take 3-4 days to deliver. I expect this is him covering himself. He asked me if I'd rather call into store to upgrade it but I went ahead with the over the phone purchase.

Anyway, they had the black option too but I went with silver. They had no 64GB variants.

How did you do this, its not on the website yet.
What package did you go for?

I'm using the Otterbox commuter and it's a great case. Not too big but it feels like it could cushion the phone from a considerable drop.
It also gives you a better grip on the phone as I find the metal very slippy.

I was looking at the commuter case as i taught the defender case would be too big.

Can you tell me where you ordered the case as I wouldn't want to get a fake on ebay.

Might get this phone on the €30pm 18month Meteor contract.
Is there anyway to connect or stream the content of my phone on my tv?
Does anyone regret getting this phone or wish they had of waited for the S4 instead?

Wow that is not encouraging. I'm sick to death of crap battery performance. Its ridiculous for a phone not to last a day even with heavy usage

All i can comment on is my One and that easily lasts the day and thats with heavy use! ironically dropbox is a battery hog i have the instant camera upload turned off as the zoe files are rather large. This might account for some peoples batteries not lasting the full day because apart from that i use my phone constantly internet music surfing viber texts calls and i've never had to charge it before bed time :-)

Interesting thanks for that. Must look into Dropbox. Any others that are well known battery hogs?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,314 ✭✭✭jones

I dont even think dropbox is a known battery hog as such, its just on the One the 'zoe' files are massive and it means dropbox is uploading them throughout the day which will obviously affect battery life.

Considering upgrading to the One from my Sensation XE. The reception on my sensation is useless outside of towns and citys, i get no signal a lot. Does anyone know if the One is any better? Thanks!

Anyone know how to change the dock icons on the lockscreen. Using nova launcher but can't seem to change the apps on my lockscreen?

More a network issue than phone issue no? In saying that i seem to have better reception in the same area's than i did with my old S2 (also on three network)

Battery life is not an issue. I have mine in power save mode (although not all options selected), as I don't use the phone for gaming, and I think the battery life is really good.

I have used it quite heavily today, been doing a lot of browsing etc. I have also used the camera a fair bit, so have had close to 100 photos (probably 200MB) uploaded to dropbox. Am currently on about 30% with 4.5 hours screen on time. Will end the day with close to 6 hours screen on I'd say...can't complain.

Pretty sure the lockscreen just reflects the icons you have in the dock in sense. You'll have to change it through the sense interface.

I had a desire before that and i never had a problem, seems to be common with the sensation. Just want to be sure before changing again!

I got it from the Otterbox website.

You need to do it from the app drawer. Not very intuitive as it caught me out too.

Must I turn off nova launcher first and do it through sense? Or can I do it through nova. I have sense turned off but the lockscreen still has the old sense dock and when I unlock it goes into my new nova home screen with my nova dock. I might not be making sense because this is my first Android device. Have been ios for last 5 years.

I didn't choose the HTC one until today so had the option of either phone, the s4 and the HTC one are close in specs both have there pro's and con's the s4 probably slightly ahead in raw specs.

The reason I chose the htc one over the s4 was mostly the design if i'm honest the HTC one was more exciting.

Yeah, basically you have to go into settings > apps > Nova

    When in Nova clear defaults

Hit the home screen, select Sense (just this time or whatever). When in Sense open app drawer, and while in app drawer, select the icons for the Sense dock (the ones you want for Lock Screen)

After this, hit Home, this time select Nova (always) and you should be done.

I know it's a bit of a pita, but I guess you're mixing Nova Launcher with Sense Lockscreen. There's other ways of doing it, but this should work.

It is probably a network issue with you, but I am finding the reception in my house on the One far better than my old Desire HD, which used to flash up a "no network" message annoyingly in the middle of other actions. Now, when the One can't find the network, it shuts the f up about it!!

Thanks very much. I'm all new to launchers etc. Reason I use nova is because I don't like Blinkfeed and that was the only way I found to get rid of it. (I'm sure there are other ways) Do you know how to get rid of Facebook birthdays in my calendar. Thanks for all your help.

I'm assuming that you can go something like calendar > settings > accounts to get rid of Facebook. I use Business Calendar Pro so not entirely sure with stock calendar.

To get rid of Blinkfeed, you can just add more homescreens, then make one of the other ones your homescreen. Blinkfeed will always stay as your furthermost left screen, but you just don't use it.

Nova is cool though, it's what I used to use when I had Samsung devices. Have always liked the feel of Sense though.

I have a discount I got with my Galaxy Nexus. It's the 50 euro package but I'm paying 25. I won't let it out of my hands :)

It has HDMI out over MHL

Just opened mine. Is there any way of changing the home screen to just show apps? At the moment I have two big blue boxes...get the latest news .... And a tips box.

Can you change the home screen from having feeds?

Look up 3 posts and your answer is there. As to adding more homescreens, the phone probably has a tutorial already loaded, or it'll be in the manual. Perhaps even in the tips box?

Pinch on the homescreen. Add panels. Make one of the other panels your home screen by selecting it and dragging it up to 'set as home'. Personalise however you want.
