Is the double credit on online topups still going? Their site is a bit confusing:

    http://www.lycamobile.ie/en/specialoffer

    says
    Double credit with Auto Top-up

and when you click into that offer:

    http://www.lycamobile.ie/en/Double-credit-with-Auto-Top-up

    it says
Offer: Customers will receive additional credit every time they Top-up online or use Auto Top-Up. Auto Top-up is only available to customers after they have registered their details online, Topped-up on one previous occasion and elected to AutoTop-up their account.

So does this mean that even your first online topup gets double credit or only your second and subsequent?

    :o

Yup any topup is doubled even of you don't sign up for the auto topup thing... Just topup and they send double the amount right to your fone its great!

According to this page texts and internet are free without needing to buy the bundle. So am I right in saying that a €5 topup will give you a balance of €10 and you can keep using the internet and texting until your call costs dwindle the balance to 0? And therefore if you are not much of a talker but a big texter your fiver will go a very long way.

Yeah I ported over there about 2 weeks ago and cant complain. Coverage is a lot better than Meteor. Data speeds a bit slow in the evenings but fine for browsing. Tethering is allowed and you get 9gb. Even if they stop the double credit its still good value at the €9.

Yes but I think without the bundle you only get so much data per day and its expensive if you go over so your better getting the 9 euro bundle

I was going to port to Lyca until I saw that people were having trouble texting emobile customers. Most of my family are on emobile so that's a killer for me. Is it still the case?

ya was looking at that myself it's kind of confusing, from what i can gather if you sign up today and topup you will not get the double credit because it will be your 1st topup,

anybody can confirm if you topup for the first time will they give double credit ??

Ye might want to check out this thread first (posts #6 and #7).

I'd be waiting for the January update before moving to Lycamobile.

The reason I was having trouble is because the 2 numbers I was trying are 087 ported to emobile and meteor and that's a screw up with the old 087 numbers, they have the meteor one fixed for me now and are working on the emobile one as we speak

Think ill try them, ill buy 50 in credit which will be doubled that should last me a good few months with the bundles, i can always port back over if they hike up the prices to much.

Another pedantic question from me... :o

Does anybody know for sure about this...

If you topup by €20 and get another €20 bonus credit then buy the €29 bundle leaving €11 credit on the account - is that €11 bonus credit that will expire at the end of the month or is it paid credit with no expiry?

Somebody else mentioned that it did not expire but I don't know if this was authoritative...

    Thanks.

How long does the porting over usually take ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,564 ✭✭✭positron

    Wondering the same.

I put in a request port a tesco number (following various advice here, entering number as 353xxxx etc) and I got a reference number straight way, but this was yesterday evening around 5, and right now the phone is still on my old network (Tesco).

Your bonus credit expires after the 30 days, but your hard cash remains in your account.

Is anyone having a problem with data? Mine seems to be working ok but my wife's wont connect. Contacted CS who said the data was down in Ireland at the moment. Not sure if he was just fobbing me off seeing as mine works.

When mine wasn't working for 2 days turning air plane mode on and off fixed it. Give it a try anyway.

I still can't send texts to Emobile or Meteor two weeks after they said it'd be sorted in 24 hours, so for more than three of the four weeks I bought the bundle for, I haven't been able to text the only networks I want to text. Will be porting back next week.

Hmm I can text meteor no problem but emobile seems to be a problem, when I was having trouble texting one meteor number they sorted it out quickly for me...

Just off the phone with customer services too regarding picture messages. I was also told that they do not support picture messaging . Maybe we got the same dumbass.

Anyone know of a way around this through an app or whatever?
