Played winter league match sunday. Our team won but i was beaten. I was giving 17 shots in my match but i'm not blaming them. The guy i played against just had a great day! I was 2 over par for 15 holes where he eventually beat me 4and3 :(

These things happen. Looking forward to another go at a high handicapper this sunday :)

92 strokes in Mallow yesterday- 1 scratch thrown in(par 3 4th), played well enough overall, happy with staying commited in the hole having hit a few stray tee shots. Is 32 a good putting count?

    sure is!

    sure is!

It's relative to how many greens you hit, I would look at putts per GIR and then seperately look at how many putts you take after chips/pitches close to the green. I am averaging about 30 putts a round but hitting only 1/2 greens per round I think I could get that number down if I improved chipping/pitching!

You're right,I wouldn't have had too many GIRs but my chipping is handy enough. One three putt-I just thought I couldn't have putted any better without making anything over 12 foot...

Had my 1st day back today after a forced layoff with a back injury. 38 points with a scratch on 15 after my ball was lost by the green, no idea where it went one of those shots that just seemed to disappear into the void.

Our 3 ball had 41, 41, and 38. Great fun when everyone is playing well

Good to see you back playing and the back not causing you problems.

I had 31 points in the Spring League today for 13 holes. Finished with 40 for the 18. Highlight was 5 pars in a row from the 5th to the 9th inclusive. New swing finally coming together.

23 points for 12 today, following on from 24 last week.
First 18 comp is next weekend...argh, panic!

Played crap! 13 over for 18 holes with shanks on 1, 2, 5, 7, 12, 15 and 16. Ruined my day! Stupid bloody shanks are worse than a virus

Played poor yesterday, 14 over on a calm day. Enniscrone is the type of course that if your game is any bit off you won't succeed. My irons and putting let me down, driver was good for a change. Finished with an 87 (Par 73).

    33 points. Always next week

First round and card #1 at the new club, Grange Castle today.
Cracking day for it, so I decided to have a 99. :(:)
A couple of disaster holes (where double digits weren't far away).
30 points off my, soon to be replaced, society HC of 19.

I'll take that after last weeks disaster.
New course, driver and putter and still no practice in 2013.
Sore arms from pulling up for over 4 hours though :):)

Had the company of a fellow boardsie out there, cheers Spacecoyote.

A decent test from the back sticks AJ, the course was in decent knick yesterday. I would say your first card has 18 all over it:D

24 for 12 holes this morning - on the positive side, there were no scratches in there and it was better than the 21 of two weeks ago. I just couldn't buy a putt at all today with about eight three putts and one four putt!!! I need to do something, and quickly!! It was a cracking day though and had great fun with the two lads I was playing with.

Roll on Captain's drive-in next week...

Well done, sounds like you played very well tee to green, get the putting sorted and you will be flying, well done again.

Ok, i am now one of those that only show up here to gloat about a good round.

I had a howler last week that i could barely bring myself to talk about never mind write it here....20 points for 18 holes off 12 in blessington lakes, and that was with a par on the last.

Yesterday was a different story, 39 points for 18 holes off 12 in roundwood.

    80 strokes
2 birdies (missed a 10 footer for my first ever eagle)
    7 pars
    7 bogeys
    2 doubles

Played well on the front, without burning it up. But the back 9 was possibly the best golf i have ever played. 22 points and only 2 over par.

So after a disastrous range session during the week I played a 3-ball rumble yesterday morning. Off my own ball I shot 34 points off my new 24 handicap which included 3 scratches to give me a total of 96 strokes in Blarney. My best ever is 95 so I really should have gotten it yesterday.

The big sickener is that 2 of my 3 scratches were on holes that I have 2 shots!!

    Can't complain though with 5 Par's:D

Not great this weekend, 29 points off 8 in Donabate GC. Disappointing after last weeks enjoyable +4 gross.

Hit 1 Fairway! I'd love to blame my new driver but the achilles heel swing fault was persistent. Everything straight left!

5 Blanks, managed 9 pars though, and parred all the par 3s, usually a good sign but not on Saturday.

Chipping was good again this week, 6/9 up and downs, last week 7/9.

    Putting was ok-ish, 31 putts.

    Ssbob.

Will break 95 soon so. I think you know this, but with 2 shots on hole. You should be totally risk averse. As in 6 iron off tee., don't try carry anything etc Anyway maybe that is not valid to how you lost shots.

    Anyway 90 by summer so.

    Best of luck

No problem Aaron. Was a cracker of a day for golf. You've definitely got the game to get the score well down from 99. A couple of nasty little blemishes, but they'll disappear with some time & practice.

Driver & Putter were working very nicely for you, that Secret Purchase Mizuno of yours will definitely pay off!

Can't say that I fared much better than yourself, taking 90 strokes, for a score of 30 points off 12. Had a great start, but a weak end to the day. 37 putts and some rust to shake off all through my game, but I won't complain, was only my 3rd full 18 this year, so have to expect a bit of rustiness.

Look forward to getting out for a game again and with any other GC boardsies that fancy a round!

First game off my new 10 handicap. 31 points with 2 scratches or 86 in terms of strokes. 42 points won I think and 39 points in my category. Two 3 putts from inside 10 feet and fighting a very bad hook off the tee all day.

Need to improve and quickly but went for a sneaky bucket of balls on the range straight afterwards and have a couple of things to work on that will hopefully see an improvement. However, if she finds out I'm sneaking to the range after my round I'll have two more balls to smack about on the range.

Nothing worse than shanks but you must be fairly handy to be only 13 over after 7 shanks??

Disappointing few weeks after the good form I showed before Christmas got me a 1 shot reduction in handicap.

Singles 15 hole competition in Monkstown on Saturday. 26 points, 13 handicap.

    1 birdie
    3 pars
    6 bogeys
    4 doubles
    1 scratch

    8/11 FIR
    6/15 GIR
    3-putts: 4!

Going to spend time on my short game over the next few weeks. 3-putts are costing me.

    3 bogies

    12 pars

    Current handicap 8.8

    Everything clicked on the day
