Shocking result for Alonso. Vettel didn't make it back to the pits?! Out of fuel?

Could be like Lewis in Barcelona and he starts from the back of the grid!

That would certainly make for a very interesting race tomorrow if that were to happen! He doesn't look happy with whatever is after happening.

If Sebastian stoped because of a lack of fuel, it will be a penalty coming his way...

May not be so bad if Vettel has to start from the pit lane!

Ah I doubt it, I'd say its the alt issue again rather than fuel

I'm not sure they would ask him to stop if just the alternator went. I didn't hear the radio message, but as soon as it happened he put it in neutral and coasted to a stop. Possible gearbox problem?

If I was Mark Webber I'd refuse to wear RedBull's stupid numbered hats.

Hopefully we'll get a good race tomorrow with Hamilton up there

Still a good result for Vettel with Alonso in 7th, some sort of problem for Vettel might be good for the championship battle

    Trouble for Vettel?

Will probably get away with no penalty knowing RB.

    Jake Humphrey just tweeted...
Gary Anderson on it - was just now the only man to grab Christian Horner...CH said fuel issue and we'll find outcome 'shortly' #bbcf1

That would explain Sebastian not looking so happy whilst he stood by his car. Maybe it might be just a fuel pump issue and they had enough for a sample for the FIA

Hope waiting for this decision isn't the most exciting part of the race weekend

Strange the delay to make a decision, with the team telling him to stop is not just the equivalent of stopping because of low fuel and a grid penalty, must be something a bit unusual... and engine related if Renault involved

Well it's past 10pm now in Abu Dhabi. Hopefully we will hear soon something soon.

I'd say that Vettel will be forced to start at the back. If it's taken this long its pretty clear that they are going to give him a penalty...just a matter of how big a penalty!

    Uh oh....
Vettel's garage door has just been dramatically closed...without Seb's car in it. #drama #vettel #bbcf1

Back of the grid for Seb but he'll start in the pitlane so that they can change him onto the prime tyres i would imagine

Yeah it'll be very interesting to see what happens because when Jo referred the matter to the stewards with Seb only having 850ml in his tank disqaulification from quali was the standard penalty and should have been handed down pretty quickly.

In saying that we had a similar wait until we found out that Lewis was being put to the back of the grid in Barcelona

The Abu Dhabi GP has just got a lot more interesting. Alonso will have his work cut out with the lads in front of him, & I'd still tip Vettel to finish strong here, possibly even a podium

Should make the race a bit exciting tomorrow!!

13 point championship deficit would mean that Alonso would have to finish on the podium to retake the title lead (with Vettel out of the points) so far from a foregone conclusion that he'll be leading the championship but I would be surprised if he isnt there or thereabouts tomorrow. The race pace of the Ferrari is very impressive and with two DRS zones I would say that they have geared themselves knowing that they will need to overtake cars in the race because of their poor quali pace.

Im very interested to see how Seb moves through the field. As Alonso will testify it can be pretty difficult to overtake in Abu Dhabi!

Sweepstakes on where Vettel will finish tomorrow? He'll get to 7th/8th unless other teams have a lot of unreliability I reckon.

As long as he's out of the points, or Alonso retakes the lead, I'm happy. Don't mind either driver winning the championship, just want it to go down to the last race.

I dunno, he can now start on the prime tyre which isn't far behind the option in terms of lap time & just push all the way. I'm betting upwards of 6th, possibly a podium even. Its far from all going Alonso's way just yet

This will a real test for Vettel tomorrow. It's been a while since he has had to overtake anyone.

Although the double DRS zones might end up counting against him. The durability of the tyres probably aren't a positive for him either, if he gets stuck behind one particularly stubborn driver he could spend half the race there.

Kravitz did a video earlier showing the line of cars to be examined and Sebs was near the back, he reckoned it would be ages before they got around to it.

Starting from the pitlane so its out of parcferme, I think that means they can change set-up, longer gears etc.

I'm just hoping Alonso is taken out on the first corner. I really want it to come down to the final race so we, the viewers, have a reason to stay watching!

Petrov! ...jesus i remember last years race PURELY for this reason alone. This year however, my main concern for Alonso from avoiding the 'petrov' situation happening again would be that idiot Maldonado. Alonso has to climb a few places to get to him but, i think Alonso sits on the right, Maldonado on the left ...a good start should sort that out for Fernando. If not, then this twat could cause Ferrari problems.

Hamilton seems to have the perfect setup for this race but McLaren are renouned for having dodgy gearboxes & steering wheels lately. Watching practice on setanta, Hamilton was complaining again about a further delay in the electronics between selecting a gear on the wheel and it taking affect. Whether or not this problem has been ironed out is to be seen tomorrow. 21 corners and 68 gear changes per lap - could be interesting from McLarens point of view.

Alonso...well, I wouldnt necessarily say its a big 'advantage' with Vettel being forced to race from the back. I really hope Ferrari have learnt from their failed strategy last time in keeping Massa behind Alonso because team orders should play a major role here. Two things to keep in mind; use Massa to hold Vettel up as he carves through the field & (where possible) place Massa in front of Vettel when the stops are made, even if it means Massa having to do a few 'slower' laps to get the positioning right on exit...and two....make sure Alonso isnt put out behind Webber in the stops and keep him out of traffic so he can race as hard as he can. Its not rocket science so they should get this right. If I was Dominicali I would be sitting Massa down and telling him to drive hard and defend his position as if his life depended on it. I hope this is a cracking race tomorrow. Dont know about you but the indian gp is one of the most boring races on the calendar. Lets hope this flips it over.

    Forza Ferrari !!!
