26th. Still processing. People who ordered on and around the 20th are only getting theirs now. As long as it doesn't get cancelled, I suppose.

Ordered late night on 21st. Shipping notification 5 mins ago. Flubit told me today that shipping directly to PM in Belfast from Google in Dublin, so hopefully before weekend.

    Hey,

Want a Nexus 10 from the play store but a little worried about all the stories about light bleed, general build quality etc, Anyone have any experience sending either a N4 or N10 back to google if ordered via the parcelmotel route?

    Thanks.

The chip in the Nexus 10 cant handle the resolution of the screen. Wait for the next release.

Worst case scenario, very early next week. Do PM transit on the weekend?

Also, I knew Google Dublin were responsible for the orders but I had no idea it shipped from there, I always assumed it was from a warehouse in the UK.

EDIT: Just this second received this from an inquiry I made yesterday about when mine will ship to Fireworks Merchant Limited:
Your order will be dispatched tomorrow and I will update you with a tracking number then.

    I will keep you informed

    Best regards

The problem with the Nexus 10 is that it's WiFi only, which is fine if you're not planning to take it anywhere and everywhere. A better option, if you want to stick with a pure Nexus Android experience is to get the Nexus 7 3G. It's still quite an excellent tablet and for a price that won't be matched. If you don't need 3G, the WiFi Nexus 7 is cheaper than a bag of chips from your local chipper, or more importantly, cheaper than even the Nexus 4 (which is the same price as the Nexus 7 3G currently).

However, if you have your heart set on a 10", try another Android tablet (preferably with 3G if you need portable connectivity), if you want my advice. As I always say: F*ck Apple.

I would have always been in the anti apple camp too, but a refurbished 4th gen ipad is starting to draw me.

Have a galaxy note phone so I find the 7" too close to the size of the phone so would prefer 10". Would consider the Note 10.1 but there will probably be a new model of that during the summer knowing my luck (and price drop for the original) . Not too pushed about 3G as it will be mainly for use over wifi.

Hairy muff about the 3G. Personally I'd feel burned if I didn't have it because you never know when it'll home in handy, even if it's likely to be predominately used over WiFi. That's why I brought it up.

If you think about it, the 4th Gen iPad won't be long as Apple's front runner as sometime this year there will be a new one. So no matter what you buy, something new will be out soon. It's actually the same with the Nexus devices. By year's end, we'll be seeing a new lineup. Because it's so early into 2013, not a whole lot has come out yet - just merely announced or rumored. So my advice is to just get a tablet that has all the specs you reckon it needs and when a new one comes out, it's not going to make yours any worse unless you let it get to you. Either that, or wait until after the summer for all the new devices to come out.

The Nexus 4 isn't the best phone on the market and by the time all the new stuff comes out, it will fall behind in the line a bit more. But it'll still kick ass with anything you can throw at it today and into the next year or two.

yeh I know no matter what I go for will probably have a new model in 6 months or so, N10's price was a major attraction too but after reading too many bad reports I think. Would take a punt on it if it wasnt a song and dance to send it back if it wasnt right

You'd have a worse chance of getting Google to comply if you bought it directly from them. A user (I can't remember who) posted some pages back about Google sending out an email about multiple accounts being used to purchase the Nexus, which was the same email I received when Google cancelled both my orders with them. And he was only trying to get a new one sent out after already making the purchase!

If you buy with Flubit, you still send it to Google I think but at least they won't have access to your card, as the purchase went through Flubit.

That's a lazy thought process. No offence intended.

I bought the N10 on release. It's a fantastic tablet. With the exception of the Ipad it blows other tablets out of the water to be honest. Particularly it's screen.

Yes it's wifi only but most people who have tablets (and particularly anyone even considering a nexus one) are savvy enough to easily find a way around that issue (hotspot)

None taken! But what's lazy about it? Because I mentioned that 3G could be beneficial or my detest for Apple and its products, or both?

LOL not the apple one, I am with you there:D

Ah no, with the WiFi thing, I don't think a tablet should be disregarded if it doesn't have 3G.

If you have a decent data package on your phone, then hotspotting provides an easy cost effective approach. I've rarely needed it for my N10 tbh but on the rare occasion that I needed the hotspot worked easily and well, particularly without a need for an additional monthly cost/expense.

