Having a Central City Red Racer IPA, I've heard alot about this beer/brewery and it was worth the wait, finally something that makes use of the fantastic hops they have in North America, lots of caramel malt that gets destroyed by lashings of bitter grapefruit and orange pith. It's a pity they don't get more of these BC beers in Calgary because CC and Philip's have to be the best Canadian breweries I've encountered so far.

Great beer. Managed to get a can of it from a brewer visiting from Canada. Wouldn't mind getting my hands on some more.

finally got some bottles of Tom Creans from Blackrock Cellar yesterday, had only had a few pints before, lovely beer

Had a couple of beers from Widmer Brothers last night. First up was their Hefeweizen, which was really nice. Quite different from what you'd normally associate with a Hefeweizen, quite fruity.

Next up was Brrr Seasonal Ale, strong blackberry aromas and taste but it was quite lacking in mouthfeel I thought. Reading the general description of it seems to be a total odds with what I experienced. Nice enough, but not as nice as the Hefeweizen.

3 IPAs from them up next so I'm looking forward to them.

The Fran Well are brewing more Jameson Stout today according to their Facebook. Probably be sometime in the summer when it'll go on sale again, but this has made me very happy!

Shepherd Neame Double Stout is tasty.

Just beginning to tuck into a Flying Dog Wildeman Farmhouse IPA.
First sip reminds me of Metalman IPA, which I think is really similar to a Weiss bier.
Strange taste from it... Initially sweet but quite a strong tang of an aftertaste. Almost a herb-like aftertaste.

Picked up a few Dungarvan Helvick Gold's earlier in Superquinn. Lovely stuff.

This sounds amazing, I have never even heard of this before. Will definitely have to keep an eye out for it.

Super Valu on Aston Quay are currently selling cans of Abbot Ale and Old Speckled Hen for 99c each, which is not bad at all. So I'll be starting on those tonight and after that maybe moving on to some Nøgne Ø if I feel rich enough.

Poor selection in Dunnes, so picked up Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted and Shiehallion

I'm starting to get used to the 8 Degrees Sunburnt Irish Red.

Looking forward to tasting Westmalle Tripel for the first time later tonight.

Duvel again. What a solid beer.

Having a few Humming ales with my Indian.

Humming and Porter are my two favourite Anchors, I'd say.

Westmalle Triple is the best expensive treat I've given myself in forever.

    75cl bottles FTW.

Grabbed a bottle of Obsidian Stout by Deschutes from work for tonight, which apperently is the worlds best dry beer of 2012 (World Beer Awards) and the 2013 best dark beer in the 5.8 - 6.9% category (International Brewing Awards), can't wait :D

having a rogue yellow snow, just had a juniper ale and dead mans ale, both were brilliant, but the yellow snow is incredible

Leann Follain on draught tonight followed by a bottle of Dungarvan Coffee and Oatmeal Stout. There was no comparison for me. Leann Follain is infinitely better. Dungarvan did achieve a coffee tone in the beer but LF is so much richer, smoother, more complex. By far my favourite stout.

Had Brewdog's black lager, Zeitgeist, last night.

It's lovely stuff, the best example of this style that I've tasted.

Was in Glasgow over the weekend and took a trip to the Brewdog bar. Tried the Libertine Black Ale, which was nice enough, tasted closer to a porter though. Also tried Tokyo (18.2%! Got 1/3 of a pint) which was very enjoyable, bit like a rich dessert though, couldn't have too much.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

After that give yourself the ultimate treat - Westvletern XII. Oh yeah.

In other news, I have a new default beer - Weihenstephaner Vitus. Great beer, and included in the Tesco 4 for €9 offer, saving a fair bit. Lovely.

BTW, 75cl bottles of beer are usually more expensive per liter due to duties etc.

I got talking to a man about that beer last weekend! I'll have to organise a trip to Belgium sometime soon.

Tried brewdog's Punk IPA and 5am Saint there this weekend.

Both were very nice, though pretty expensive for what they were. The Punk IPA isn't even listed for sale on their site.

Both would be brewdog's more popular beers. I love them both but I have (excuse the expletives) horrible ****s after 2 bottles of 5AM saint. Must have an intollerance to something in it. Never the same with any other beer.

Cass Fresh another watery beer. Think I will stay away from tasting beer for the next week.
Found a brew bar near by and had their Dunkel, Pilsner and Summer Pale ale which have been the nicest beers u have had so far.

(Very) good off licences will have it. I didn't need to go to Belgium anyway. It's a great beer.

This week I drank a fair amount of beer.

I had some Leffe blonde, erdinger, paulaner, westmalle dubbel, and I even had a glass of guinness. First time having guinness, wouldn't be too bothered about drinking it again.
