Ordered mine from Amazon.co.uk on Tuesday night, was shipped to PM on Thursday morning, arrived in PM Belfast this morning at 11:30 and was delivered to PM in Carlow at half nine tonight.

How much does it work out in euro on amazon as compared to buying it directly from Google.?

Hey guys, such a helpful thread.

I am really interested in the 8gb model. Is the flubit method of ordering now the recommended cheapest /easiest way of ordering? Has it been pretty seamless for people thus far? Just put in your irish credit card details and parcel motel address and that's all thats needed for it to go through without a hitch?
Apologies if that's already been answered.

Can anyone say what the average all-in price works out at for the 8gb going through flubit? I see £235 on the last page, is that what i should expect? Thanks.

    I got a 16g one for €370.

I believe that it is, yeah. I paid £236 so it's around the same. You'd get a 5-7% saving over the Google price.

Flubit know well that the phone is going to Ireland and they have no problem in taking your order and shipping it to Parcel Motel (their website says Irish customers should use Parcel Motel and they also provide the URL). Sometimes Google cancels orders on Flubit (which happened to me) but they'll just reorder it for you if that happens. I personally believe it's less hassle after having two orders cancelled previously by Google. I went with Flubit in the end to save hassle and to increase my chances.

I ordered it on March 26th and I got the phone on April 11th at 7am. The Easter weekend did slow things down a bit. In addition, within an hour of getting my phone, it broke. The display started showing artifacts and then went dead, but I suspect it could be the RAM. Not to worry, though, because the same could have happened if I ordered it from Google since Flubit never actually touch your order (it ships directly from Google). Nevertheless, I contacted Flubit immediately and requested an RMA. They were extremely helpful and got the ball rolling as quickly as I could provide the IMEI (which I didn't do until late Thursday evening). Flubit have to do the RMA since they're the ones that bought the device on my behalf from Google and it's not a bad thing because the RMA is an advance one and yet I don't have a hold on my card, that liability falls on Flubit and they have to have faith that I'll return the defective one in the time allowed. If I had bought the device from Google and it needed to be replaced, I'd have to start the RMA process and Google would have to put a hold on my card for the cost of the replacement until I returned the defective device (and of course, if they find the device is not defective after-all, they can technically yank the money from your account). Anyways, by Saturday (yesterday), they told me the replacement shipped and gave me a new tracking number, which indicates the shipping records began on Friday evening. All going well I'll have the replacement by Wednesday morning, bright and early.

    Thats great info, thanks.

I have requested a price from flubit, so I'm psyching myself up to pull the trigger.

Am I right in saying that flubit only uses paypal for their payments? Does that mean that it is necessary to do some fiddling with your paypal account in terms of adding Parcel Motel as an address or something? I recall that paypal wouldn't let me add a UK address to my irish paypal account when I wanted to send something to my friend a year or two ago.
I assume nobody has run into this kind of a problem yet?

Yup, that's what you need to do. It might also be a good idea to let PayPal bill you in the currency that the transaction is in, because PayPal's exchange rates are a rip-off. Look on the previous page, there's a quote of a post I made a few weeks ago about getting this done (you can't do it on the Flubit payment page because of the unique way they utilize the PayPal API).

You shouldn't have any hassle adding the address either.

16gb cost me €333 through flubit & I let PayPal set the conversion rate. It works out cheaper to leave your bank set the rate.

Regarding Flubit, whats the exact URL that needs to be entered?

    Thanks again.

I'm having problems adding the parcel motel address to paypal though.
I've tried loads of different permutations of the address, all give the same unhelpful error. Ive included the screenshot.
As you can see the "Ireland" country field is hard coded, that's the only thing that I can see being the problem. Anyone else encounter this?

Yep mine looked exactly like that. I think I may have put in NI after Newtownabbey. Flubit are used to this so they'll correct it anyway.

Did PayPal allow you to save it after putting in NI after newtownabbey? I haven't been able to save it at all yet. I'll try your suggestion tonight when i get home.

To get it to store the NI address go to flubit and hit the paypal button to buy, after the window pops open and you login to paypal there'll be a link to add/change the delivery address. After you do that it'll store on your paypal profile.

Is it the newer version with nubs and the new camera lens or the older version?

Is this the one you ordered??

That's weird, I've never had a problem entering a different country on PayPal. I've shipped things to the UK and New Zealand before no problem from eBay. Could it be to do with your card being verified? Hope you get it sorted.

EDIT: I see now that mine is the same when I try to add it via my "Profile" once signed in. I think it was already mentioned, but I'll confirm it - it will let you select a country if you add the address at the point where you're about to make a purchase. Once you add the address that way, it will still be stored on your account for the future, so it's all good.

I guess could always pay through paypal as a guest, thus not encountering any restrictions based on an account. I've yet to get any offer from flubit anyway to check what CSSE09 suggested.

Just so you know I used that method myself so you'll have no bother adding it to your account.

the newer one has the nubs and lens update but I dont think that is it, I remember seeing that pic before I got mine.... having said that it could be just the old pic the seller is using and has the newer ones in stock.
Maybe an email to the seller would help?

Placed order with flubit for £237.54 for 8GB.

    eeeeeeee

for some reason I'm more nervous about the whole parcel motel thing, even though I've heard nothing but good things about it. Hate the thought of my phone just sitting in a tin box on the side of the road all day!

Yeah I was the same. So as soon as it arrived I was straight up to collect it. I am sure it was 100 percent secure. Even though where I picked mine up it was after 9, pitch dark and just a couple of lights around the machine in a more or less deserted garage apart from one dodgy looking lad.

Keno, when did you order from Flubit? I ordered Wednesday week ago.

I ordered on the 28th of March. Some wait.

I think I'll have a nervous breakdown if it drags on longer than 2 weeks...

If you don't hear anything back by or after Thursday, give Fireworks Merchant a call and ask for an update (have your Flubit order number to hand). Calling them has gotten a few of us places.

The problem with Google is that they're absolutely sh1t when it comes to honoring orders. It can take anyone, you, me, Flubit, a different amount of time before the order is either shipped or cancelled. So if you give Fireworks a call, it'll maybe remind them that your Google order does need some more attention. That is, assuming you don't receive a shipping notification by Thursday evening. But be advised that the Fireworks call center closes at 16:30.

UPDATE: My replacement phone is in Dublin now. It'll most likely be checked into Parcel Motel by tomorrow morning/noon.

I rang Fireworks today. Said "oh that should have been with you today". Going to ring me back in the next hour. I am going to ring back before 16.30.

Even though the call center closes at 16:30, I had a call back from them near 18:00 over a week ago. This was when they told me Google cancelled the order and that they'd throw me £55 back and reorder, or issue a full refund.

Supposedly it was sent out on the 6th (despite me not getting any email). And obviously lost. So they are going to resend it and she said if I haven't received any word by Thursday to give them a ring and they will get it next day delivery and I will definitely have it on Friday. Also said this email is probably an automated one:

Unfortunately there is a backlog of orders with the supplier due to the excessive demand.

I am in constant contact with the supplier and will update you when I have a dispatch date.

At the moment I would expect your order to be dispatched at the beginning of next week

    Best regards

    David

Edit - I actually rang Flubit and not Fireworks. Might be the way to go.

See? At least they try. It's nice to have a company willing to make a decent effort for their customers these days.

If your delivery does get the next day treatment, it could be Friday evening or Saturday sometime before it reaches your locker. Though, you're in Dublin? It could be Friday, if so.

Yeah hoping to have it by Friday.

Hopefully that they seem on top of your order today bodes well for any orders placed this week, like mine.