That's a good point. The only two carriers offering decent data allowances are 3 and Tesco. 500MB a month just doesn't cut it anymore! Even 1GB, come on! Hopefully with Tesco jumping on the 15GB boat, the other networks will follow. Look at what happened when Meteor did that unlimited texts thing for €20 a month back in the day. Soon enough, everyone was doing it.

I'm currently on 3 (prepay) but their coverage is a bit shaky in some areas. I've been thinking of moving to Tesco (prepay). I'm not a heavy enough user of the carrier's facilities to warrant a contract, especially now that you can use your phone to communicate with people over messaging services and Skype.

I agree. If 3 had a better quality coverage, they'd clean up.
I am currently on a legacy VF Bill Pay Contract that gives me 2GB a month. But My contract is up shortly and I will switch to 3 Pay which will be less than half my current deal (economic cut backs :)) I am in Dublin so 3 shouldn't be too big a problem in terms of coverage. I now have a VF phone for work anyway to cover coverage issues outside of Dublin, so it's all good.

I live in Limerick these days and the coverage is alright. I just did a speedtest on data and pulled just over 1Mb each way. Not brilliant but adequate enough for most things. But that's on a Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9000). It's when I go to the parents' house outside of Limerick that it gets pretty bad to zero coverage, and it's not a rural area, either.

If Tesco could provide decent coverage and better HSDPA (or HSPA+) speeds, brilliant, might as well switch. If not, I'll stick with 3.

The only issue we'll have with our Nexus 4 device is that every network in Ireland is set to launch LTE this year (assuming the red tape can be cut through). I'm not sure, but what all networks have HSPA+ in Ireland, if any, as the Nexus 4 does support that? HSPA+ is definitely a potential winner of regular HSDPA and if it was on my network, I'd get over the lack of LTE very quickly once the Irish rollout begins.

EDIT: If Wikipedia is anything to go by, it looks like Vodafone and 3 are the only two networks that have HSPA+ rolled out.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mobile_network_operators_of_Europe#Ireland

Meteor and O2 (and therefore Tesco) don't have it and probably never will if they're going with LTE.

When 3 raised the bar last year with "All you can eat" and Tesco jumped up to the challenge, I was disgusted to find out tonight that Meteor have a new "Special Offer" for All Network Texts, Calls, and 5GB data for a whopping €49 per month. Really? €49? I appreciate there's that extra piece in the pie for all network calls 24/7 compared to 3's weekend all network calls, but there's still only 5GB of data, and 3 only charge €20 per month. With Tesco it's €25 and you only get Tesco to Tesco calls. So why are Meteor effectively trying to insult us by charging double for less data and more calls? It's 2013. Data for a lot of people who own smartphones is more important than regular calls, unless it's a work phone. Their marketing department needs a reality check.

EDIT: My apologies, it's a billpay plan (Meteor). They better be willing to provide decent phones are a low price if they want to be taken seriously. Their prepay plans are a joke. 250MB with the maximum topup of €20 or €30.

That's another reason why I refuse to go onto a contract as you're basically paying a high premium for less in order to avail of a phone at cut-price. The Nexus 4 is cut-price and SIM free! For €20 a month I get what those €50+ plans offer, without paying back what is essentially a loan for the phone they gave you for less than the retail value.

There was a time in the past when a billpay customer could pay less per month for texting and calling, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore, at least not when some networks are offering unlimited pretty much everything you'd need for less than €30.

However, I see that €49 in terms of a billpay plan isn't as bad as I thought. Some people use their carrier's facilities to the max and for them, it's probably worth it. For people like me who don't, it's a shameful waste.

Also, eMobile's plans are slightly more generous than Meteor's at first glance. At least you can get 1GB for €30 a month if you're on prepay instead of 250MB on Meteor. Plus you get a limited amount of free minutes and messages to all networks if you go with eMobile.

My main reason for leaving vf bill pay to switch to three pay is €25 a month saving. I don't really use my full vf package except perhaps free vf to vf calls. But my work phone offers the same now so no biggie. But the second reason doe leaving is that on my last upgrade (galaxy nexus) they very sneakily removed free data roaming from my account (and many others).

I am sure there was something buried deep in the small text but to make such a headline change to a package on an upgrade should have been highlighted upfront. I wouldn't have upgraded had I have known that and would have bought sim free as data roaming was a huge plus for me. I vowed at the time that I'd be gone from vf for that and I intend to follow through on that
