Will require some modification to get them to fit properly! :(

I miss my projectors, they were class without blinding anyone else :)

I'm changing the VANOS solenoids on mine tomorrow along with replacing 2 of the jack-point blocks. Hope the solenoids are as easy as I think they are ....

Did this today :) It took me longer to take off the engine cover etc. without breaking clips in order to get at the solenoids than it took to do the job!

    Parts off:

    photo2vbz.jpg

You can see the hole where one solenoid came out of, the other was just down and to the left of that.

    Old and new:

    Both out:

Dead passengers in my air filter housing:

As I had them off, I gave each part a wash with degreaser and then sealed with 303 Aerospace Protectant. It gives an excellent shine aswell as making it very hard for dust to cling:

All back together, cleaned and sealed:

From this job, I can see that there will be a huge amount of work involved when I do the coils and spark plugs but I look forward to it :D

Took out the factory stereo from the wife's corolla, and put in a aldi mp3 / usb stereo that was sitting idle in the shed. 30 Facia adapter, an iso adapter and an old stereo. Mrs very happy.

Did some tidying and prepping for heading to the woods tomorrow. :)

Discovered that the plastic splash guard under the engine, while pathetic and offering no real protection, did actually serve a purpose. This is what the engine bay looks like after heading out with a few lads over Christmas :o

    whoops.jpg

After checking oil and topping up the washer fluid, I checked all wheel nuts (1 was ready to depart - other 23 were grand and tight  ) attached the D-shackles to the front, put on the seat covers, checked tyre pressures.

Then set about tidying the under-floor storage in the boot as it had become a right mess :o

    boot.jpg

    Now much easier to find stuff and have;

    Foot pump
2-ton trolley jack (no use for the Shogun but handy to have anyway)
    Bottle-jack
    Cross brace
Torque-wrench (don't know why, but it fit neatly so I left it)
    3-ton recovery strap
    Light tow-rope
    Spare rated shackles
    First-aid kit
    HD Jump leads
    Light ratchets and straps
    5L spare washer fluid
    Spare fan & air-con belts
    Spare sump-plug & washer
    Spare oil filter

Also have enough room on top of the recovery strap to fit a spare 5L can of oil

Have screwdrivers & spare bulbs in a side pocket, and high-viz jacket and work gloves in the boot door pocket. :D

Think that'll do for now :)

    :D

    Better safe than sorry ;)

Plus its space that doesn't really get used so it's not impacting on the normal load area. :)

Nothing very exciting, just a wash that was badly needed:)

    Before:

    picture.php?albumid=2179&pictureid=14386

    picture.php?albumid=2179&pictureid=14387

    After:

    picture.php?albumid=2179&pictureid=14391

    picture.php?albumid=2179&pictureid=14392

Now to see if the Extra Gloss Protection is still beading well after the abuse it's been getting there will be a beadophiles post in a min

Took the engine and gearbox out of the race car today, the engine is off down to Bob in DI Motorsport in Kilcoole for a set of rings and some tlc. Have it booked in to be mapped with Joe Power and it'll be on the track on March 1st :-D

Added two layers of sound deadening to my boot and seems to have done a good job at blocking road noise from there, would also like to add more material to engine bay and around the front wheel arches seems to be a lot of noise coming though to the cabin from there also.

Hope to get the EGR cleaned as I've never done it, just from reading on here seems like a good thing to do on a diesel, mines a 2.0Tdi has anyone seen a good dummies guide, from start to finish.

Pics and what did you use?

Used 2 sheets of Stp Ak10, cut out around the spare etc and put the second sheet above, basic enough but cuts a bit (2db) out which is noticable.

The plugs and coils are actually pretty easy. That whole plastic panel that covers the rear of the engine comes off, its only held in with a few clips and plastic screws.

Toyota own Daihatsu as far as I know.

Toyota owns half of Daihatsu I believe but Daihatsu are a huge engine manufacturer. Many of the small Toyota engines where in fact designed by Daihatsu. The current 1.0 3 cylinder being the most common

I find that most of the earlier Japanese vehicles all use very similar designs though.

In July 2011, on an exercise in the Curragh, we finished up and route marched to the camp. It was fairly cold, at the camp were cars with a sharp hard frost

I would imagine you would get a lot better value in an Octavia.

I would as well but there is really nothing out there at the moment. I missed one in Tipperary last week.
