    Unboxers are the worst :p

No, the worst is the guys giving some tutorial or informative video about something and they are speaking in some super silent whisper mode (as if the don't want to wake their parents or something) and you have to crank the volume up to 11 to hear them.
And then of course afterwards you forget the volume is up mega high and play some music/game/video and scare the crap out of yourself :(

I really really don't get the fascination with unboxing at all....

I'll give you that. In close second, I'd put the experience of enjoying a particular reviewer's series 'til the time they make a somewhat well-received cutaway/reference/one-liner, and then, he/she decide it ample time to act out their long-repressed ambitions of hosting a viral variety-show, with an ever decreasing ratio of what was appealing about their product in the first place.

There are exceptions and all that, but Jesus, I can't recall how many decent web-shows I've seen derailed in such a manner.

I'd usually agree, but that said, I've spent a bit too much time this morning youtubing this thing in varying stages of unboxing. I know, I'm part of the problem.

What's the procedure for resocketing RAM chips (and cleaning the pins etc)?

Sounds good :p No just wondering if there was any special way to remove them incase they broke pins or anything

Thought I read somewhere recently about using a flat screwdriver and rocking it gently left to right underneath the chip.

Standard DDR type ram? Don't you just release the clasp & it pushes the ram upwards to loosen it, or is this something different?

Nah I mean the old IC RAM (yes, confusion ensues!) with 16 pins that you see on old PCBs, rather than the typical DIMM or SIMM RAM
Edit: DIP chip is the term I was looking for :pac:

Get a cheap chip removal tool. Very handy thing to have.

Or a Euro or so more for this:

    ****, which one?

I'd guess it's the one in the middle, between the one next to Dooly's and second-down from Freddies? I was there last year, gaf was in ravages. Half the kits were knocked off, and what was remaining tilted on the side of faulty. The Point Blank set-up needed serious maintenance, the differences between popping in a coin and watching the attract screen were negligible.

The little one immediately beside Freddies was pretty cool 'til a couple years back. The Metal Slug rig was brilliant, stick in a euro and you'd get seemingly ages.

Actually the bigger one just after it, that was recently renovated. It's one of the few places that still has a Fighting Mania: Fist of the North Star set-up going. Which is weird, cause it fits the holiday-arcade model pretty well. I vaguely recall reading that a lot of machines were recalled due to folk injuring themselves on it, but I can't source anything.

Freddies is gone, apparently the bank seized his assets . I dont know the whole story but its a very big blow to the place

Yeah Pipers with the metal slug was great but all slots now :(

Only 4 pinball machines in the whole place aswell, been playing theatre of magic recently, its some fun. Really tempted to get my own one

Freddies? Seriously? Christ, it was the only one that seemed to be holding halfway alright.

Does that make Bray the arcade capital of Ireland - a dubious honour given the quality of our gaming houses, granted, but an honour nonetheless.

Also I see Nights HD has snuck out! On PSN now, XBLA on Friday. Knew those spare MS points would come in handy eventually! Never played it first time around so really looking for it to it. Comes with Christmas Nights too, I believe.

Well, that's, at least, one Tank! Tank! Tank! cab, so we're doing alright, I suppose.

Anyone had any issues with mega slow deliveries with anpost lately.
I posted a few bits off that I sold on ebay and adverts and the people are only starting to get them now. They were all sent last Monday morning I think so that's mental slow and some of them are only going from Shankill to the other side of the city.

This whole return to ps3 ownership has been a nostalgic trip through games past, ok not that far in the past but certainly games that were once regulars but ceased to be when the 60gb went ylod on me.
So, it's back to Super Rub a Dub, Super Stardust HD and Wipeout HD/Fury.
What I wasn't prepared for was a return to the madness that is currently taking place.
My ps3 has been downloading and update for GT5 for the last 8 hours! And it can't be done in the background! This means no PS gaming for me til its finished, sometime in 2015 by the looks of it!

Finally got around to Indie Game: The Movie and very much enjoyed it. Gave me a lot of respect for Team Meat, as they both come across as really genuine, talented guys. Phil Fish's massive ego is on full display, but the filmmakers do a good job at illustrating his more positive traits too. Would've loved more time with Jonathan Blow, though, who is probably the best designer of the lot, and clearly has a lot of intelligent, interesting things to say, so it was disappointing he only chimed in a few times throughout. Still, a very insightful and surprisingly emotional docu.
