I think they were looking for a link supporting your claim that there would be information coming on Friday. Not the information itself. Kinda like that invite to a meeting about another meeting.

I'm not a media expert, but surely journalists worth their salt would want their work available on the biggest medium in modern times? So its not unreasonable to assume that any information can be found online.

You can tease that you have information, just not share the information itself. Journo's do it all the time. GameInformer are the bloody worst for it, every time a GameInformer journalist tweets something conspicuous on twitter, Neogaf and other such forums go bloody insane.

Helix was banned yesterday for ignoring mod instruction. Any news Helix had will likely be found on one of the many other websites from one of the many other games journalists who received the same information, so we won't be missing out on anything.

GTA V release date tipped for March 2013

Although some hinted earlier in the year that we might see the latest instalment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise released this October, that turned out to be hooey. Yes, GTA III was released in October all those many years ago, but GTA IV was released in April 2008 so there's no discernible pattern.

In fact, it was always unlikely to hit the streets this year, especially as there was no trace of the game at E3 in June. However, according to one analyst, we probably won't see it at next year's E3 either, as he claims that GTA V will be released in March 2013.

Famed games industry analyst Michael Pachter has judged that Rockstar's next big game will come in March for a number of reasons. First, the fact that it will be the cover star and subject to a big preview in next month's edition of Game Informer in the US means that it is only a few months away from going gold.

Second, Publisher Take Two has been haemorrhaging money of late, posting loses of $110 million in the first financial quarter of the year. A March release of its biggest property, therefore, would balance the books for this financial year rather than next.

"Their fiscal year ends 31 March, so they pretty much have to bring the game out by 31 March," Pachter told Now Gamer in a recent interview.

Although he did admit to the gaming site that Rockstar could still surprise everybody. "You just don't know with these guys, they could announce next week that GTA is coming out December 20, I think it would be stupid, but they could do it," he said.

However, while it is feasible to do so, he doubts Rockstar will take that path. "With GTA, I honestly think the Rockstar guys could bring it out before Christmas if they wanted to and they could announce next week that it's coming out December 9, and then the Game Informer cover would get a lot of publicity, but my guess is that it's coming out March," he explained. "That's probably an accurate release date and that gives them four full months to promote it."

To me its worrying that they are seeking the fans input on the multiplayer now. To me this means they are quite a bit away from releasing this game.

I know multiplayer tends to be the last thing worked on in the development process (or is it?) but to me if they are only seeking input now, this will take time to review and decided on what they want to include and then implement and test it.

This isn't really a sign of how far along V is IMO. The crews and Social Club structure is already there from MP3 and RDR. They seem to be mainly looking for feature suggestions for that as opposed to suggestions for V's multiplayer. Even if it were, they have at least four months to implement some of the features suggested by users if it is to be released in March, and they could easily be working on it up until the day of release and just release it as the "Mandatory Update" most games make you do once you put the disc in.

I'd imagine there's an independent team responsible for Social Club matters anyway.

When they say

No details has been revealed yet as to When Grand Theft Auto V will launch. According to analyst, GTA V has to launch before March 2013.

I'm guessing they mean it has to come out before Take Two's fiscal year ends?

Could be anywhere between now and 1am I'd say. I'd tip 8pm-12am as the most likely times though, depending on whether R* is on the east or west coast.
