deals are selling Milano's pizza sauce for €1.49 a tin.

    What's it like?

1 tin of tomato soup (Lidl's Bulwark the best budget flavour for me)
1/2 (drained) tin of those Aldi mixed bean. Simmer/Microwave to hot.
Add 5-6 chopped up slices of Lidl's Espana chorizo
Garnish with some grated parmisan or cheddar
    - gives two servings of a tasty rustic Italian style soup in minutes, great instant comfort food this time of year too!

Not sure if this has been posted already but:

Mobile phones, GPS, tablets, bluetooth devices etc. If you have multitude of devices that can charge via USB these are great. Best of all they are just €1.36 delivered.

Dealz also have a good selection of Nandos marinades and sauces at the moment for €1.49

If your slim and like wearing red dresses you might like that Lidl "Special Flakes" are €1.75 per 500g
This compares well to the Tesco price for Special K of €3.00 (a special offer price).

The Kellog product has approx 60% more sugar and fat than the Lidl counterpart.

I'm saying: don't buy the pesto in the glass containers on the ordinary shelf - it is cheap and nasty. Buy the fresh pesto in the fridge. In my local Aldi, it is beside the bagged salads.

Got this the other day. It's amazing.
    Thanks for the tip!

gardening and builders gloves in Dealz for 1 euro 49 cents.

Also handy for anyone cycling to work on a cold windy morning and who doesnt want frozen fingers.

These are 2 euro-2 euro 50 cents in most bulders providers.

So thats a bargain right there.:)

Where does Aldi hide its weekly vegetable specials on its website? Can't find them at all!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 839 ✭✭✭bluecherry74

The Aldi veg specials are on the homepage, scroll down a bit and they're usually third or fourth photo down. Click through to see what they have.

Big thanks to whoever recommended the Aldi fresh pesto. Holy wow, it's good. I don't think I've ever had store bought pesto where I could actually see and taste the parmesan.

From Aldi - they have delicious individual chocolate desert pots for 59c for those evenings when you want to treat yourself. Nice big pot and lovely flavour.

From Tesco - I can't get enough of their frozen bags of chargrilled Mediterranean veg. I think they're €2 for a decent sized bag that has 3 or 4 servings. Lovely just on their own from the oven, and also good used in pasta sauces, lasagne etc.

Oh, thanks, bluecherry74, found them! And those chocolate pots sound yum. Must try the grilled veggies.

    For OP et al,

This is a good thread but as it gets bigger it'll be more difficult for people to find these deals. I reckon a shared google xls that people can post to and cross out when deals are expired. It works well for the likes of the 1,000 mile challenge in the Athletics forum. Anyway, my 2 cent on it ;)

Picked up some portabello mushrooms in the reduced veg section at Tesco (always make a bee line there first to see what will inspire my dinner) for 99c down from €2.15, going to melt some tesco mozarella on top (60c-ish).

Also enjoying a ginger nut biscuit (39c a packet, tesco) with my tea as I type!

For those of you that were looking for the jar of minced Garlic in the euro stores I saw some today in the one beside the Abbey St. Luas stop. They had about 10 jars of it.

that disgusting filling of rejected powder from tea leaves. #ick
    not that old chestnut again

Given that most tea is sold as tea bags it's unlikely they'd have enough dust

but it is true that the surface to volume ratio is different so may loose more volatiles

But if you go tea leaves then you need a tea strainer.

Cream crackers are a handy substitute for the times when you run out of bread 'cos they keep forever and you can still make some sandwiches with them.

I have removed a lot of off-topic posts, if people want to use the spreadsheet then use it, but post the item to the thread for people who dont want or cant use the spreadsheet. I think that's the fairest option at the minute. As time goes on we can change that if need be.

Use the report function if any issues rather than posting on thread please :)

I didn't like it - it turned my black jeans into charcoal jeans. I like the Lidl liquid detergent though.

Yes. I use the Almat tablet one all the time. Can be used down to 15C No problems whatsoever :)

Compiling a list of things to buy from Aldi next time I'm near one... very interesting thread.

One item I noticed in Dealz was Simple Shampoo / Conditioner for €1.50, when I'm fairly sure it's around €4 in Boots and can be hard to find elsewhere. Good if you have sensitive skin.

Although it seems to be fine for colours, for whites I don't find it great.I've started using Daz/Persil for my whites and the Aldi stuff for everything else.
