Lot more of the capsule machines about these days, in shopping centres, would be excellent if they did roll it out the same way here. Swapping adds another social aspect to it.

Oh I know that there's a lot of them around but in Japan they are absolutely massive. They are everywhere. I think it could definitely work here but would need a good marketing strategy to raise awareness and to encourage trading (this part shouldn't be difficult, it's what Pokemon was built on).

They'd have to limit the run of 'mon to series of 20 or so so it doesn't become nursery crack.

On the other hand if they go live with over a thousand (including shinies and X/Ys) underneath tesco in maynooth could end up like Nino Brown's block...

    lol, yeah.

How great would it be, say, if they announced if you had your original receipt you can have the game again, but that;s the only proof. Right, I'll go grab my receipt for Mario Bro's from back in the 80's then... :-)

I'd be surprised if they implement a way of tying in past purchases to the service, but it would be nice if they did.

    well technical

the 1st mario bros game was July 14, 1983
before that mario refer as Jumpman in 1981 in 1st donkey kong game

donkey kong was baddie and Jumpman had rescue his girlfriend Pauline from donkey kong. when donkey kong 2 came out in March 7, 1983 Jumpman was baddie because kidnapped DK and DK son DK jr had r rescue his father from jumpman. All created by Shigeru Miyamoto

So.... You're suggesting that if you don't have the receipt but can answer some trivia questions you get access to Ninty's back catalogue on the VC? Fab!

Ninty should push stars registration as proof of ownership and reward you when the game hits VC - it encourages you pay that extra 5 quid in Gamestop to get the game New.

wii u has something over PS4 wii u is backwards compatible for previous console wii games,

Sony Clarifies that their PS4 wont be backwards compatibles ps3, ps2 and ps1

News: PlayStation 4 Not Backwards Compatible With Retail or Digital Games

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80i_6UnnsRg

Isn't the Wii U's backwards compatibility pretty lame though? I much prefer the HD collections you can get (when they're done properly of course, I'm looking at you, Silent Hill Collection! :pac:). These might be the words of a fanboy, but if Nintendo announce a Mario Galaxy collection with both games on one disc, touched up with improved resolution and better assets, I'd go out and buy a Wii U for it tomorrow.

I went the route of keeping my last gen console (PS2) under the TV when the PS3 replaced it. Despite getting component cables to improve things when I got an HDTV, I never really turned it on because I played most of the games to death already. If (when) I get a Wii U, the only Wii games I genuinely want to play on it are the two Mario Galaxies, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Sin and Punishment 2.

TL, DR - backwards compatibility is a nice idea on paper, but (imo at least), the desire to revisit all but the absolute classics of the previous gen is almost non existent when the next gen gets going properly.

Its just nice to have for those who's budget wont stretch to a load of new titles for new consoles straight away. Presumably though, most people still have their original console they were previously playing the games on.

Even those cunning geniuses at Nintendo, Sony et al. haven't got a self destruct for consoles in proximity to the next gen...........yet. My launch day Wii wimpering to itself at the thought of when I finally get a Wii U.

Thanks to being able to copy all my games from disc to hdd, my wii is still plugged in and happily residing beside his younger brother!

You could buy the ZombiU pack (which also includes the controller) and Monster hunter separately for a tenner more from the same store, the MH3 bundle is not great value

Not to mention currys still have the controller for 19.99 to 22.99 euros, if you get the regular pack in one of the sub €300 deals

Hey Wampy - you were talking about getting a WiiU Controller with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for WiiU - do you have a source for that? Closest I could find is the offer Capcom in the US had for getting a Wii Classic Controller Pro with preorders of Ultimate, which isn't quite the same thing.

Note : Wikipedia doesn't count as a source.

Cool... although they're leaving it quite late to confirm - it ships in 3 Days and there's no mention in any of the online stores I've looked at.... is it a specific pack or retailer, or are all launch copies going to contain it?

Just discovered the Wii-U demo-unit in Gamestop on Henry St. The controller is very comfortable, but the analog stick was banjaxed, so it made playing NSMB-U pretty interesting.

Anyone know the best place to buy a Wii U at the moment?

    Some questions too...

Can I play every game on the touch screen (other than ones that require Wii controller obviously).

Are most games out now for it playable on the screen controller?

What are the best FPS type games to get or Nintendo games to get if I pick one up?

Is it comfortable to play for long periods on touch controller? Is it as a good as a PS3/Xbox 360 controller to play with?

Asda has the best deal (265 sterling for 32gb nintendoland bundle and MarioU) but requires some jiggery pokery to get delivery (Parcel Motel is your best bet)

Amazon have a good deal too with same console bundle (but no MarioU) for 249 sterling but with no messing around or uncertainty

for B& M shops... You will pay more, much more. Gamestop had a flash deal a few weeks ago...

Not every game supports off-screen play. But quite a few do. To my knowledge the vWii (virtual Wii for backwards compatibility) doesn't support it.

I think BlackOps 2 is the only proper Fps on it. Dark Knight seems to like it a lot. Legend has it it runs smoother than the Xbox version. ZombiU is mor of an FPSYP (where the s ain't shoot and yp is your pants)

I get old man claw hands playing it for too long. I get that with all controllers though. It's light enough and the width makes it more comfortable for your arms over long periods. Your hand positions are the same as any other controller I've held with dual triggers - the underside is molded like a regular controller - but your hands are further apart. There are a few shops that have demo units, seek one out. Or hint to Wampy that you have exclusive information on Nintendo release dates, he'll invite you round and you can try his!

    Not according to Digital Foundry!

    From the article:
"The frame-rate variance is such that the PS3 game feels generally smoother, while the 360 release feels like an entirely different game in the more demanding levels. Bearing in mind the commonalities in hardware design between Wii U and Xbox 360, we can't help but feel somewhat disappointed that Black Ops 2 under-performs so noticeably."

The online portion is far smoother on the wii U than ps3, as soon as I played the wii U version I traded in the ps3 version as it felt really sluggish and unplayable, I am not sure but it possibly could be due to the fact a lot less people play online on the wii U version
