Yep, they told me this evening that orders flying through now and would likely have it mid next week.
Still surprised by the £55 goodie, can't imagine they've got that much margin.

WTF. I ordered on the 28th and have not even received one email from them, let alone the phone!

Is the next gen nexus 10 likely to come out this year?

I had to chase mine, Keno. Call them up on Monday and see where they're at.

If orders are flying out now, maybe there is a chance that those of us who got cancellation setbacks with Flubit might have them next week since they've reordered on our behalves.

Next gen, eh? Quite possibly. Google might reveal new stuff at I/O next month or maybe stick with the late year release schedule. There's a good chance that this year will see a new range but no guarantees.

Unbelievable, they just sent me a tracking number!!

Flubit couldn't have placed the order with Google before 7:30pm on Friday, and it's now on the way, and the £55 refund was back in Paypal Friday night too.

Only thing is that the Nexus was to be a surprise birthday present for the wife, due to the delays now almost 2 wks ago. As I had to spill the beans since about what it is, she was saying last night, "16GB sounds very small, I'm not sure I want it now", and she also knows about the £55 refund, so that's been since claimed too ;-)

Sure I'm getting the 8GB model. I uploaded 15,000 or so songs to Google Play (without any VPN trickery, mind) the other day and for me that's the biggest issue solved. I don't need to worry about tunes taking up all the room on the phone and with my data plan (coverage pending), I can listen to whatever whenever I want.

If your wife's concern is about music also, try the good ol' Google Play cloud. You're limited to 20,000 tracks but it's free and you can't say fairer than that, so long as it works.

    How did you do it?
I downloaded the Music Manager app and specified my directory. It just worked from there, no problems. I tried the same in the second half of year some time and it didn't work but it does now! No VPN, just my regular Irish Google Account and IP.

This is the URL to your library (which is presumably empty at present?):
    https://play.google.com/music

This is the URL to the music store (which shouldn't work if you're using an Irish IP currently):
    https://play.google.com/store/music

However, it didn't stop me from using the Music Manager app to upload to my heart's content.

Google also, since launching Play Music in the UK, does track matching. It's like what Apple first introduced with iCloud. If they have the song, they'll use the copy they have so it saves you uploading tracks that are already in their catalog. There is one caveat, though. If you have a low quality MP3 and it has a match, it will only stream a high quality one but it will not allow you to download the high quality one. In-fact, I uploaded a few hundred 128Kbps MP3s (yuck - but can't be helped for the minute), and when I went to download a few of them individually through the site, it gave me 160Kbps files. The problem is, my 128Kbps copy is higher quality than Google's 160Kbps copy (they destroyed it in other ways besides the bitrate). But streaming the same song was perfect, as I believe it streams 320Kbps copies. It's to be expected, though. A lot of people would simply abuse the system by uploading crappy quality MP3s in exchange for downloading high quality MP3s. But this only applies to songs they have in their catalog. If they don't have it, they just apply whatever one you upload, at whatever quality.

I get this when i try download it

The Google Play music player is currently available in select territories

    What happens when you visit:
    https://play.google.com/music

I wonder if it's because I've been using Elitemovil's I9000 custom ROMs with the Play Music app installed as standard on it...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,390 ✭✭✭Stench Blossoms

    Same thing.

I tried using tunnelbear there and it asked me to confirm using a US/UK credit card.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,243 ✭✭✭DECEiFER

    That never happened to me...

I remember using Unblock-us some time ago for Netflix and I took a few freebie tunes (which didn't require having a credit/debit card on file). Since then, IIRC, I've been able to see my library as normal even without Unblock-us or any type of VPN.

Regarding the Music Manager, does the link here work for you:
    http://support.google.com/googleplay/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1229970

Yeh that links work but if I click on the links in that page i get the same unsupported message.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,243 ✭✭✭DECEiFER

Alright then. Here's what you could try. TunnelBear to https://play.google.com/store/music and download any freebie tracks. They'll be put into your library so then check https://play.google.com/music before turning TunnelBear off to check it again.

EDIT: Aha, I see what you mean. They are verifying the region these days (they mustn't have done that in the good ol' days of earlyish 2012, when I first checked it out). So on that, just put in the PM address for your credit/debit card and that should allow you past. Then, as above, either pay for a song or download a freebie (I found Alice Cooper - No More Mr. Nice Guy for free, a nice live version of it). That should make it stick, hopefully.

Even with tunnelbear now I'm getting not available in your country.

    I'll figure it out eventually.

Edit: i signed it with a second email account I have and it's letting me into the music section.

Bah humbug. I got that after I got my Play Store back to the Irish version after my two failed Google orders. I can't go into any region-locked areas now whether I use a VPN or not anymore. It's specific to my account. It'll work if I use another but for your music purposes, that's not going to be much good. I don't know how to make it work again. Can you get to the Nexus 4 product page anymore while signed into your account? If not, then they've got ya! I don't know if setting the country to the UK in the Google Account settings will make a difference, haven't tried messing about with it since my order cancellations.
