I am happy to have a look at that email for you, just email it to info@downrail.co.uk so I can see if there was any offensive or nasty language used and if there is I will investigate.

It is true that actual lineside access (as opposed to access to adjacent fields) has to be strictly controlled. There's a story that did the rounds in our place that way back in the early days a train went out and discovered a group of lads had tied a girl to the tracks for a "student film" they were shooting. Had not asked permission or anything, and so panic ensured!!! I have no idea if this story is true or not, BTW... ;)

Will do copy on its way to you but its like i said before dont worry i didnt take anything to heart .

Just glad to get up for the day to see what used to run about CIE in my youth

Sorry about this i really thought it was all true

ITG have been granted a small number of cab passes. I suspect they will distribute them the same way they did with the ones they had for their last charter day at Downpatrick.

Wouldn't you need two drivers to do that? A39 has no multiple working gear.

***IMPORTANT NOTICE – ITG DIESELGALA, 20th October, 2012***

The Irish Traction Group wish to advise those attending this weekend's Diesel Gala at Downpatrick & County DownRailway, that planned operations have been changed due to recent heavy rainfall.

At present (16:00) the north line beyond Downpatrick Station is currently under water, which renders it impassable to A Class, A39 and B Class, 146. It is still intended that the two Deutz G class locos will be able to provide a passenger service on this line subject to the water lever dropping by a few more inches.

Both the A and B class will be providing cab rides within the station yard. In addition to this, there will be a unique opportunity to travel behind the Plasser & Theurer tamper/liner which will be hauling the NIR Railbus (RB3) from the carriage gallery out to King Magnus' Halt on the South line.

If the water level drops sufficiently overnight, we may be able to revert to the originally planned operations.

The ITG apologise for this change in plans at such short notice and hope you understand that this is due to circumstances beyond our control. We trust you will not be discouraged and look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible tomorrow. Once again, apologies for any inconvenience or disappointment caused.

Issued on behalf of TheIrish Traction Group

Anyone know if you use a dinky to photo a train tomorrow could that still be called tresspass on the permanent way due to it being flooded its not like you are physically on the trackside more like floating above it

i was thinking of asking a £2.50 per round trip by boat for the guys with cameras & £1.80 for the guys without cameras , reasons for the price difference with cameras is due to the weight restrictions on the dinky

Humour in the face of adversity. Much appreciated. I hope you and everyone else who attend tomorrow will enjoy the day. Fingers crossed the dinghy will not be needed!

It was pretty bad earlier today, fingers crossed that there's no more showers tonight, and the water table can fall to allow it to go ahead as planned. Parts of the line flooded I've never seen flooded. Our Chief Civil Engineer in over 20 years hadn't seen such excessive flooding.

Believe it or not there was a boat floating about the place one time before... LOL...

Any of the lineside photographers from above are advised to bring water wings and snorkles... permission from landowners or not there's not much dry land to be found!! ;-)

    UPDATE

The ITG regret to announce that today's diesel gala has been cancelled. An early morning track inspection has revealed water levels to have risen over night and both lines are now impassable.

Please accept our most sincere apologies.
