Awh 8 weeks DQ, they must be so cute now! Most vets will do a special deal if you're getting more than one dog vaccinated or chipped which is great. :)

Stench Blossoms, that happens a fair bit. Sometimes people forget to register or sometimes the dog goes to a new home and the owner isn't changed etc.

    Urgh.

I'm feeling uncharacteristically misanthropic this week. I've been taking it out on my character rather than on the world though. Going to send the fcuker to Russia to have some potentially dodgy brain surgery. Bit of body horror inflicted on a fictional person should get it out of my system...

*hugs for bluewolf* If you want them after reading that...

I think I need them after that :)
    big non infectious hugs xx

I think the same elves that sew my clothes tighter in the wardrobe are the ones responsible.

Had great craic at the quiz last night with a bunch of boardsies. I did drunkenly tell rick o Shea that he's a ride though :/

One of my friends found this absolutely beautiful dog (can't remember the breed) but brought it to the vet to see if he could find the owner. The dog was chipped but there was no info on the chip.

So sad to think that someone went to the effort of chipping the dog but then someone messed up along the line.

Same thing happened with my Mum's yorkie. Found her. Tried everything to find the owner. Eventually went to the vet and there was a chip but no info.

I think what happens is that pure-bred puppies are provided with a chip their new owners can register, but some owners don't bother (it costs money)

I'd say teachers can guess within a few weeks of getting their first years which ones will end up pregnant before the Leaving Cert.
It's funny, everyone thought that I would have been the absolute last person in my year to get pregnant. You just never know!

Haha I wasn't really the quiet one but academic, good student, prefect, nice area, good family, not a mad drinker etc. I have come across people I was in school with out and about with the little lady and have been told they thought it was just a rumour :P Saying that I was 18 and finished school when I had her, so it could have been worse. ;)

How long will you stay over there, D?

My contract is a year, 4 months into it now. However ideally they would like people to stay longer for continuity. Have been toying with the idea, will think seriously about it after Christmas.

You know what's worse than getting a wisdom tooth?

Getting two at the same time :(

Oh I have one - Getting 1 and having the worst pain ever 2 days before your wedding and a big swollen face, getting tabs from the dentist to get you through the day, having a reaction to the tablets and spending the day before your wedding projectile vomiting, going to the care doc at 10.30pm the night before your wedding with your husband to be and getting an injection in the ass, which then becomes subject of some jokes during the speech. Being so ill you can't remember your wedding BUT you do have pics of you on your wedding day with your eyes rolling in your head. :(
You're right DQ, it's so easily preventable. It cost about 30-40 euro per year to get your dog vaccinated against potentially fatal diseases like parvo and there are still people out there who just don't bother vaccinating, it makes me mad. You also wouldn't believe the amount of people who just don't know about vaccinating their dogs.. :(

Parvo is a horrible disease, I've seen what it can do and it ain't pretty. And there's actually no cure, you can only treat the symptoms and hope the animal is strong enough to fight off the infection.

    This is really interesting

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8572826/ns/health-pet_health/t/still-vaccinating-your-pet-every-year/#.UKY1BeSUPJI

My own older boy came to foster with me and developed parvo within 2 days - he very nearly died, we were given no hope at all. He's perfectly healthy now, although the sickness and the fact he had to stay indoors for so long after means his socialisation wasn't what it should be so he tends to worry about new situations.

To be registered with the IKC they have to be chipped, but I'm 99% sure it doesn't cost anything to register the chip once it's done. It didn't cost me with either of mine. I could be wrong and I'm sorry if I am, but I really really don't think it costs anything to register the chip.

I do think that people don't realise that they have to reg the chip, I have heard more than one person ask about tracing the chip to find their lost dog as if it's a GPS tracker!

Briefly convinced myself I had TB this morning. I must have bitten my lip when I was asleep so there was a tiny bit of blood on my mouth and I looked in the mirror while I was coughing and was like "Great, it's Moulin Rouge all over again".

Health and wellbeing week. Got a free skip rope which has some kind of counter thing on it very fancy. Given a booklet about health and nutrition with it.
Then saw another one trying to sign us up. Sounded ok until I saw the sign beside her about "carbs are very important. We should eat 6 portions of carbs a day such as cereal or pasta or bread"
LOL yeah afk eating 6 bowls of pasta and crying myself to sleep

I know I'm eating crap at the moment but I'm not going to start telling people it's healthy...

Of course, the problems arise with people's differing ideas on what a portion is...

Some people shouldn't be allowed to reproduce.

I sincerely hope somebody reported this to the relevant authorities

For reals. Bluey was all set to rip some guys carrying a food-pyramid poster asunder in Galway. But they saved themselves by saying, "It's not really you are what you eat, it's more you are how you sleep."

They were pushy vegans. I have no idea where sleep was coming into it.
